It’s hard for me to forgive Valerie—because of her, I lost my child, and she almost took Gabriella and Lily away from me.
“Arlo, stop it; it tickles!” Lily said as I continued to kiss her neck.She turned to face me, giving me a smile that could stop the stars. She playfully dabbed flour on my nose and kissed me on the lips.
“I want to court you, my wife. Can I still climb up and woo you again?” I asked. Her mouth fell open in surprise.
She looked even more stunning in my eyes. She laughed loudly and fed me some chocolate.
“Arlo, at our age, and you’re talking about courting? If you want to climb, go climb the mango or guava tree,” she teased, her cheeks turning red from laughing.
“I swear, my wife, I’ll climb the mango and guava trees right now, and then I’ll come climb you,” I said. She was about to reply, but I pulled her in and kissed her passionately.
“Daddy, Mommy, grandpa and grandma are looking for you. Stop your kiss-kiss for now,” Grayson said, pulling my hand to drag me out of the kitchen.
Lily laughed at me and stuck her tongue out.
“Just wait until tonight, my love,” I whispered softly, winking at her.
A few moments later, we were all seated at the dining table. Lily suddenly stood up, and we were all shocked to see the change in her expression. Just moments ago, she was full of joy. I couldn’t stay still in my seat. I stood up, my knees trembling.
“Babe, what’s wrong? Are you feeling any pain?” I asked her with concern. She nodded, tears streaming down her face.
She started crying, and I felt fear wash over me.
“Dad, Mom, what’s happening to my wife?” I asked, feeling like a lost child.
“Arlo, babe, I’m pregnant,” Lily said. I froze, completely stunned.
“Babe, I’m going to be a father again? You’re pregnant? There’s a baby in your tummy now?” I asked her repeatedly. She nodded at me.
“Yes, yes,” I said joyfully, my heart bursting with happiness.
I lifted my wife in sheer delight, unable to contain my excitement. I kissed her in front of Mom, Dad, and the whole family.
“Now go climb the guava and mango trees,” she teased me with a playful smirk.
“I’ll do it right now, my love,” I replied eagerly.
“After lunch—put me down first,” she said, playfully hitting my arm.
“Daddy, Mommy, are we going to be a big brother and sister now?” Gabriella and Grayson asked in unison. Lily and I both nodded at them.
I couldn’t put into words how I felt at that moment. I was on the verge of tears as I watched my wife talking to our twins.

They’ve been teasing me at home because I don’t let my wife do any work anymore. We’ve already planned to take a vacation in Switzerland while her baby bump isn’t too big yet. Lily wants to give birth here. This is my first time taking care of her during pregnancy. I wasn’t around when she was pregnant with the twins, so I’m determined to make up for it now.
“Babe, I feel like eating passion fruit and soursop,” she called out to me while I was by the pool with our twins.
She was sitting by the pool’s edge, wearing the Prada sunglasses I gave her as a gift. Out of all her sunglasses, this one has been her favorite ever since she started her pregnancy cravings. Her tummy is now four months along. She smiled at me, and I felt my cheeks blush.
“In a minute, babe,” I said. She pouted at me.
I guess this is what it’s like when women are pregnant—you can’t predict their moods. Sometimes my wife is irritable, and other times, she’s super fussy. She won’t eat unless I’m the one who cooks the meal. But for her, I’d do anything.
“Babe, wait—I’ll come with you,” she said.
“Hold on, babe. Let me call Ruth first to watch the twins,” I said. Before I could take a step, she called out to me and threw my towel at me.
“Arlo, are you going to walk into the house dressed like that? Look at yourself,” she said, pointing to my front. I picked up the towel because my wife was acting jealous again.
If I don’t follow her wishes, it’s scary when she gives me the silent treatment because it means no “special moments” between us. I smiled at her and winked before heading into the house.
