“Arlo, someone might come in,” I said, trying to stop him.
“I locked the door,” he replied and continued kissing my neck.
“Still…” I started to protest, but he turned me to face him and kissed me passionately on the lips.
I couldn’t stop myself from returning his kiss. But once again, his phone rang, and we had to stop. I gently removed his hand from my waist, stood up straight, and fixed myself. Then my own phone chimed with a message.
“Answer your call—it might be an emergency,” I told him.
I took my phone out of my bag, and when I checked, the message was from Violet.
**Violet:** Where are you now? Have you seen the news? It’s also spreading on social media.
My chest tightened as I read her message.
**Me:** Not yet, sis. I’m at Arlo’s office right now.
**Violet:** Has he told you about meeting Valerie?
I glanced at Arlo, who seemed angry while speaking to someone on the phone. He came over to me, kissed my forehead, and looked like he wanted to say something, but couldn’t.
“Babe, I need to leave. There’s an emergency I have to deal with outside,” he said. I just nodded at his words.
He grabbed his jacket and rushed out of the office, but to my surprise, he came back.
“I’ll tell you something later, babe. I love you, and I’ll ask my team to escort you home,” he said.
“Is it about Valerie?” I asked bluntly. He didn’t answer, but I saw his shoulders slump at my question.
“I’ll explain everything to you, babe,” he said before leaving.
After Arlo left, I called Violet. She picked up quickly and told me to turn on the TV and check my social media account.
When I turned on the TV, I saw a video of Arlo and Valerie at a restaurant—the same scene I witnessed earlier this morning. Then, I saw a clip of Arlo taking Valerie to the hospital and the two of them coming out together.
In the next video, Valerie was standing outside a house with an older woman beside her, who I assumed was her mother.
**Reporter:** “Miss Valerie Garcia, is it true that your wedding with Arlo Bonde is no longer happening?”
Valerie looked directly at the camera as if she were staring straight at me. She laughed and took a deep breath before answering.
“Who said it wouldn’t happen? Arlo and I are fine now. What happened was just a small misunderstanding. Fake news spreads so fast. Let me repeat, our wedding will push through, especially now that we’re expecting a baby,” Valerie boldly told the media.
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing. My knees weakened, and I couldn’t take my eyes off Valerie, who smiled and gently caressed her belly.
**Reporter:** “Is it true, Miss Garcia, that Arlo left you because of Lily Davis and that Arlo has twins with her?”
“She’s the one who ruined my relationship with Arlo. Arlo and I were happy, and we came back here to get married. Then she suddenly appeared, but in the end, Arlo still chose me because she’s nothing but a lying woman,” Valerie said, making my blood boil as I listened to her remarks to the media.
“That’s enough for now because my daughter needs to rest. Soon, everyone will know about their upcoming wedding,” Valerie’s mother added before they both went inside their house.
I turned off the TV and walked out of Arlo’s office. Arlo’s secretary called out to me, but I didn’t look back. As I stepped out of the company building, Arlo’s men approached me to escort me.
“Ma’am Lily, we’re just following Sir’s orders,” one of them said, knowing they could lose their jobs if they didn’t do as instructed.
“Don’t worry. If you lose your jobs, I’ll make sure you get new ones,” I replied before getting into my car.
I started my car and drove, my mind in turmoil. My phone rang again; it was Violet calling, but I didn’t answer. I was too confused and didn’t even know where I was going. While driving, an unknown number called me. I pulled over to the side of the road and answered the call.
“Finally, you answered, Lily.”
“Who is this?” I asked. The caller laughed, and although I recognized her voice, I pretended not to.
“This is Valerie, Lily. Do you really think you can just take Arlo from me? You’re wrong because you don’t know me at all. I’m not the kind of person who gives up or surrenders what’s mine. Arlo is mine, Lily.
