Livinus’s response was just as one would expect from him, though Sophia still felt uneasy. Some things can be played with, while others should not. A certain American star had once been falsely accused of assault; even after the truth was revealed, many people still believed him guilty.
“You don’t have to confront someone like that head-on.”
Livinus seemed deep in thought and didn’t respond for a long time.
Sophia frowned, about to speak, when Barbara called out, “Sophia, let’s head back to the hospital!”
Sophia stood up, frowning as she said, “If it comes to it, just tell Miss Maggie that it was me that night.”
If she had known that one night would lead to so much trouble, Sophia would never have allowed the misunderstanding to continue, letting Miss Maggie lie for so long.
“No need!” Livinus’s tone was more resolute than ever. “I don’t need you to get involved in my affairs!”
“Livinus…”
“Sophia!” Livinus Scott’s deep voice came from the other side of the wall. “You’re underestimating me. Do you really think I, Livinus Scott, can be so easily controlled by a woman?”
With that, he left the restaurant.
–
Seeing Sophia talking to a man, Barbara came over, curious. “Sophia, do you know him?”
Sophia shook her head. “Is there something going on at the hospital?”
“The professor wants us to go back.”
When they arrived, Professor Michael led them to the office of the head of gynecology. Sophia was a bit puzzled, as traditional medicine practitioners usually went straight to the ward, rarely bringing groups into an office.
“Professor Michael.”
“Dr. Baker
Dr. Baker smiled. “My patient is a bit special, so I asked you to come privately. Here’s my patient—she’s just found out she’s pregnant and would like a prescription to help maintain the pregnancy.”
Dr. Baker opened the curtains, revealing the woman on the bed. Everyone looked surprised, except for Sophia, whose brows furrowed deeply.
The woman on the bed was beautiful, with arched eyebrows that gave off a slightly intimidating aura. Her hair was tied up, her makeup meticulously applied, and she wore a loose, light-green dress that revealed her fair, slender legs.
Her gaze cut through the crowd to meet Sophia’s, and her lips curled into a provocative smile.
Barbara exclaimed, “Aren’t you Olivia? Am I mistaken?”
Olivia patted her hair, smiling as she said, “Yes, I’m Olivia. But this is my personal time, so no autographs or photos!”
Her words left everyone stunned.
How self-centered could she be?
Or was this the attitude of today’s celebrities?
Who even wanted a picture with her?
Who has the time at work to take pictures with a third-rate celebrity?
Barbara leaned over and whispered to Sophia, “Isn’t she the mistress? I heard she had a big fight with the wife and even forced her out of the house. Have you seen that video?”
Sophia smiled slightly and shook her head, remaining calm throughout.
“Well, you should see it. I really feel bad for the wife, bullied like that by the mistress. You’d think Olivia would keep a low profile while pregnant. No wonder people call her the boldest mistress on the internet!”
Soon, Olivia’s assistant entered, saying, “Please do not disclose anything about Olivia’s situation. The company will pursue legal action if anyone does!”
Though Olivia was a minor celebrity, her presence excited those classmates who were unaware of the details.
“Miss Olivia, you’re pregnant now; make sure to take good care of yourself.”
“Miss Olivia, your husband must treat you very well. That diamond ring on your hand is huge!”
Olivia smiled, raising her hand to show off the ring. “Yes, my husband treats me very well. He’s the kind of man who wants to be with me every day. When I told him not to get me a diamond ring, he insisted. When he found out I was pregnant, he was thrilled and said he’d buy me a villa to rest and prepare for our child.”
“Wow, he really dotes on you…” Anna said, enviously.
“Isn’t that right?” Olivia continued, smiling. “He treats me so well, spoiling me like a princess, holding me in the palm of his hand.”
“Really? You’re so lucky! Your husband must be very wealthy?”
“Oh, he does okay!” Olivia lifted her hand again, showing off the diamond ring. “My husband works for the Scott family. He’s the most beloved grandson of the patriarch. With his position, he can live comfortably just from stock dividends.”
Suddenly, Sophia let out a mocking laugh.
The others looked at her, puzzled by her sudden laughter.
Barbara nudged Sophia, but she ignored it and turned her gaze to Olivia, smiling.
“Miss Olivia, why do you keep saying ‘husband’? If I remember correctly, your ‘husband’ hasn’t even divorced his wife, has he? How does it feel to steal someone else’s husband? You certainly live up to the title of an actress; for you, life and acting seem to blur together, so much so that you can’t tell what’s real anymore. Whatever play you’re putting on for us now, none of us care about your life. Whether you’re happy or not is your own business—who even wants to know?”
Olivia’s assistant’s face went pale at these words.
Only now did she realize that this small intern was actually Scott Henry’s wife, Sophia!
No wonder she hadn’t recognized her; Sophia’s demeanor had undergone a complete transformation. The old Sophia had been meek and unassuming, but the woman before her now was calm and detached, with a high, unapproachable air enhanced by her white coat.
The assistant, not knowing Sophia would be here, glanced nervously at Olivia. Olivia showed no surprise, clearly aware of Sophia’s presence all along.
“You… you…” The assistant pointed at Sophia, speechless.
Olivia’s face darkened at the public shaming.
Dr. Baker frowned and turned to Professor Michael. “Professor Michael, what kind of student is this? She’s so rude and disrespectful! Whatever Miss Olivia’s personal affairs may be, it’s not as simple as what’s reported. Such disrespect shows she has too high an opinion of herself!” Then, addressing Sophia, she added, “I don’t think an intern like this is suitable for our hospital. If she treats patients this rudely, she might as well not be here at all.”
Professor Michael frowned. Although he didn’t know why Sophia had spoken so harshly, he knew her well enough to know this was out of character.=
