Dr. Sophia – Chapter 8

Mistress

“Oh?” Sophia raised an eyebrow. “So, you’re the one who belongs with him?”

“Of course we do!” Olivia’s voice was soft yet full of urgency. “Henry and I have been together for years! He loves me, and I love him too. Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be his wife. But me—I’m the one destined for him, made for him. We understand each other deeply…please, don’t hold on to a futile relationship! Can’t you see that he and I are the real couple?”

Olivia continued passionately, expecting Sophia to respond with anger or engage in a heated debate. Instead, Sophia merely glanced at her, a faint smile playing on her lips as she replied:

“Oh.”

Olivia’s expression turned frantic. “What do you mean by ‘oh’?”

“It means I have nothing to say. Hence, ‘oh’.”

Flushed with frustration, Olivia’s face shifted between red and pale as Sophia’s indifferent expression cut through her. In a burst of emotion, Olivia cried out:

“A third party like you should have backed out long ago!”

Hearing this, the women seated nearby cast judgmental glances at Sophia, whispering under their breath:

“Men these days sure do love those pretty little homewreckers!”

Sophia scratched her ear, wondering if she’d misheard.

“What did you just say? Say it again! Who’s the third party here? Me? Are you certain?”

“Of course!” Olivia clenched her fists, emphasizing her point with utter seriousness. “Sophia, it’s the unloved one who’s the third party! So, between the three of us, you’re the outsider!”

Taking a deep breath, Sophia resisted the urge to slap her across the face. She reminded herself to keep her composure—as the legitimate wife, she had to maintain her dignity.

But being labeled the mistress when she was the legal wife—who could tolerate that?

Her voice laced with mocking laughter, Sophia responded, “So, Miss Olivia, I—the wife with a marriage certificate—am now the mistress, while you, the woman sneaking around with my husband, are the ‘legitimate’ one? Thank you for broadening my worldview!”

With that, Sophia pulled out her phone, ready to dial a number. Olivia froze, flustered. “What are you doing?”

“Calling 411.”

“What?”

“To get the number of a mental hospital. What’s wrong? Do you have some experience with them?” Sophia asked with a completely serious expression.

Olivia turned beet red from the insult. Just as Sophia thought she’d say something more ridiculous, Olivia suddenly clutched her chest and leaned over, vomiting violently into the nearby trash can.

At that exact moment, a group of reporters appeared in the distance, snapping pictures of them in a frenzy.

The arrival of the reporters caught Sophia completely off guard, and it finally dawned on her: Olivia was somewhat involved in the entertainment industry.

Olivia started out as a model during her college years, gaining rapid online popularity due to her innocent looks. However, the entertainment industry wasn’t easy to break into. Lacking connections, Olivia remained only moderately visible, with enough exposure for people to remember her name. Later, she latched onto Scott Henry, refusing to let go even if it meant facing ridicule. Unlike most mistresses who preferred a low profile, Olivia seemed afraid the Scott family wouldn’t acknowledge her, seizing every chance to be associated with them. She was determined to legitimize their relationship, even if it meant being labeled as the “other woman.”

“Olivia, are you pregnant?”

“Are you carrying a child of the Scott family?”

“There’s a rumor going around that you and Scott Henry are already married. Is that true?”

Olivia didn’t deny it. She blushed, clutching her chest as she said, “Thank you all for your concern. I’m fine. I’ve just been feeling nauseous lately and have little appetite.”

The reporters became even more enthusiastic, snapping pictures of her face and belly, while Olivia didn’t shy away, holding her chest and feigning a delicate, pitiful look.

Sophia was amused.

So this was all a setup, a true hong men banquet—a trap masquerading as a friendly gathering. Olivia certainly had the innocent, pure look down with her fair skin, big eyes, and simple white dress. No wonder she was once crowned the “Country’s first love.” But the wise way she orchestrated everything was far from innocent.

After rounds of questioning and enough photos to fill a magazine, the reporters finally noticed Sophia standing nearby. One of them asked, “Is this Olivia’s new assistant?”

“No, no. She looks more like Scott Henry’s wife. Aren’t they still married?”

Hearing this, Olivia quickly threw herself into Sophia’s arms, grabbing her hand with a forced laugh.

“Yes! She’s my dear sister! We’re just meeting up for coffee.”

“Your relationship seems so harmonious!” Another reporter followed up, “So, Madam Scott, you don’t mind about her relationship with Scott Henry?”

A sorrowful expression washed over Oliviai’s face as she replied, “Feelings are complicated, not as black and white as people think. Who’s to say what’s right or wrong in matters of the heart?”

The reporters were thrilled, snapping away as if they’d hit the jackpot. They’d initially assumed this woman was Olivia’s assistant, but now they had confirmation that she was none other than Scott Henry’s wife. This was explosive news! A peaceful meeting between a wife and a mistress at a café? Could it be that Olivia wasn’t a homewrecker after all? Were Henry and his wife already divorced?

“Mrs. Scott, would you say you’re like sisters with Miss Olivia?”

“Mrs. Scott, how’s your relationship with Mr. Henry? Is it true that, as rumors suggest, you’re already divorced?”

The barrage of questions made Sophia’s brow furrow, and to make things worse, Olivia leaned closer, practically pressing up against her. The overpowering scent of Olivia’s perfume only intensified Sophia’s headache.

But seriously…

Pulling in the wife to prop up her own image as the mistress? Olivia’s audacity was almost impressive!
