“Miss Olivia, this way, please.”
Olivia hesitated for a moment, pulling the doctor aside to ask, “Doctor, the people who just walked past—are they doctors here?”
“Just now? Oh, you must mean the interns, right?”
“She’s probably a fifth-year student at the University of Traditional Medicine.”
“Then she’s here for an internship,” the doctor replied with a smile, adjusting his glasses. “Our hospital collaborates with the University of Traditional Medicine. Every year, we accept many interns to help them gain clinical experience. Now, come along, Miss Olivia. I’ll perform a quick check-up for you.”
Since Olivia was a celebrity and had been referred by an acquaintance, the doctor was especially polite.
Coming back to her senses, Olivia sneered. Sophia was only a fifth-year student; she couldn’t possibly be a full doctor yet, only an intern. She had no family connections and was about to go through a divorce. Clearly, she’d need this internship to secure a future in a decent hospital.
If her internship were ruined at this point and she couldn’t get into a good hospital, she’d likely be desperate, wouldn’t she?
With that thought, Olivia’s smirk deepened.
—
As an intern, Sophia had very limited access to patients. Her instructors didn’t fully allow her and the other interns to handle patients on their own, so most of her time was spent doing minor tasks on the side. To Sophia, this felt like a waste of time.
She wasn’t opposed to learning in a hospital; what bothered her was being limited to menial tasks. If she were a typical student, she could tolerate it, but she’d already been through this phase in her previous life as a seasoned practitioner. Here she was, a nationally recognized doctor, serving as an intern without any real patient interaction. It felt frustrating.
Besides, she already had a small clinic and didn’t intend to work in a hospital long-term. Was this internship truly necessary?
Sophia started to seriously consider her situation.
Then there was the matter of the divorce, which couldn’t be delayed any longer.
It was nearly autumn now.
She couldn’t let this drag on from summer into winter. A man like Scott Henry wasn’t worth keeping around for the new year!
She needed to be prepared for her battles—against both the Scott family and Olivia, the mistress.
Prepared for anything, she also had to guard against any sudden attacks that might catch her off guard.
With these thoughts in mind, Sophia contacted Aaron for advice.

“Dr. Sophia!”
While delivering medical records to another department, someone called out to her. She turned to see Mr. Colton, the father of the jaundiced infant, waving at her. “Mr. Colton?”
“Dr. Sophia!” Mr. Colton was overjoyed. “My son just peed and had a bowel movement!”
“Really?” Sophia shared in his happiness. According to the records, the baby had barely eaten and hadn’t had a bowel movement in days. Having a bowel movement after taking the traditional medicine was certainly something to pay attention to. Sophia quickly followed him to the patient’s room and found the baby’s eyes open. He had dark, large pupils and single eyelids. Although he looked wrinkly and still had a slight yellowish tint from not having been bathed in a while, he seemed alert and curious about the world around him.
Sophia examined the baby’s stool. It had taken on a much healthier appearance, resembling that of a normal infant. Even more encouraging, the baby’s urine was no longer as cloudy as before. Everything pointed to improvement, showing that her prescription was indeed effective.
Just then, Dr. Cooper walked in and, seeing Sophia, scoffed:
“Dr. Aaron Mateo said this baby’s ongoing treatment is now your responsibility. After you prescribe the medication, inform Dr. Aaron for confirmation.”
Sophia nodded and proceeded to take the baby’s pulse.
The infant’s pulse had been weak before, but after a few doses of the medication, it was much stronger. His breathing was also more audible, and most importantly, his skin was gradually losing its yellow tint, returning to a more natural color. Everything seemed to be progressing positively.
“Good. Keep the prescription the same. Administer it once every twenty-four hours.”
“Oh, Dr. Sophia!” The baby’s grandfather eagerly asked, “Does this mean my grandson is better? He seems so much more energetic and is eating a lot more.”
“Yes! For breastfed babies, feed them as much as they want—there’s no need to limit it,” Sophia advised, preparing to leave.
However, the baby’s mother stopped her again.
The men in the room stepped out, and the mother, looking embarrassed, said:
“Dr. Sophia, my milk supply has decreased because my son wouldn’t nurse before. I was so worried about him that I ignored it, and now, with all the stress, my milk production has dwindled. Now that he’s finally nursing, I don’t have enough milk. I know b****t milk is best for him, given his condition, so I was wondering if there’s any herbal remedy to increase my milk supply?”
Without speaking, Sophia first took her pulse.
One of the key differences between traditional and modern medicine is that traditional medicine often involves pulse diagnosis before prescribing treatment, as each prescription is tailored to the patient’s unique constitution.
Sophia quickly wrote down a prescription for her.
The baby’s mother looked at it and read aloud: “Calcined pearls, Vaccaria seeds, walnut kernels… Dr. Sophia, are these easy to find?”
“They should be. First, check if the hospital pharmacy has them. If they do, you won’t have to worry about authenticity. If not, you can look outside.”
“And… will it work?” she asked nervously.
Sophia smiled, explaining that the pearl powder could promote blood circulation, helping clear blockages after childbirth, while the Vaccaria seeds were known for stimulating milk flow.
There’s even a common saying: “With Vaccaria seeds, a woman’s milk will flow freely.”
The mother’s only issue was a slight blockage in her system. With this secret formula for stimulating milk production, she should have no trouble increasing her supply!
“Don’t worry! You’ll see results very soon.”
After reminding her of a few things to keep an eye on with the baby, Sophia left.
Later that evening, Mr. Colton happily reported that his wife’s milk supply had indeed increased and that their baby was now well-fed and in even better spirits.

After several days at work, Sophia’s schedule allowed her two days off. She took the opportunity to meet with Aaron to discuss the next steps in their strategy. After reviewing the plans with Attorney Aaron, Sophia decided to head home to rest.
