The words were brutal.
The air between them crackled with hostility.
Something inside Richard snapped.
He grabbed his father’s arm and shook him violently.
“Dad! You’re not throwing me out! You will change your mind right now!” His voice was sharp with rage.
“Why should Scott Coporation have nothing to do with me? I am also a Scott! The company is rightfully mine! You think you can just give me a bit of money and send me away? I won’t allow it!
“You will write a will right now and give me my rightful share of Scott Corporation!”
With that, he dragged his father toward the desk, forcing him to sign a will.
The old master struggled, his face turning red as he gasped for air—he could hardly breathe.
“You… unfilial son…” he choked out.
“Yes! I am unfilial! But think about why! You have never treated me fairly! I am the eldest son of this family! This empire should have been mine!
“You think I’m a fool? That I would stand by while you hand over this vast business to my younger brother?
“I have lived a life of luxury because of my birthright—only for you to tell me, in the end, that none of it belongs to me?
“There is no way I will accept that!
“You will sign this will today—whether you want to or not!”
He shoved a stack of documents in front of the old man.
“Dad! I’m not greedy! I only want what I rightfully deserve!
“It’s you who forced me into this!
“You raised me to believe that I would inherit everything.
“And now, you want to take it all away and give it to Livinus?
“You will sign this will today! You have no other choice!”
The old man read through the so-called will handed to him, his face turning red with anger as he clutched his chest. “You unfilial son! You want to anger me to death?”
“Dad! Of course, I wouldn’t dare to anger you to death. You are my father. You still need to sign the will for me. If you die, who will I go to for money?” With that, he forcibly grabbed the old man’s hand, trying to make him sign.
The old man had never suffered such humiliation in his entire life. He immediately resisted, but Richard held him down tightly.
The old man was so furious that his vision suddenly blurred. Everything he saw had double images. He blinked and muttered vaguely,
“Let… go of me! Richard!”
However, Richard was already too frantic to listen. He firmly gripped the old man’s hand, forcing him to sign. He was determined to have the old man sign the will he had drafted right then and there. The old man was so enraged that his heart pounded violently, and he felt a severe pain in his chest. His vision went black, and he collapsed.
Richard was still holding onto the old man’s hand, forcing him to sign, when he saw him fall. He leaned in closer, only to see that the old man’s pupils were dilated, and vomit had spilled from his mouth. He was so shocked that he instinctively stepped back a few steps.
Richard’s eyes were filled with horror as he checked the old man’s breathing. He realized the old man’s breaths were faint—he was on the brink of death!
It was a stroke!
Richard quickly realized this and scrambled to come up with a solution. At that moment, a sudden scream came from outside the door.
“Who’s there?”
Andrea entered the room, covering her mouth in shock. “Are you insane? You’ve angered Dad to death!”
“You bitch! Stop talking nonsense!” Richard cursed, “It wasn’t me who angered him! He had a stroke and passed out on his own. It has nothing to do with me!”
Andrea sneered coldly, full of disdain for him. A man who could disregard his own parents’ lives—how could she expect such a person to be devoted to her? However, as a married couple, their interests were tied together. Thinking of their son, Henry, she softened her voice and said:
“The old man probably had a stroke. At his age, there’s little chance of saving him. But many people in the Scott family know you came back. They know he met with you. If you run away now, you’ll be even more suspicious. It’s better to call the old lady in.”
Richard steadied himself, stared at the old man’s unfocused eyes, then forced himself to cry out:
“Dad! Dad!”
His cries attracted the old lady and others. When she saw the old man, the old lady almost collapsed, but someone quickly supported her. The Scott family had their own emergency vehicle, and while performing CPR, they rushed the old man to the hospital.
By the time they arrived at the hospital, the doctors diagnosed it as a stroke. They administered multiple injections, but the old man remained unconscious. His breathing and heartbeat were weak. Even the best doctors could only shake their heads at the family.
The old lady was distraught and scolded, “You unfilial son! Did you anger your father?”
Richard wiped away tears and cried, “Mom, no! It wasn’t me! It was Livinus who did something terrible—he embezzled company funds and swapped out a batch of aged tangerine peels, causing financial losses to the Scott Corporation. Now, he’s under investigation. Scott Coporation’s reputation has been damaged. Dad was very upset, saying he never expected Livinus to do such a thing. He even said he wanted to amend his will and called me back to hear my opinion. Who knew that just as he was signing, he suddenly collapsed? I immediately called you in and rushed him to the hospital.”
