“Don’t worry. Boss asked me to tell you—just keep doing what you need to do. The grass at the entrance needs trimming; make sure to cut it soon, or it’ll be a mess when the rainy season starts next week.”
Sophia frowned, analyzing his words.
If Livinus had anticipated this, he wouldn’t be caught completely unprepared.
But if he had a plan, why did this still happen?
Originally, it should have been Richard under investigation.
Yet, Richard was perfectly fine, still at the company. Meanwhile, it was Livinus who was now being questioned.
What was going on?
After ending the call, Sophia went online.
As expected, the scandal was already trending.
People were mocking Scott Corporation’s reputation:
—”Would you still dare to take Scott Corporation’s medicine? What 20-30 years of aged tangerine peel? What ‘each ingredient grows with you through the years’? Hahaha! Less than three years? That’s just fruit peel!”
—”Under Livinus’s management, Scott Corporation is getting worse and worse.”
—”Who would still dare to take their medicine?”
—”I sure won’t! I heard their medicines contain harmful ingredients. Traditional medicine isn’t as safe as Western medicine anyway.”
—”I’m part of the Scott Wives Fan Club! I hope Boss Scott gets out of this soon!”
—”I trust Boss Scott! I don’t think he would do such a thing. Scott Coporation’s medicines have always worked well for me. I always take their cold remedy, their stomach medicine, their eye drops… oh, and their hemorrhoid cream too!”
—”Scott Corporation’s hemorrhoid cream is amazing! The new version? Life-changing!”
—”Finally! Someone talking about the hemorrhoid cream! No one is paying attention to the new formula, but it lasts for days after just one use!”
—”I sent a tube to my foreign friend, and now all his friends want me to buy it for them. It’s my first time doing overseas shopping—how much should I charge?”
—”LOL, 19 dollars a tube? You could easily sell it for 59! Just look at how people hype upproducts. Honestly, Medicine is just as good—if not better—than any other country’s.”
—”Wait, why did the discussion derail? Doesn’t anyone notice how many trolls are here to bash Scott Coporation?”
—”I feel like Boss Scott was set up. The Scott family has a serious inheritance dispute—could this be related?”
—”Take down the haters! Team Boss Scott!”
Reading through the comments, Sophia saw that many people were deliberately stirring public opinion.
Fortunately, Livinus had a strong fan club—his “Scott Wives” were not to be underestimated.
Their leader quickly rallied support, instructing everyone to change the narrative.
If someone criticized Scott Corporation, they responded by sharing nostalgic stories:
“We were so poor growing up that we couldn’t afford hospital visits, but Scott Corporation’s medicine always helped us recover.”
If someone attacked the company’s reputation, they redirected the topic:
“Let’s talk about how great their medicine is instead!”
If someone claimed their products were fake, they brought up international praise:
“Foreigners love our medicine—why would they buy it if it wasn’t effective?”
Soon, negative comments were drowned out.
The public opinion was now evenly split, much better than Sophia had expected.
### Meanwhile, at Scott Coporation…
Richard smirked as he watched the news.
“Boss,” his assistant grinned, “this scandal hit hard—our stock price has dropped 30%. The board members are furious. I doubt he can survive this.”
Richard laughed subtly.
“It’s a good thing we prepared in advance. The pharmacy samples they tested were the ones we tampered with. They’ll find exactly what we want them to find.”
“Brilliant move, Boss.”
Taking a drag from his cigarette, Richard sneered, “He’s too young. Spent too many years abroad. Doesn’t realize I set this trap for him long ago.”
“But aren’t you worried about the company taking a hit?”
Richard scoffed.
“So what if it does? The company was never mine to begin with.”
The old man had always favored Livinus, clearly planning to pass the company to him.
Now, even if this scandal weakened Scott Corporation, it didn’t matter.
As long as he took over later and restructured the company, he could restore its glory.
More importantly—once it was in his hands, it would belong to him completely.
Livinus would be cut off for good.
Otherwise, no matter how successful the company became, it would never truly be his.
Just then, his phone rang.
Ten minutes later, Richard arrived at the Scott family estate.
When he walked in, the old master was standing by the window, watering a potted plant in the sunlight.
He worked meticulously, trimming leaves, adjusting branches—spending fifteen full minutes tending to the plant before finally seeming satisfied.
Richard felt impatient.
He had never understood why people wasted time on plants.
Why spend so much effort on something that wouldn’t bring immediate returns?
After a long silence, the old master finally spoke:
“Tending to flowers is like tending to the heart.”
