“I see now.”
Sophia looked puzzled. “See what?”
“This meal… it’s full of dishes for boosting virility and kidney health. Even if I didn’t want to understand, I couldn’t pretend to be clueless.” He gave her a knowing look, a smirk tugging at his lips. “So, Dr. Sophia isn’t satisfied with my performance in bed. Don’t worry—I’ll make sure you’re never disappointed again.”
Sophia froze, then burst out laughing. “What nonsense are you talking about? I didn’t mean that…”
“As your man, it’s my responsibility to notice such hints. I apologize for my negligence!” Livinus declared solemnly.
“Hey! Livinus! That’s not what I meant. I was just—”
“No need to explain further, my dear,” he interrupted, lifting her into his arms.
Sophia yelped, “The food’s going to get cold!”
“Then let’s eat quickly.” His voice was husky as he undid his tie. “While it’s hot.”
He was as good as his word. His “efforts” left Sophia thoroughly exhausted, her whole body aching. By the time she got up to eat, she was so wobbly that she had to lean on him for support. Meanwhile, Livinus seemed completely unfazed, calmly dressing her and escorting her to the kitchen.
Sophia gritted her teeth, vowing never to prepare such meals for him again.
As they ate, Livinus glanced at her and asked in a deep voice, “Did someone visit today?”
“Yes, my romantic rival,” Sophia replied casually.
“I wasn’t aware you had one.”
“Well, it’s only because Mr. Scott is so irresistible. So, could you stop attracting all these admirers and let me have some peace?”
A faint smile played on his lips. “There’s a way to ensure that.”
“Oh?” she raised an eyebrow.
“It would require Dr. Sophia to sacrifice herself and drain me of all my energy. That way, I wouldn’t have the strength to attract anyone else.”
Sophia burst out laughing. “Since when did you start cracking jokes, Mr. Scott ?”
Her laughter was rare, and it had a charm that captivated Livinus. For a moment, he was utterly mesmerized.
“If I didn’t crack jokes, how could I make you smile like this?” he murmured, his voice low and magnetic as he nibbled her ear. “Sophia, if you keep smiling so sweetly, aren’t you afraid I’ll get diabetes?”
Sophia was taken aback but quickly dissolved into laughter again, helpless against his charm.
“No worries. Dr. Sophia will treat you,” she said, her voice warm.
Their eyes met, and in each other’s gaze, they saw the sparkle of starlight.
Sophia had been busy writing her thesis and researching bee therapy in her spare time.
The deeper she delved into her research, the more she realized the immense potential of bee therapy. Not only had she successfully treated patients with rheumatoid arthritis, but she had also unexpectedly cured several cases of shingles and athlete’s foot. These successes, combined with the steady improvement in Lincoln Bright’s legs, gave her great confidence in her work.
“Good morning, Mr. Bright.”
“Good morning!”
Derrick once again carried Lincoln Bright to the clinic for his treatment. Lincoln Bright’s overall demeanor had improved—he seemed less indifferent, and his complexion had brightened significantly thanks to Sophia’s medicinal bee venom chicken therapy.
As Sophia prepared a bee for his treatment, Chloe suddenly came running in.
“Sophia!”
“Chloe? What brings you here?”
“I was passing by and thought I’d drop in to see you! Are you busy today? Let’s go shopping!”
“If you want to shop with me, make an appointment first,” Sophia replied with a laugh.
Chloe was wearing a pink knitted sweater, a denim overall dress, and little leather boots, with a small crossbody bag slung over her shoulder. Her youthful look added to her charm.
“When does the great Dr. Sophia have time? Let’s go shopping sometime! I’ve never met a woman busier than you!”
As she spoke, her gaze landed on Lincoln Bright. She looked puzzled and asked, “What are you doing with that bee? Stinging this poor guy? Look at his fair skin—how can he handle that?”
Sophia smirked. “This is bee therapy, my latest development.”
“Really?” Chloe leaned closer, intrigued, as she inspected the bee’s stinger. Her curiosity made Lincoln Bright’s usually composed demeanor falter—his cheeks turned slightly red.
Especially when Chloe, without any sense of boundaries, began peering closely at his thighs.
Sophia pushed her away, chuckling. “All right, enough. Don’t make my patient uncomfortable.”
“What? That made him uncomfortable? Seriously?”
When Chloe looked up, she noticed Lincoln Bright lowering his head, his expression unreadable, but his ears were faintly red.
