She hadn’t expected to run into Scott Henry just for a meal.
Dealing with Livinus was definitely a hard mode; those with weak hearts shouldn’t even attempt it.
“Sit.”
Sophia had been here before and found herself a seat. Joanna came in, opened the food containers, and joked,
“President Scott knows your preferences and specifically instructed the chef to prepare these for you.”
Sophia glanced at the eight dishes on the table. “You ordered too much; there’s no way we can finish all this.”
“This is Dr. Smith’s first time eating here. If it’s not prepared properly and you don’t come next time, President Scott will punish me.”
Knowing she was teasing, Sophia shooed her off. “I think you can leave now.”
“Yes, yes! I won’t say anything more!” Joanna left with a smile.
Livinus smiled faintly, pulling Sophia into his arms and biting her lightly on the lips. “I’m hungry.”
Sophia had a conditioned reflex: when President Scott said he was hungry, it was best not to respond.
Otherwise, like that morning, she would end up as the food, and she would inevitably be left sore all over.
No matter how strong her body was, she couldn’t take this repeatedly.
“What’s wrong? Afraid to answer?”
Leaning against Livinus’s chest, Sophia patted his firm abdomen and blinked.
“All muscle, hard as a rock. You don’t seem very hungry to me.”
“You know exactly what I’m hungry for.” Livinus grabbed her hand and placed it at his waist, leaving no room for doubt.
Sophia was speechless.
Forty minutes later, Sophia was eating her meal, completely drained.
“Why did you stop eating?” Livinus fed her some food, thinking she needed strength.
As for what she needed the strength for, it didn’t need to be said.
Sophia didn’t even have the energy to hold her culteries; her hands ached terribly.
She couldn’t help but sigh.
Scott Henry stood at the office door, his expression dark and brooding.
Nearby, a junior secretary whispered to Joanna, “Joanna, what do you think President Scott is doing in there? It’s been over an hour.”
“What else could he be doing? Eating,” Joanna said with a smile.
“Eating? Sister, are you joking? How could eating take over an hour? Doesn’t President Scott usually finish in ten minutes?”
“You don’t understand!” Joanna smirked. “Meals should be eaten slowly for better digestion. Young people, what do you know?”
The junior secretary pouted but didn’t dare say more. Inwardly, she thought, Ever since Dr. Smith came around, mealtime has gone from ten minutes to over an hour. Do they take me for a child who believes anything?*
Overhearing their gossip, Scott Henry’s face grew even darker, as if it could drip water.
He had been standing there for over an hour. Originally, this case wasn’t urgent, but suddenly it was reassigned by higher-ups to Livinus.
How could it be such a coincidence? Sophia came to the company, and Livinus immediately demanded he deliver the file personally. This was clearly a deliberate attempt to humiliate him.
But Livinus’s blatant arrogance was infuriating. If an ordinary person had taken their nephew’s ex-wife, they would at least feel awkward or guilty.
Yet Livinus acted so nonchalantly that anyone reacting otherwise seemed unsophisticated.
Was Livinus trying to show off or make him understand his position? Or was it just some ridiculous male pride?
Scott Henry didn’t care to know; he only knew that he was in an incredibly foul mood.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Sophia walked out. Instantly, all eyes turned to her.
Sophia felt a twinge of guilt, but the more guilty she felt, the more composed she acted. If she showed even a hint of discomfort, wouldn’t it confirm to everyone what they had been doing inside?
She smiled brightly and said, “I’m off now.”
“Take care, Miss Smith,” everyone responded with smiles.
From start to finish, Sophia didn’t even glance at him, leaving Scott Henry’s face stormy.
After calling to get permission from Livinus, Joanna finally said, “President Scott will see you now.”
Scott Henry placed the project file on the desk. Without looking up, Livinus said, “Leave.”
For reasons unknown, Scott Henry’s anger flared as he caught the lingering scent of intimacy in the room.
Livinus was shameless! How dare he brazenly have an affair with Sophia right under his nose?
When Scott Henry didn’t move, Livinus looked up, his brows furrowed. “What? Is there something else?”
Unable to contain himself, Scott Henry clenched his fists and said furiously, “What exactly is your relationship with Sophia? Have you been involved with her all along?”
Livinus finally put down his pen, leaned back in his chair, and remained calm.
