Dr. Sophia – Chapter 168

Ambulance

“What’s wrong with her?” Sophia frowned.

“Her face is pale! Breathing rapid! Unconscious! Lips turning purple! Most importantly, her pulse is thin, slippery, and weak!”

Since everyone in the dormitory studied medicine, they had already checked Madeline’s pulse. Sophia checked it again, and it was consistent with what Madeline’s roommates had observed. Madeline’s pulse was thin and slippery, showing signs of poisoning. Her roommates mentioned that she had eaten lunch with them in the cafeteria and hadn’t consumed anything else, not even water, after returning. This ruled out common food poisoning, leaving the most likely explanation that someone had poisoned her.

As Sophia thought this through, Barbara, who also studied medicine, arrived at the same conclusion. The two exchanged a glance, silently agreeing not to say anything.

After all, it was just a suspicion and not confirmed. If they accused Anna and she was taken by the police for investigation, it could severely damage her reputation as a young girl. No one should maliciously speculate about someone else. Moreover, whether Madeline had indeed been poisoned was still an unresolved mystery; everything was based on conjecture.

“Sophia, what’s wrong with her?” Madeline’s roommate asked.

Madeline’s roommate worked for a pharmaceutical company and wasn’t in the hospital system. Instinctively, she felt that the classmates who worked in hospitals were more skilled than her.

Sophia remained silent, continuing to carefully observe Madeline, who was lying on the ground.

“Bring me some acupuncture needles!”

A roommate quickly fetched them. Sophia took the needles and began performing simple emergency treatment on Madeline.

Everyone stood by and watched. Although they had learned emergency treatments during their studies, they rarely had the chance to use them. Nervous and unsure, they were startled when Sophia brought out the needles.

The roommates who knew Sophia’s skills remained calm, but Madeline’s roommate, who was seeing this for the first time, was shocked.

When did Sophia learn acupuncture? And how had she become so skilled? This was unbelievable!

Just last semester, they had all been studying together, and at that time, Sophia had been a struggling student.

How had she transformed into a skilled practitioner in such a short time?

Just as someone was about to speak, they heard the commotion of people coming. The dormitory administrator and some faculty members had arrived. Aware of the seriousness of the situation, they cleared the students from the room. Since they were all medical students, the teachers began providing basic emergency care to Madeline. Soon after, an ambulance arrived to take Madeline to the hospital.

Once they had left, Sophia returned to the dormitory. She approached Anna, who was on the bed, and asked sternly:

“Anna, do you know anything about Madeline being poisoned?”

Anna appeared dazed, as if she hadn’t heard the question. “Poisoned?”

She seemed confused, shaking her head repeatedly. “I don’t understand. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Barbara clenched her teeth in frustration. “Anna, you can’t play dumb! You’re a medical student. If someone like you poisoned a friend, how would others view us? Besides, do you realize the consequences of such an action? Your entire life would be ruined! Don’t be foolish!”

Yet Anna continued to cry and shake her head. “I don’t understand. I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

Sophia frowned deeply. Anna’s behavior was suspicious, and she found it hard to believe her.

“Anna, calm down! I’m asking you—was this because of Nathan?”

Anna froze, her eyes blank. “Nathan?”

Barbara exclaimed, “What does this have to do with Nathan?”

Before they could continue the conversation, the sound of police cars arriving downstairs interrupted them. Barbara panicked and urged Anna to reveal what kind of poison had been used on Madeline. But Anna continued to deny everything from start to finish. The police began their investigation, taking Madeline’s roommates to assist with inquiries, collecting Madeline’s personal belongings for testing, and sealing off the dormitory as part of the crime scene.

Recalling the pulse she had felt earlier, Sophia pondered deeply. Although Madeline’s pulse was thin and slippery, indicating poisoning, common poisoning could often be treated with stomach pumping if detected early. In most cases, the issue wouldn’t be severe. But was this just ordinary poisoning? Something felt off.

Her gaze naturally fell on Anna, her expression profound.

Meanwhile, Scott Livinus stepped out of his car and noticed an ambulance leaving the campus. Frowning, he asked a nearby student:

“What happened?”

“A senior from the medical college was poisoned.”

“Poisoned?” Scott Livinus’s brows furrowed even more tightly. “Which department?”

The student provided some information while sneaking glances at his handsome face. Emboldened by his good looks, they added:

“I don’t know her name, but I heard she’s quite pretty, with long legs. She studies traditional medicine, and people say she has a classical air about her.”

This vague description only deepened Scott Livinus’s frown. He drove into the campus, drawing attention with his luxury car. Many students stopped to take photos and videos as he passed by. When his car reached the women’s dormitory, he saw Sophia running downstairs.

“Are you okay?” he asked, finally relieved.

“Why wouldn’t I be?” Sophia asked in confusion.

Scott Livinus hesitated before asking, “Where are you going?”

“I want to visit my classmate at the hospital.”

“I’ll drive you all.”

This casual “you all” shocked the surrounding roommates. They stared at Sophia in disbelief. “Sophia, who is this guy? Don’t tell me he’s your husband?”

“No.”

“No? Don’t lie to us! If he’s not your husband, why is he so nice to you? Oh my gosh! He’s ridiculously handsome, even better than a celebrity! And that car of his—it must be worth millions, right? No ordinary person could afford a car like that! He’s rich and good-looking, and he’s been waiting for you at the dormitory. Are you seriously saying he’s not your husband? Sophia, you’ve been hiding this from us all along!”

Barbara was stunned, realizing for the first time that her roommate, whom she thought had an unhappy life and was orphaned, was secretly wealthy.

Not to mention, a car worth millions was not something an ordinary person could afford to drive.

Moreover, the man had an extraordinary aura, exuding a commanding presence that screamed status and wealth. There was no way Sophia, who was with him, was ordinary.

Scarlett was equally shocked. “Is that a Rolls-Royce? Isn’t that a car meant for CEOs?”

Isabella exclaimed, “Holy crap! Sophia, you’ve truly opened our eyes. Who would’ve thought you were so low-key? And that man—he looks so familiar.”
