“Miss Smith, are you a doctor?”
“A traditional medicine practitioner.”
“That’s quite an expertise-based career. I heard from Chloe that you run your own clinic. Can you manage it all?”
“It’s manageable,” Sophia replied honestly. “There’s always a steady flow of patients.”
She kept her tone modest and didn’t reveal the full truth. In her past experiences, she learned that during blind dates, it was best not to overshare or reveal too much about oneself, so her answers were measured.
Logan nodded, flashing a charming smile with his pearly white teeth.
“Being a doctor is a truly admirable profession. I once dreamed of becoming a doctor myself, but later, I left my job to start a business. Initially, I worked on medical instruments, and eventually, I transitioned into research and development in related fields. So, I guess I still have some connection to the medical world.”
Medical instruments were indeed a lucrative business. In her past life, Sophia had a friend who developed medical equipment. A device that hospitals bought for thousands often had a manufacturing cost of just a few hundred dollars.
“It’s rare to hear of doctors switching careers,” Sophia remarked.
“True, which is why I find traditional medicine particularly fascinating. Hearing that you’re a practitioner makes me feel a certain connection.”
Logan’s warm demeanor and refined manners exuded a scholarly elegance, making him easy to approach.
As the server brought their tea and departed, Sophia overheard a hushed conversation nearby.
“Looks like both tables here are on blind dates today.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, the other pair doesn’t seem to know each other well either.”
Sophia raised an eyebrow and discreetly glanced at the other table. To her surprise, she found Scott Livinus sitting with Kim.
Catching her gaze, Scott’s expression remained neutral, his eyes quickly shifting away.
Shortly afterward, Kim excused herself to the restroom, and Logan stepped outside to take a call.
Sophia took a sip of her tea, only to be interrupted by a server who approached with a smile. “Miss, that gentleman sent you a coffee.”
Following the server’s gaze, Sophia turned to see Scott Livinus lifting his cup in a faint toast, his smile understated.
Sophia frowned and looked at the coffee in front of her.
It was one of the café’s signature lattes, known for its exquisite latte art. The creamy beige surface featured a white floral design.
But something about this design caught her attention.
At the center of the flower was a woman in a flowing gown, arms raised as if dancing gracefully.
Sophia stared at the image for a while, sensing something off.
“A flower with a woman in the center?” She frowned and asked, “What do you call this coffee?”
The server grinned and explained, “This is part of our creative coffee series. Its name is a bit cheeky—it’s called ‘Heartbreaker Woman.’”
“…”
Sophia took a deep breath, her mood souring.
Heartbreaker Woman? What exactly was Scott trying to imply? Was he accusing her of being unfaithful?
He was provoking her yet again. Did he think she was someone to be trifled with?
With a cold scoff, Sophia said, “Bring me the menu for your creative coffee series. I’d like to see what else you have.”
The server quickly returned with the menu. Flipping through it, Sophia noticed another option listed under “Heartbreaker Woman”—a drink named “Couple Coffee.”
