Dr. Sophia – Chapter 145

Dinner

Olivia suddenly felt a sense of crisis. “Mom, who is this young lady?”

“Her?” Andrea smiled. “She’s Kim Brown, the girl I introduced to your Uncle as a match!”

“Oh…” Olivia immediately relaxed. As an actress, being able to read the room was an essential skill. She could clearly see that the Scott family wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about her marriage to Scott Henry. Now, she was constantly wary of any women around Scott Henry, afraid of unexpected changes.

“Come, Kim. It’s your first time joining us for dinner at home. Sit here—this is the spot Uncle usually sits.”

Kim smiled gracefully and took her seat.

Kim was stunningly beautiful, with an extraordinary aura. Tall and elegant, her looks were top-tier—even among entertainers, she would be considered a knockout. More importantly, she was born into a privileged family, pampered as the only child by her parents.

Olivia suddenly realized why the Scott family wasn’t rushing to welcome her. Compared to Kim, Olivia’s background was far less impressive. Olivia’s parents had always favored her brother and had pushed her to fend for herself from a young age. Later, in the entertainment industry, she was constantly pressured to earn money to buy her brother a house, car, and even pay for his wedding. Over the years, she had supported her family extensively.

Kim, on the other hand, was the complete opposite—a cherished only child with no burdens or familial pressures. A woman like Kim was naturally more desirable to men.

Kim quickly became the center of attention at the table, and Olivia, who was usually treated as a guest of honor, found herself overshadowed.

The thought that Kim might marry Scott Livinus and secure a better position than herself only made Olivia feel more frustrated.

“Miss Kim, have you met Scott Livinus—Uncle?” Olivia asked with a hint of probing.

Kim smiled lightly. “Yes, we’ve had coffee together and chatted for about half an hour.”

“Half an hour?”

Olivia frowned, finding it hard to imagine Scott Livinus, who rarely spoke more than a few sentences a day, chatting with someone for that long. It must mean he truly liked her.

“Then he must like you a lot?”

Kim smiled and shook her head. “I wouldn’t dare assume that. We’re just friends.”

“Oh, you young people! Starting as friends and then becoming partners makes the relationship stronger!” Andrea chimed in as she invited everyone to the table.

Sophia came downstairs at that moment, wearing a black tank top and shorts. It seemed she had just taken a shower. Her damp black hair framed her porcelain-like skin. Although her movements were casual, her beauty was breathtaking.

It was Kim’s first time seeing her, and she was momentarily stunned before regaining her composure. “And this is…?”

Andrea’s expression turned cold, but the family patriarch answered, “This is Sophia, Scott Henry’s wife—soon to be divorced!”

“Oh!” Kim responded with a faint smile and didn’t engage further.

Sophia greeted her politely and began eating.

Just then, the door opened, and Scott Livinus walked in. Seeing everyone gathered, he removed his suit jacket and joined them.

He wasn’t wearing a tie today, and with three buttons undone on his shirt, he looked effortlessly chic, a stark contrast to his usual restrained demeanor.

“Mr. Scott~” Kim teased. “We meet again!”

Scott Livinus smiled—a rare sight. “What brings you here?”

“Andrea invited me over for dinner. My parents brought some specialties from Canada, and I thought I’d share them with your grandparents.”

“Is that so?” Scott Livinus said, sitting next to her.

Andrea, noticing their chemistry, exclaimed, “You two make such a great match, don’t you agree, Mom and Dad?”

The patriarch and matriarch of the Scott family were delighted. It wasn’t so much about being impressed by Kim but because Scott Livinus had never brought a woman home before. Seeing their most accomplished son still single in his thirties worried them. They didn’t dare push him, as he was beyond being controlled. Now, witnessing his willingness to attend an arranged meeting and interact positively with Kim gave them hope.

“Yes, as long as the young people are happy, we have no objections. If this works out, Andrea, you deserve credit!” the matriarch said with a smile.

Andrea beamed with excitement.

Scott Livinus glanced at Sophia, who was focused on eating. Her calm demeanor seemed unaffected by the lively conversation around her. She didn’t even look up, as if everyone else was irrelevant.

At that moment, Scott Henry walked in. Seeing Kim and Scott Livinus together, his brows furrowed even more.

Was this real? Had Scott Livinus brought his match home? Could it mean he and Sophia truly had nothing going on?

Impossible! He had seen them hugging tightly just the other day.

“Mom, who is this?” Scott Henry asked.

“She’s Kim Brown, the girl I told you about—your Uncle’s match,” Andrea replied.

Scott Henry smiled at Kim and joked, “Uncle, Miss Kim is very pretty! She’s more than qualified to be my future Aunt!”

Scott Livinus chuckled lightly. “Henry, do you think finding a partner is like passing an exam?”

“No.”

“In that case, what’s with the qualifications? If it’s someone I like, no matter how flawed, they qualify. If I don’t like them, no matter how perfect, they don’t. Wouldn’t you agree?”

His tone was light, but his gaze, cold and sharp, swept over Scott Henry. The others noticed nothing, but Henry felt the subtle challenge in his words.

What was Scott Livinus implying? Was he suggesting that even if Sophia didn’t meet certain criteria, she would still be good enough for him if he liked her?

But then, where did that leave Kim?

“Henry, your Uncle is right. Miss Kim isn’t here for an exam—it’s just a casual family dinner. Don’t make her nervous!”

Kim smiled gracefully. “I don’t think Henry meant it that way. He’s just being thoughtful.”

Henry smiled appreciatively, forming a good impression of Kim.

Nearby, Olivia tugged at his arm, pouting. “Henry, I want some chicken. Can you get me some?”

Sophia was just about to pick up a piece of chicken when Henry reached over, bypassed her, and placed the drumstick into Olivia’s bowl.

Olivia smirked triumphantly, lifting her chin. “Miss Kim, in the future, Mr. Scott will treat you the same way. You have no idea how good Henry is to me. The men of the Scott family always treat their women well.”

“Is that so?” Kim replied with a faint smile.
