Dr. Sophia – Chapter 141

The Plan

Who would have thought that Dr.Cooper would follow her out? He sneered coldly and said:

“Dr. Smith, if you can hand over the formula, our hospital will give you an award.”

Sophia turned back, her expression indifferent. “Do you think I care about a mere award?”

Dr.Cooper replied unpleasantly, “Don’t overestimate yourself! You’re still just an intern at the hospital. If you offend the hospital and tarnish your reputation, it might affect your graduation. That wouldn’t be good!”

Sophia smirked immediately and sneered, asking, “Dr.Cooper, is this how you’ve threatened other interns in the past?”

“What?” He was stunned.

“Do you know how disgusting you look when you threaten people like this? Using my internship and graduation as leverage? Go ahead, try it! I’m telling you now: I’ll hold you fully accountable if anything goes wrong with my graduation!”

Being threatened by an intern, Dr.Cooper turned red with anger.

“You’d better not toast to your own misfortune!”

Sophia shrugged, smiling cheerfully.

“Don’t worry about me, Dr.Cooper. It would help if you were more concerned about improving your professional skills. Ensure you can at least tell the difference between pneumonia and shadows caused by outdated equipment.”

Dr.Cooper’s face twisted in anger, his gaze venomous.

Sophia was referring to a recent incident in the hospital. A patient had brought in X-rays, and Dr.Cooper, after reviewing them, concluded that the shadows on the lungs indicated pneumonia. The child was admitted to the hospital for an extended stay. However, after seven or eight days of IV treatment, the child showed no improvement. Frustrated, the family sought answers from Dr.Cooper.

Sophia happened to pass by and took a glance at the X-rays. She immediately smiled and said:

“This child doesn’t have pneumonia. The shadow on the X-rays is caused by outdated equipment. Take the child home now!”

This caused the parents to storm into Dr.Cooper’s office to demand an explanation.

The incident severely damaged Dr.Cooper’s credibility. He believed Sophia had intentionally undermined him, leading to his deep dislike of her.

“You’re just a traditional medicine practitioner. What do you know about reading X-rays?”

Sophia smiled lightly. Although she practiced traditional medicine, her previous training required proficiency in both traditional and modern medicine. She excelled in all aspects, including anatomy, and reading X-rays was hardly a challenge for her.

“Dr.Cooper, believe me,” Sophia said with a wave of her hand, smiling. “Reading a chest X-ray is something even an intern can handle!”

Dr.Cooper was furious!

After Sophia left, Director Jake was called out by his wife.

“What are you planning to do now?” she asked.

Jake was puzzled. “Are you talking about…?”

“Yes, I’m talking about the house. Even Dr. Mateo knows about it now. You said you’d give Sophia a house if she cured your grandson. Now the child’s condition is improving, and he’ll likely be walking soon!”

The director was also troubled. He had promised to give away a house to motivate Sophia to treat him.

“How was I supposed to know she’d cure polio so easily? If I had known she could fix it so effortlessly, I never would have made that kind of promise.”

His wife was livid. “This is all your fault! That house is worth five million dollars! We bought it for just over a million! What are you planning to do now? Are you seriously going to give it to her? Besides, if she cured the child so easily, it proves the illness wasn’t that hard to treat. Polio isn’t worth that much!”

The director frowned, seeing her point.

“You’re right. We can’t give away the house. Her internship file is still at my hospital. As the dean, I even asked an intern to treat my grandson. That’s already giving her enough credit. Besides, wasn’t she just using my grandson to test her new formula? I owe her nothing.”

“Exactly! We can’t give away the house!”

The couple reached an agreement after their discussion.

Sophia, enjoying a rare moment of free time, went to visit Barbara and the others. They hadn’t seen each other since their last meeting at the bar.

They weren’t in the outpatient clinic today but were in the ward writing medical records. When they saw her, they were all surprised.

Barbara walked up to her. Though smiling, her expression was hesitant.

Sophia noticed something was off immediately. She glanced at Anna, who seemed uneasy and unlike her usual self. In the past, Anna would rush over to chatter excitedly with her, but now she kept her head down, looking distant.

“What’s wrong?” Sophia asked.

Barbara whispered, “Well… Anna’s boyfriend, Nathan, said you were flirting with him.”
