Destined to Rise – Chapter 77

Old Lady

As long as Wesley didn’t hang around the village, after a while, who would remember those rumors? This was truly saving the Whitaker family’s daughter’s life.

Once the storm passed, she could marry into a family further away, and this matter would be forgotten, right?

Watching coldly, the father, Whitaker Chris, couldn’t figure it out, but he was certainly happy that Wesley was caught.

Maria, as the aunt, smiled too forcedly, while T Aunt Veronica’s expression changed repeatedly, not knowing what to think.

Is this the Whitaker family that produced a female college student?

The people of Techspire Village shook their heads secretly.

Whitaker Chris didn’t care, “Scarlett and the others still don’t know. I need to go tell them this news.”

After taking a couple of steps, he remembered that he had just divorced Elizabeth. The mother and daughter watched him get beaten by the people from Wellwater Village, yet they remained cold as ice. Whitaker Chris’s happiness vanished completely.

He dragged his heavy footsteps back to the Whitaker family.

Maria had a lot to say, and Veronica seemed to have her own thoughts.

When Old Lady Whitaker saw only three people return, she had a feeling that they definitely hadn’t brought anyone back. Scarlett had a bad temper, after all.

“What’s going on? Are they still putting on airs? Do they expect the old woman to go pick them up herself?”

Whitaker Chris shook his head.

Veronica spoke quickly, “Mother, Sister-in-law, and Brother have divorced. William gathered a group of people from Wellwater Village and beat up Brother, even forcing him to leave a fingerprint on some document.”

The Whitaker family refused to believe it.

But Whitaker Chris was still injured, and the three of them wouldn’t lie about something like this.

Old Lady Whitaker immediately began to moan, cursing Scarlett and her mother, calling Scarlett a little tramp and Elizabeth a big whore.

“How could my sister-in-law bring up divorce? She must have been forced by the Miller Family.”

Whitaker Albert tried to regain some face while Veronica foolishly retorted, “Oh, it was really Elizabeth who brought it up herself, with a cold face the whole time, as if the Whitaker family owed her money and hadn’t paid it back!”

Veronica couldn’t understand Elizabeth’s behavior and hoped someone would clarify it for her.

Old Lady felt like her head was about to explode. Ever since Whitaker Rosalie got into college, she felt the Whitaker family had risen above others. She disliked that Elizabeth couldn’t give birth to a son and wanted to kick her out, but the Whitaker family held the initiative!

How dare that wretched Elizabeth bring up divorce?

Old Lady voice was loud enough for half the village to hear. It was truly a rare event; Whitaker Chris’s wife had run back to her family for over ten days, and before dawn, Whitaker Chris went to pick her up, but she didn’t come back. Elizabeth had divorced him?!

The Whitaker family’s joke this year would be talked about for a whole year.

Whitaker Chris was in a daze, his male pride severely wounded. He resolved that if Elizabeth ever regretted it and wanted to come back, no matter how pitifully she cried, he wouldn’t soften his heart!

The news of Elizabeth wanting a divorce turned the Whitaker family upside down, and the whole Larkspur Village was buzzing with gossip.

Whitaker Albert dryly comforted Whitaker Chris a few times, then privately asked Maria to recount what had happened.

“Is it really a divorce?”

“Of course, it’s true. They wrote three identical documents, and both Chris and Elizabeth left their fingerprints. The village head from Wellwater said he would take the documents to the county civil affairs bureau.”

Maria was worried, “On the way back, I heard that Wesley was caught, and they said he would be heavily sentenced for burglary. Do you think we should send a telegram to Rosalie?”

Wesley’s arrest was not unrelated to his chaotic relationships.

Scarlett was no longer implicated; this card was now void. Before Whitaker Rosalie went to Washington, he had instructed them to keep a close watch on Scarlett, but no one had expected Elizabeth to divorce Whitaker Chris, let alone keep an eye on Scarlett. She wouldn’t come back to the Whitaker family at all!

Scarlett had already broken free from their control.

Maria couldn’t solve it with her abilities, and Whitaker Albert had no ideas either.

“Tomorrow, I’ll find an excuse to go to the county and send a telegram to Rosalie and also inquire about Wesley’s situation.”

The Whitaker family was in chaos.
