The person who accused Marshall remained expressionless and kicked the lying Marshall, “Going to the police station is too much trouble. I’ll help you two reach a settlement. You are quite fierce, woman… You can fight, but can your friend behind you fight? She’s from out of town, right? She’s been running around Sablewick for the past two months. You can keep protecting her, but there will always be a time when she’s alone. If something unexpected happens then, you won’t be able to catch up, right?”
This person pretended to be fair but was clearly biased.
He didn’t hide his intentions at all; it was obvious he was in cahoots with Marshall and the others. One group played the bad cop while the other played the good cop, pretending to mediate, but in reality, they were just trying to extort money for a “settlement.”
Sanders Wren was so angry that she clenched her fists.
She almost couldn’t hold back her temper!
However, she had heard that these people at the station were part of a gang. What if they really caused trouble for Whitaker Scarlett?
Whitaker Scarlett handed her bag to Sanders Wren, the thick sleeves perfectly hiding the stun gun in her hand. She shook her head at Sanders Wren and stepped in front. Without even looking at the pretending-to-be-dead Marshall or the lackeys gathering around, her gaze fell on the face of the mediator.
A young man in his twenties, not particularly tall, with a slightly round face, looking quite amiable.
Such a person who could take charge must be very clever.
“You are the one in charge, right? What should I call you?”
Whitaker Scarlett’s face was so beautiful that any man who could withstand her gaze without blushing was probably a rogue with ulterior motives. It turned out that it wasn’t just her luck; someone had been eyeing her all along, and they probably hadn’t acted before because they hadn’t found the right opportunity.
Finally seeing her come to Sablewick alone, they must seize the chance!
The round-faced man smiled, “What do you mean by in charge? I don’t understand, but if you want to ask my name, does that mean you are interested in me?”
Marshall got up from the ground and shooed away the onlookers.
Whitaker Scarlett’s expression darkened, “So there’s nothing to discuss if we talk nicely? I can’t fight, but I dare to come to Sablewick alone. I can’t possibly have no support at all.”
It’s not easy for a woman to make a living, and it’s especially difficult for a beautiful woman to earn some honest money. Whitaker Scarlett had long been mentally prepared for such malicious harassment. She didn’t shout or threaten right away, thinking that the other party could still be reasoned with—if they couldn’t be reasoned with, there were ways to deal with that too.
Sometimes, it’s better to lose money than to suffer disaster; beyond that, she couldn’t back down.
The round-faced man looked at her for a while, “The man who accompanied you last time seemed quite capable… I don’t want to do anything to you; I just want to be friends with a beautiful girl. My name is Lawson.”
Using extortion to make friends?
Before Whitaker Scarlett could respond, Sanders Wren’s expression changed.
“You are Lawson?”
This was a notorious figure; how could he personally come to the train station to extort someone? They said Lawson had no weaknesses, except for being lecherous… Thinking of Whitaker Scarlett’s face, Sanders Wren became more vigilant.
Lawson glanced at Sanders Wren, “You’ve heard of my name.”
“My brother is Sanders Daxton!”
Lawson thought for a moment and seemed quite reluctant to let Whitaker Scarlett go, “Then today, I can only let you go. I’m not afraid of Sanders Daxton; I just owe him a small favor.”
Marshall panicked, “Boss…”
Didn’t he like that beautiful woman? They had set up for a long time at the station and had connections, wanting to gain both money and people. How could they let her go so easily?
“Thank you!”
Sanders Wren quickly pulled Whitaker Scarlett away.
Lawson stood there watching Whitaker Scarlett’s back, truly a beautiful woman. He had noticed her since the first time she came to Sablewick and had naturally found out she was Sanders Daxton’s sister.
