Destined to Rise – Chapter 136

Forgave

Carson had a terrible impression of the Whitaker Family members other than Whitaker Scarlett!

Whitaker Chris, who beat women; Maria, who always thought she was right; and the nagging Veronica. What kind of people were the Whitaker Family? Didn’t everyone in Wellwater Village know? When Elizabeth divorced, everyone in Wellwater Village felt relieved.  It was finally a moment of defiance.

Amanda didn’t understand public opinion, but she spent her free time desperately trying to clear Whitaker Scarlett and Elizabeth’s names. The central idea was how terrible the Whitaker Family Elizabeth married was. Carson even helped write the divorce document that day. Whitaker Chris was held down by the villagers, and everyone wanted to beat him up—Scarlett had a really hard time before!

Why couldn’t these people just leave Scarlett alone?

Carson’s feelings for Whitaker Scarlett weren’t just l**t at first sight. Whitaker Scarlett’s excellence also made Carson admire her. Someone came to slander Whitaker Scarlett, and Carson was furious! Did this person tell lies to other County East High  School students? Would it affect Scarlett’s college entrance examination next year? Carson was both anxious and angry. If Helen were a man, he would have beaten her to the ground!

Helen took two steps back.

She was a Whitaker Family member!

Apart from Whitaker Scarlett, which Whitaker Family member wasn’t embarrassing? Her cousin Rosalie was a university student, and her future brother-in-law, Walter, was also a university student. As a Whitaker Family member, Helen was proud and self-satisfied.

“You, I’m afraid you’ll be deceived, and I’m just kindly reminding you, is there anything wrong with that? What kind of person is Whitaker Scarlett? Just go to Larkspur Village and ask around!”

“Don’t take advantage of being a woman. If you dare to talk nonsense again, I’ll have someone beat you up!”

Carson warned Helen in turn. Everything was different from what Helen had expected. The leaders of County East High School, the gatekeeper, and Whitaker Scarlett’s new boyfriend, why didn’t anyone believe that Whitaker Scarlett was a hussy?

Helen simply didn’t understand. Whitaker Scarlett earned the respect of others through her abilities, not her looks.

Whitaker Scarlett’s face was trouble-making, but she didn’t rely on her looks to survive. People valued her because she was capable… As long as this didn’t change, reputation was worthless!

Helen was limited by her horizons and might never understand this.

She didn’t achieve her goal. After pestering Carson for a while, he ignored her and defended Whitaker Scarlett, making Helen feel bored.

When she returned to Snack Bar dejectedly, Maria held her breath and pulled her aside:

“Have you been feeling unwell lately? If you can’t adapt to the workload in the shop, go back to the village to rest for a few days. Auntie feels sorry for you and is afraid of tiring you out…”

Maria’s words sounded nice, but she was actually asking Helen to return to Larkspur Village.

Helen suddenly woke up. The work in the snack bar was indeed tiring, but did she want to go back to the countryside? No, the life of people in the city was different from that in Larkspur Village. Helen didn’t want to go back to the village!

“Auntie, I saw Whitaker Scarlett a few days ago, and she seems to have found a boyfriend at County East High School.”

Helen stammered.

She completely ignored what the school gatekeeper had said. How could Whitaker Scarlett be a student at County East High School? No student would miss classes for days.

Maria held Helen’s hand, her grip too strong, making Helen wince in pain.

“Auntie! It hurts!”

“When did you see Scarlett? Why didn’t you say it earlier?”

Maria realized that her expression was not good and loosened her grip, adding a few words: “How is Scarlett doing? She found a boyfriend so quickly, and the incident hasn’t even passed… Oh, your aunt took her away from the Whitaker Family, and it’s difficult for us to care about Scarlett.”

Helen couldn’t distinguish good from bad.

Or perhaps Maria’s disguise was perfect. Helen thought Maria genuinely cared about Whitaker Scarlett, and Helen was jealous and angry:

“Whitaker Scarlett even competed with Rosalie for a man, shamelessly doing such a thing, and still thinks the Whitaker Family wronged her… She and her mother messed up the family and angered Grandma. Now she’s living a good life?”

Helen became more and more excited, “Rosalie forgave her, but I won’t let her off!”
