Washington.
After a trip to Haborfield, making a lot of money, Leo was a bit cocky among his group of friends.
Leo’s family wasn’t poor.
However, his father died early, and his grandfather had retired from his position long ago. The most influential person in the Howard family now was Leo’s uncle. An uncle’s love for his nephew is always a bit distant. The second uncle also had his own children to raise, so he couldn’t take care of Leo in everything.
He arranged a job for Leo, neither good nor bad, just something to do for now.
Fortunately, Leo was capable. In other people’s words, this kid knew how to “burn a hot stove.” Among so many people in the compound, Leo had followed Kay since childhood, always liked to follow behind Kay. Kay was the leader among the children since he was young. Not only did those younger than him call him brother, but even those a few years older than him had to bow to him.
Now that everyone was older, some people had to maintain face and politely call him “Kay.”
The was at its peak, and Kay was different from the unfortunate Leo. His future had been planned long ago. A while ago, Kay had been given a disciplinary penalty, and he returned from the army silently… Others thought Kay had been expelled from the army, but they didn’t know that Kay himself hadn’t figured things out.
He hadn’t done anything wrong, but he was unwilling to accept the disciplinary penalty, so he simply took a leave of absence and stayed home.
Leo, who had played with him since childhood, his father had died on the front lines, and his grandmother firmly opposed Leo joining the army.
Studying? Leo didn’t have the brains for it.
Neither high nor low, his job was mediocre, and it didn’t seem bad now, but in a few years, the gap between people would become apparent.
Leo himself was quite pessimistic, so he went to Kay, and Kay took him on a trip to Haborfield.
This trip filled Leo’s pockets with money.
Kay had said it was just one trip, but now he was planning a second one.
Leo was terrified, afraid that the Watson family would come after him.
Kay had a great future. This kind of work was profitable, but nothing was more important than Kay’s future!
Leo sat at home, feeling as if a handful of nails were scattered beneath his buttocks.
Unable to bear it any longer, he went to find Kay.
He frequently visited the Watson family , and the Watson family was familiar with Leo, but Leo was somewhat afraid of Kay’s father. He deliberately chose to go at noon, a time when Uncle Watson family would not be home.
When Leo arrived, Kay was fiddling with a pile of gadgets in his room.
“Kay, what are you doing?”
Kay put the things into a bag, “Your sister-in-law goes everywhere alone, so I’m getting her some self-defense tools.”
These things were not easy to obtain; there were no civilian versions available. Kay had gone to great lengths to get them. If he hadn’t been waiting for the goods, he would have gone to Greenfield County long ago and wouldn’t have stayed home for two weeks.
Leo closed the door with a shifty look.
“Kay, are you still going to Greenfield?”
“Do you find me annoying? Think you’ve got your own path figured out and want to go solo? Fine, I’ll find a car, we’ll each carry our own goods. My previous offer still stands: the old route is yours, I’ll find a new path.”
Kay’s words almost brought Leo to tears.
Leo knew better than anyone how profitable Kay’s methods were. Even brothers wouldn’t necessarily share their profitable ventures, the profit margins were enormous. Kay wasn’t without brothers; if not blood brothers, there were cousins. Kay was helping him out of sympathy.
“I, your brother, spoke out of line. I apologize, brother. Please don’t leave me out… Brother Kay, if you’ll take me with you, I’ll be eternally grateful!”
“Alright, I know what you mean.”
Kay didn’t deny his love for Whitaker Scarlett at first sight.
Men pursue women, which always creates more opportunities to meet. Kay understood that delaying his return would affect his future; the disciplinary action against him had a new explanation. It wasn’t entirely due to the Watson family; a high-ranking leader favored Kay and was willing to intervene in his affairs.
But this was his first time falling in love, and he couldn’t control his feelings, nor did he want to.
