“Think about what we should do next. Let’s try everything that others do.”
He didn’t understand why he kept pushing her to think.
It was frustrating at times, but Lola answered differently than she thought.
“Okay. But, Dear, I can’t be away for long, so I think I should go in now.”
“Oh, okay!”
Dylan reached out his hand. It was a sign for her to take it.
After hesitating for a moment, Lola finally mustered the courage to take his hand and walked alongside him.
His hand was always warm. She didn’t know why that warm feeling was so nice.
As they almost reached the hospital entrance, Lola said her goodbye.
“Dear, then I’ll go in now. Drive safely.”
“Yeah.”
As soon as Dylan let go of her hand, Lola turned and hurriedly ran toward the entrance. Dylan’s lips curled up slightly as he watched her back as she opened the door and went inside.
He was known as a cold-hearted man who had no interest in women, and he even avoided physical contact with them.
Yet, holding hands and kissing Lola didn’t give him any feelings of discomfort or unease.
To be honest, he didn’t dislike that feeling.
He didn’t know why.
******
Early morning, at St Mark University Hospital.
As soon as Nurse Sasha saw Gia in front of the station, she asked bluntly.
“Instructor Gia, is it true that Lola is dating these days?”
“Why do you ask that?”
Nurse Sasha shot her a look that said, “You know very well why,” as Gia feigned ignorance.
“Why? I saw Instructor Gia’s Big brother bringing a bouquet to Lola yesterday. They looked really close.”
“Is that so?”
“Then what? Instructor Gia and Lola are going to be sister-in-law and sister-in-law?”
As Gia hesitated to say anything, Nurse Sasha rambled on. Just then, as Lola approached, Nurse Sasha wore a subtle smile and asked the same question.
“Lola, is it true that you’re dating Instructor Gia’s Big Brother? Is that why you look prettier than before?”
Lola’s awkward smile turned slightly pink. When she inadvertently turned her head, her gaze met Gia’s.
The hospital was known for how quickly rumors spread. So, it wouldn’t be long before the news of her dating Gia’s Big Brother would circulate widely.
She could endure such rumors easily. What was more burdensome and difficult was facing Gia’s expression. But she couldn’t keep avoiding Gia because of the awkward feeling.
After calming her heart with effort, Lola cautiously asked.
“Gia, do you have a moment?”
“Why?”
“I wanted to talk to you.”
Gia nodded and moved first. Lola followed behind. Nurse Sasha leaned in, curiously watching the two from behind.
A little later, in a quiet hospital corridor.
The two stood side by side, looking out the window. Gia patiently waited for Lola to speak.
“Gia, actually, I’m dating Dylan, your Big Brother…”
Lola bit her lip, nervous after getting that far. Gia picked up where Lola left off.
“I know you’re dating Big Brother.”
“I’m sorry, Gia.”
“Why are you sorry?”
Gia turned her gaze from the window to look at Lola, who wore a serious expression as if she was carefully choosing her words.
“I was worried about how you might feel about me, and I was anxious that I might lose a good friend. So, it hasn’t been easy for me to see your face lately.”
“Don’t be silly. Why are you sorry?”
A soft sigh escaped Gia’s lips.
“I was worried you might get hurt. Our Big Brother can be quite prickly, you know. You know how he can be cold and harsh, and sometimes he has a terrible temper. I was worried that kind-hearted Lola might get hurt. You’re a precious friend to me.”
Hearing Gia’s words, Lola finally relaxed and returned to her usual bright expression.
“If you date Big Brother and get married, I’d honestly be grateful. I was worried about who would take such a cold and emotionless man like our Big Brother.”
Lola smiled lightly.
It was true that he had cold, icy eyes, but it didn’t seem like that was all there was to him.
It made her think that perhaps what she and Gia knew about Dylan Eve was just the tip of the iceberg.
“But you were scared of our Big Brother, right? Are you okay now?”
No, she wasn’t okay. To be honest, her feelings were complicated.
Even though she had feelings for him, there were times when she felt nervous and scared when she met his gaze.
So, it was hard not to find it strange to be dating someone like that, yet she didn’t feel any aversion to him. It was something she couldn’t understand even when she thought about it.
Lola hadn’t answered yet, but Gia asked another question.
