“I got it!”
Seeing Gia pout, Dylan still felt uneasy.
It didn’t seem like she had called him out just to casually have a meal together.
Her intentions didn’t appear simple at all, so Dylan took the initiative.
“Gia Eve, you have something to say to me, don’t you? What is it?”
It was uncanny.
Gia was taken aback by Dylan’s sharp insight that seemed to pierce through her very being.
She spoke quietly, “Big Brother, there’s something I haven’t told Lola.”
“What is it?”
Dylan urged her to continue with both words and gestures.
“Lola doesn’t know that I’m adopted. We’ve been precious friends for 14 years, but we respected each other’s privacy.”
“And?”
“I think Lola should know now. If she’s marrying you, she’s becoming family. There shouldn’t be secrets between a couple.”
Although Dylan and Gia were siblings with no blood relation, he had never once thought of her as anything other than his real sister.
Their parents felt the same way. So, he thought there was no need to tell Lola.
But after hearing Gia’s words, he felt that his thinking might be a bit off.
“Got it. I’ll find a chance to tell her.”
“Big Brother, Lola really likes you a lot. She’s a kind and good woman. Please treat her well.”
“Okay.”
Even without Gia’s prompting, Dylan had already planned to treat Lola well.
“Don’t make Lola cry, and make sure to smile a lot. Live happily with her.”
“Okay.”
Normally, he would have scolded her to take care of herself, but Dylan’s surprisingly compliant response made Gia tilt her head in confusion.
Dylan’s obedient attitude was hard for her to get used to.
So, she asked somewhat awkwardly, “Big Brother, is there something wrong with you?”
“What are you talking about all of a sudden?”
Seeing Dylan’s indifferent gaze, Gia quickly waved her hands.
“Nothing. Let’s just finish our meal.”
“Didn’t you already finish?”
“I’m still not full.”
It wasn’t a lie.
Now, Gia could eat comfortably with a much lighter heart.
She felt a bit disappointed that her brother didn’t want to accept her goodwill, but after their conversation, she had a good feeling.
If it were Lola, she could make her brother smile a lot, and if it were her brother, he could protect Lola.
Dylan, watching Gia eat with a relaxed expression, unconsciously thought of Lola.
It seemed Lola still couldn’t recall the events of that night.
Tomorrow, they were supposed to go together to fit her wedding dress.
If it weren’t for the law school alumni gathering in the evening, he would have spent the night with Lola today.
Not knowing when the drinking party would end, he couldn’t carelessly make plans. It was disappointing, but to avoid showing it, Dylan had to swallow the sigh that was about to escape.
*******
At the same time.
Lola was also meeting someone at a café near the hospital.
The ‘guest’ who had come without notice was not welcome at all.
As a result, Lola’s expression, sitting across from the guest, was flustered and complicated.
“Why did you come suddenly without contacting me?”
Her tone was not friendly at all.
The guest’s face also showed great displeasure at Lola’s attitude.
“Do I need to ask for permission to meet you?”
“You know I’m busy.”
“How can you, a child, decide to get married without consulting the adults? I can’t believe you’re in your right mind.”
It seemed the blind date man couldn’t hold back and had spilled everything.
Honestly, he was a man who had not impressed her at all from their first meeting.
“I’ve told you several times that I’m seeing someone. He’s a good person…”
“So, who is he?”
“I mentioned I would bring him to introduce to you.”
No matter how much she tried to calmly persuade the unexpected intruder to leave,
“Bring that man to me right now!”
The guest made an absurd demand, putting Lola in a difficult position.
“Mom!”
Feeling unpleasant, Lola unconsciously raised her voice.
“Wow! What’s with the shouting?”
Lola’s mother, Paulina Dax, seemed to be in a worse mood.
Paulina, with a displeased expression, gulped down the water in front of her as if to quench her thirst.
“What’s wrong with the man your aunt introduced? What don’t you like about him? He comes from a good family, and he runs a café. Isn’t that enough? What more do you want?”
It seemed that her mother was quite fond of the matchmaker’s man, who came off as rude and unlikable.
What on earth was so good about such a person?
Lola was dumbfounded.
“What does someone who has never even dated know about relationships? Are you sure you’re not meeting someone strange?”
It wasn’t that Lola didn’t understand why her mother thought that way.
As her mother said, she had never been in a relationship before.
However, feeling offended by her mother’s careless remarks about Dylan Eve, whom she was seeing, Lola immediately retorted.
