Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 72

Terrible joke

“Yeah. Lola agreed too.”

-This is… a huge deal!

Seemingly shocked, Gia fell silent for a while before asking hesitantly.

-Did you get someone pregnant?

“Gia Eve, that’s a terrible joke.”

-Then why are you in such a hurry to get married?

“Still better than you. At least I’ve dated. Hey! When your brother says he’s getting married, aren’t you supposed to congratulate him? Why are you so surprised?”

-Dear, I have to hang up. My heart is racing.

“Yeah, that’s probably for the best. Don’t call me so many times in the future.”

-Then you should pick up the phone quickly.

“As you know, I’m not that free.”

-Yeah, you’re so great. Really!

The call ended, and all that could be heard was the dial tone.

“What a brat!”

Dylan grimaced as he glared at his phone screen.

But that was only for a moment.

Recalling the conversation he had with Lola yesterday, Dylan’s expression softened.

‘I’ll marry you. I’ll marry you, Dear.’

At first, she hesitated, but for some reason, she said she would marry him.

‘Oh, I asked you to think it over and give me an answer.’

‘Even if I think it over, my answer will be the same. I’ll marry you, Dear.’

‘You really won’t regret it?’

Worried that he might have pushed her too hastily and that she might have given a hasty answer, Dylan asked carefully. To him, she replied softly but firmly.

‘No. I won’t regret it.’

Let’s get married.

It might feel a bit sudden and unexpected for Lola, but it wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision. Dylan was sincere.

He felt comfortable and happy when he was with her. Moreover, when he was troubled or anxious, seeing her face quickly brought him peace.

It was a marriage that had to happen anyway. Since she had already confessed that she liked him, what was there to delay any further?

Once they were married, no matter how much Aliza, who had a thick skin, might cling to him, she wouldn’t dare to approach him again.

Dylan stood up from his chair and walked toward the window.

The hot summer was passing by. Autumn would soon arrive.

This fall, he felt he could walk through the maple forest, stepping on fallen leaves with someone.

As her shy face, blushing like she was touched, flashed before his eyes, Dylan felt his heart racing for some reason.

Thump, thump, thump, thump, like that.

This feeling that came to him from time to time still felt strange and unfamiliar, but Dylan didn’t find it too unsettling.

Today, there are many outpatients in the ward.

After seeing all the patients, Gia finally found a moment to breathe and immediately called Dylan as soon as she stepped out of the ward. Even after the call ended, her heart was still racing and it was hard to calm down.

During lunchtime, she was surprised and anxious to hear from her mom that Aliza had come to their house, so she called her brother, only to hear unexpected news.

Her stoic brother was finally getting married to Lola.

This is a good thing. Both of them are with the person they like the most.

So, she should be clapping and congratulating them, but on the other hand, Gia felt a slight worry creeping in.

How long has it been since they started dating?

Or… isn’t this a super-speed marriage?

Still, if the two truly love each other, there shouldn’t be any problem, but if it’s for some unavoidable reason, then that’s a different story.

‘Ugh! Am I being unnecessarily nosy?’

Gia suddenly wanted to know if Lola was thinking the same way as her brother.

When they went to the London Eye villa, the way her brother and Lola interacted seemed warm, and they really looked like they loved each other.

Instead of speculating alone, Gia thought it would be better to confirm directly, so she quickly ran towards where Lola was.

At the same time, Lola was in the emergency room.

Even as a fourth-year resident, there were still days when things got hectic. On such days, there were many patients brought in for suicide attempts, dementia, or alcohol dependence. This meant she received a lot of notifications from interns or junior residents and had to see patients together.

A first-year resident, judging that a dementia patient who had just arrived was very aggressive and dangerous, immediately notified Lola. Lola calmly responded to the emergency situation, instructing her to administer an anti-anxiety medication.

“Have you contacted the patient’s guardian?”

“We can’t get in touch.”

“Keep trying to contact the guardian. If this patient runs away, it could be dangerous, so keep a close watch. If there’s an emergency, call me immediately.”

“Yes, senior.”

Once the emergency room situation was somewhat settled, Lola finally left the emergency room with a lighter heart.
