Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 40

Curt Tone

Late in the evening, as Gia was preparing to leave work, Nia Aliza suddenly showed up without any notice. Nia Aliza seemed to pop up unexpectedly, turning people’s insides upside down like a disturbed beehive. Gia, who had no reason to be pleased with Nia’s presence, openly displayed her displeasure on her face.

Just moments ago, Lola had been smiling and chatting with Gia in front of the station, but upon seeing Nia’s haughty face, her expression instantly hardened.

“What’s going on here?”

Gia asked in a curt tone.

Nia, alternating her gaze between Gia’s annoyed face and Lola’s stiff expression, finally settled her eyes back on Gia.

“I thought we could have dinner together.”

Nia said this while stepping closer and shamelessly linking her arm with Gia’s. Seeing Nia acting so friendly, as if they were very close, Gia felt utterly bewildered.

“Anyone who doesn’t know us would think we’re really close, huh?”

“I want to be friends with you. Actually, I haven’t been in the country for long, so I don’t have many friends.”

The more Nia spoke, the more Gia felt incredulous.

Was this woman just friendly, or was she so open that she had no sense of shame?

Being a timid person, Gia could never be as bold as Nia, and she felt a bit envious of that part of her.

“Anyway, you haven’t had dinner yet, right? So, let’s eat together. I won’t take up too much of your time.”

Aliza said earnestly, almost pleading. Lola wished Gia wouldn’t have dinner with Aliza. Although her heart was in turmoil, Lola tried her best not to show it on her face.

Gia seemed to think for a moment, narrowing her brows, and after a long pause, she spoke.

“If you’re asking so earnestly, it wouldn’t be polite for me to refuse, would it? But you have to buy me expensive meat. I hardly touch regular food.”

Her tone was reluctant, but Aliza seemed relieved that her request wasn’t turned down, and she couldn’t hide her joy. When their eyes met briefly, Aliza smirked and even puffed out her chest.

“Okay.”

Aliza, linking arms with Gia, moved forward with a look that seemed to lift her spirits. Gia, concerned about Lola, kept glancing back as they walked down the hallway. Lola’s gaze looked empty as she watched them.

Gia felt a pang in her heart.

From the moment they entered the hospital until now, Aliza had completely ignored Lola’s presence, not saying a word to her. Up until that moment, Aliza firmly believed she had somewhat succeeded in messing with Lola’s feelings.

However, soon after, contrary to Nia’s thoughts, the situation was gradually reversing and turning upside down.

Nia indeed took Gia to a high-end restaurant as promised.

After being shown to their seats and finishing their menu orders, Gia asked directly with a cold expression.

“Sister, are you interested in our brother?”

“Oh my! Did I make it that obvious?”

Has this woman layered a steel plate on her face?

Seeing Nia, who maintained a relaxed smile while touching her face, Gia felt incredulous.

“From now on, please lose interest in our brother.”

“Why is that?”

Is she asking again even though she knows? Or is she really clueless?

Didn’t Dylan Eve clearly tell this woman?

If so, I need to make it crystal clear. That’s why I came here.

Gia calmly opened her mouth.

“Our brother has a girlfriend. He’s someone who originally had no interest in women. But he and that girl have matching couple rings and have traveled together. Doesn’t it paint a clear picture?”

“I know who your brother’s girlfriend is. It’s Lola Dax, right? But do you think Dylan and Lola Dax make a good match?”

“Whether they match or not, no one has the right to comment. You can’t belittle it, and neither can I. That’s something the two of them have to handle.”

Gia’s expression, as she spoke methodically, appeared calm yet resolute. For some reason, as the atmosphere flowed contrary to her intentions, Nia felt a slight irritation. However, she didn’t show it and deliberately brought up unfavorable points, observing Gia’s reactions as if probing.

“Oh my! I’m just worried about your friend. There’s a saying that birds of a feather flock together. You’re close to Lola Dax, right? Then you can’t just stand by and watch your friend’s misfortune, can you? Do you really think Lola Dax will be happy living with Dylan?”

“I didn’t expect you to be so meddlesome. I’m saying this because I’m worried about you. You said you graduated from the same school as our brother, right? Then you should know his personality well. He doesn’t even glance at someone he’s not interested in. So if you don’t lose interest in him now, you’ll only end up feeling more miserable.”

Not backing down, Gia immediately shot back and added,

“I came here to clarify because I thought you didn’t understand well. And from now on, don’t meddle with our brother or my friends. If you touch either of them, I won’t just stand by and watch. Thank you for the invitation today.”
