Bright morning sunlight poured through the window. As Lola opened her eyes groggily and turned her head, she saw Dylan’s back as he stood looking out the window.
Ah! How can this man look so handsome and cool even from behind?
With his tall stature, broad shoulders, and strong back, Lola sat up carefully in bed, unable to take her eyes off his impressive figure.
Nothing happened last night. She wasn’t sure exactly when she fell asleep, but she felt refreshed, as if she had slept deeply. They had indeed just held hands and slept as she had wished. Lola was growing fonder of him, realizing he was more considerate than she had thought.
Hearing the rustling of the blanket, Dylan finally turned around. When their eyes met, Lola awkwardly smiled and greeted him first.
“Ah, hello. Did you sleep well, Dear?”
Dylan narrowed his eyes.
“Did you sleep well too?”
“Yes.”
“Good to hear!”
Last night, Dylan had been so confused that he hardly slept at all. So, he had woken up early, but he looked completely composed.
“Wash up quickly and come out.”
“Yes.”
Lola walked to the bathroom, holding her change of clothes.
A little later, her phone, which she had left on the nightstand, vibrated. She had no bad habit of snooping through other people’s phones, but the phone vibrated so persistently that she thought it might be an emergency call from the hospital. If that were the case, she needed to be informed immediately.
However, unexpectedly, the caller ID on her phone read “Pretty Girl.” Dylan tilted his head in confusion.
“Pretty Girl?”
Is she a close friend?
While he was thinking that, several text messages came in one after another.
[How was the trip? Did you have fun?]
[The sea was so blue and beautiful. The sky was pretty, and the fluffy clouds were lovely too. I want to go on a trip as well. I envy you.]
Relieved that it wasn’t an emergency call, Dylan felt okay up to that point.
However,
[Did Big Brother bother you? I hope he didn’t treat you harshly. He’s my brother, but sometimes he has a terrible temper, and I worry about that. He shouldn’t treat you like that.]
[Lola, when are you coming back?]
After reading the incoming messages without meaning to miss a single one, Dylan finally realized who the sender was. The corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
Gia Eve is a problem.
She couldn’t say anything helpful about his relationship but instead filled the conversation with unnecessary chatter.
At times like this, she was more of an enemy than a sister.
While Dylan cursed Gia inwardly, he quickly stood up when he heard the bathroom door open, pretending to look out the window again.
Lola approached the nightstand, tying her hair into a ponytail. Then, she picked up her phone to check if any new messages had come in.
A joyful smile blossomed on Lola’s face as she skimmed through Gia’s messages. Dylan, who was watching her expression closely, grumbled.
“You seem happier to see my face.”
In an instant, the smile vanished from Lola’s face. She had no way of knowing that Dylan had seen his phone, so she hurriedly explained, fearing he might misunderstand.
“It’s not a message from a guy. The only guy who would text me is you, Dear. It’s Gia.”
“I didn’t even ask that.”
“W-well, I did.”
She regretted explaining it at all.
Lola lightly bit her lip.
“Why? What did Gia say?”
As if regretting asking, Dylan waved his hand dismissively.
“Knowing her, she probably didn’t say anything good about me. She probably asked if I bothered you or treated you harshly.”
Lola looked at Dylan with wide eyes.
How did he know?
Could it be that he snooped through her text messages?
But Dylan Eve didn’t seem like the type to invade someone’s privacy.
Taking a deep breath, Lola cautiously opened her mouth.
“Dear, Gia doesn’t seem to know you well. You’re not a bad person who would bother someone.”
Dylan cleared his throat awkwardly.
“I’m glad you think that!”
“I’ll reply that this trip with you was special, enjoyable, and fun.”
“I didn’t ask that either.”
Though he said that, Dylan’s mouth lifted at her response. However, as Lola focused on sending a message to Gia, she didn’t notice the change in his expression.
