Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 27

Buying Food

Gia grumbled, cursing Dylan Eve, who couldn’t hear her.

What on earth was Dylan Eve up to?

Even after Nia Aliza had come to see Lola, he hadn’t contacted her at all. Was that even reasonable?

“Gia, what does Dylan like?”

He was always busy, yet he made time to see her. And now, she felt like she had only received from him, so she wanted to do something for him this time.

Even if it was insignificant compared to what he had done for her.

“Why do you ask?”

“I feel like I’ve only been receiving from Big Brother all this time. I want to do something for him too.”

“Isn’t it natural to treat the girl you like well?”

“Come on! Where’s that kind of talk?”

Lola rolled her eyes playfully. Gia shook her head.

“What do you mean, our Lola is too nice?”

“If we’re talking about being nice, you’re the bigger angel.”

“What did I do?”

“You introduced a lawyer to that patient who was hospitalized due to school violence, covered the costs, and paid for her treatment. I still remember that girl’s name clearly. Erin Kyra, who was in room 505. Didn’t she say she wanted to become a teacher?”

“Oh! She said her dream was to become a teacher.”

“You changed that girl’s fate. So Gia is the nicer one.”

“No, Lola is nicer.”

“Lola is nicer, I tell you.”

The two of them complimented each other on being nice and smiled at one another.

After a moment, Lola, curious, asked,

“Does Dylan like sweet things?”

“He eats well without being picky, but he doesn’t like things that are too sweet.”

“Oh! I see.”

Nodding her head, Lola wanted to know a bit more about Dylan Eve, so she asked something else.

“But Gia, how does Dylan relieve stress when he’s feeling stressed?”

Gia suddenly sighed.

What was that sigh about? Lola looked puzzled.

“He doesn’t express his emotions well. Ugh… I really hate it when he does that.”

Gia shuddered at the thought of Dylan Eve’s dry and cold gaze.

“It’s great that he doesn’t drink, but he has one bad habit.”

“A bad habit?”

“When he’s frustrated, he smokes.”

“Smoking is bad for your health.”

“Exactly!”

The two of them chatted about Dylan Eve until they finished their meal. Gia was busy gossiping about him to the point where his ears might be itching, while Lola was too entertained to focus.

That evening.

Wearing the dress Dylan had bought for her and some slightly high wedge heels, Lola had even put on light makeup for a change. She brought along a not-too-sweet green tea chocolate cake and sushi, making her way to the prosecutor’s office building.

However, the prosecutor’s office had restricted access for outsiders. Standing in front of the entrance, she hesitated, wondering if she should call Dylan, when she spotted a familiar face coming out of the entrance. Lola brightened up and approached him.

“Hello.”

At first, Alan didn’t recognize Lola. It was understandable since he had only ever seen her in a white coat with no makeup.

With light makeup and an ivory dress that suited her, she looked more sophisticated and exuded an elegant charm.

“Hello. Aren’t you Gia Eve’s friend?”

Caught off guard by the unexpected encounter, Alan took a moment to respond to Lola’s greeting.

“Yes. I’m Lola Dax.”

“But what brings Lola Dax here?”

Alan couldn’t help but be puzzled about why Gia Eve’s friend would be at the prosecutor’s office. Lola shyly smiled and spoke up.

“Is Dylan still in his office? I came to see him.”

The confusion on Alan Jay’s face deepened.

Lola Dax came to see a prosecutor?

Only after seeing the cake and paper bag in Lola’s hands did Alan finally have a clue.

Could it be that the woman who matched rings with a prosecutor was Lola Dax?

If so, when did they start dating?

“I’ll take you to the prosecutor’s office. Follow me.”

“Thank you.”

As Alan spoke kindly, Lola expressed her gratitude respectfully.

Though her high wedge sandals were quite uncomfortable, she walked carefully, straightening her back to avoid falling.

Alan kindly escorted Lola to the front of Dylan’s office before stepping back out.

Taking a deep breath, Lola raised her hand and knocked with a pounding heart.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

“Yes, came the familiar voice, flat and even, making Lola’s heart race.

She wasn’t sure if it was due to nerves or anxiety.

Maybe it was both.

After exhaling deeply, Lola slowly opened the door.

******

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Hearing the knock, Alan, who had just left the office, thought someone had come back for him. But when he saw an unexpected visitor, Dylan was momentarily taken aback, lost for words.

The girl who had come to see him was wearing the dress he had bought for her and was smiling shyly. She looked different from usual and appeared beautiful.
