Huh!
Aunt, if you’re going to introduce someone to your niece, at least recommend a decent man.
Lola felt a twinge of resentment towards her aunt.
According to her aunt, the man came from a decent family and ran a café.
But what good is financial stability if the person is lacking in character?
Lola believed that a person’s character was extremely important.
“Are you shy, Lola? You seem to say very little.”
The man looked at Lola with a lecherous gaze as he slurped his coffee.
“I’m sorry.”
When Lola suddenly apologized, the man’s eyes narrowed.
Lola managed to calm her nervous heart and spoke calmly.
“I don’t think we’re a good match. I’m sorry.”
The man’s expression twisted, as if he hadn’t expected this turn of events.
“Isn’t it a bit early to make such a hasty judgment after just seeing each other for the first time?”
“I’m sorry. I’m just a bit timid. If I upset you, I apologize.”
“Ah, did I rush things? I thought you were lovely, Lola.”
“I’m sorry.”
Lola apologized again and stood up. She grabbed her bag and hurriedly left the table.
Once outside, she exhaled deeply, feeling as if she had just escaped.
Blind dates had become tiresome, and she even felt a chill at the thought of them.
Others said they found good partners through blind dates, but it seemed like luck played a significant role.
Huff!
As she sighed deeply, she noticed a man standing with his back to her, smoking a cigarette. He was tall and looked sturdy from behind. Sensing her presence, he slowly turned his head. When their eyes met, Lola widened her eyes in surprise. The man also seemed taken aback.
“Lola?”
“Dylan.”
Dylan glanced briefly at the coffee shop window before turning his gaze back to Lola. Just as he was about to say something, an unfamiliar voice flew into his ear.
“I was wondering why you rejected me so coldly, but now I see there was a reason.”
The man who had just been on a blind date with Lola wore a displeased expression as he scanned both Lola and Dylan. Ignoring the man’s presence, Dylan grabbed Lola’s arm protectively and strode away.
“Let’s go.”
Normally, Lola would have hesitated at Dylan’s icy demeanor, but because of the unpleasant blind date, she had no choice but to follow him.
Once they reached the parking area, Dylan finally released Lola’s arm.
“Do you come here often?”
“Excuse me?”
“I’m asking if you go on blind dates often.”
Lola let out a deep sigh without realizing it. Dylan seemed to understand her feelings just by looking at her expression.
He appeared to be deep in thought for a moment. As time passed, her parents would likely pressure her to marry more and more.
Now, the nagging was becoming unbearable, and just thinking about blind dates gave her a headache.
If she couldn’t avoid marriage, wouldn’t it be better to live with someone she knew rather than a complete stranger?
In that sense, Lola seemed like a suitable candidate. She was kind, timid, but seemed to speak her mind, and her plain, makeup-free face looked innocent. Plus, since they had known each other for a long time, he had some understanding of her character.
The extremely pragmatic Dylan thought this way at that moment. And that thought slipped out of his mouth.
“Lola, would you like to date me?”
Lola’s eyes widened even more. She couldn’t believe what Dylan had just said.
She even wondered if she was dreaming.
“What?”
She asked back, as if to confirm.
Dylan showed no change in expression.
“It seems you understood me perfectly. Aren’t you tired of these blind dates?”
Lola didn’t respond, lowering her head with a look of despair. Dylan asked again.
“Have you met a suitable partner through all these blind dates?”
Lola, looking down, shook her head.
“So think about it carefully. I won’t force you.”
Dylan then turned to head back to the driver’s seat. After a moment of deep contemplation, Lola raised her head and stammered.
“Y-yes. Let’s date. I’ll date you, Dylan.”
Blind dates had become unbearably tedious and unpleasant. Each man she met only stirred up feelings of disgust.
But Dylan?
Though cold and stiff, compared to the awkward and uncomfortable men she had met, he was a hundred times better.
No, he was handsome and perfect, to the point where she felt he was too good for her to even dare to hope for. Since he was the one who suggested dating first, how could she refuse?
So Lola answered.
“Hey, do you want to date me?”
He threw out the line, which could be considered a confession, as casually as if he were asking to eat.
That was yesterday.
