Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 199

Evidence

“Hoo!!!”

Only after coming out of the hospital room did Lola realize that her whole body was soaked with cold sweat, and she let out a big breath.

Her legs gave way as if the tension had been released, and she staggered. To support her swaying body, Lola leaned against the wall of the hallway and took a calm deep breath.

‘Good job, really good job!’

Praising herself, Lola fiddled with the cell phone in her hoodie pocket.

‘This could be evidence, too, right?’

Anyway, it was clear that someone had ordered Amaya to do this.

Lola took another deep breath and then slowly took a step. Her legs were still wobbly, but she straightened her back and walked.

Soon, she arrived at the elevator, but she was a step late, and the door closed.

She thought she would have to take the next elevator, but the door slid open again. Lola looked a little surprised to see a familiar face in the elevator.

“Aren’t you going to get on?”

Frank said, urging Lola, who was hesitating.

“Ah, yes.”

As soon as Lola got on the elevator, the door closed immediately.

The silence flowed in the desolate space where only the two of them felt awkward, so Lola broke the silence by asking cautiously.

“What brings you here at this hour, Prosecutor?”

“Is it okay for you to be walking around already?”

Instead of answering the question, Frank said in a worried tone. Lola smiled brightly.

“I’m much better now. Thank you for your concern.”

Frank silently looked only at the changing numbers on the instrument panel, and only after a long time did he give a belated answer.

“The suspect will be discharged tomorrow.”

“Ah.”

‘So that’s why you came.’

Lola nodded slightly as if she understood.

“Where are you going? I’ll give you a ride.”

Frank asked, wondering if Lola was going somewhere since she was wearing casual clothes instead of a doctor’s gown.

Lola hesitated slightly before answering.

“I’m going to meet my husband.”

“I see. I’ll give you a ride to the prosecutor’s office.”

Frank didn’t ask what she was going to do at the prosecutor’s office, and Lola didn’t refuse his kindness.

“Then I’ll take you up on your offer, Prosecutor. Thank you.”

Just as the elevator arrived on the first floor,

“Well, I’ll get it back from Dylan later, so you don’t have to thank me.”

Frank threw out a joke that sounded like the truth and left the elevator first.

Lola followed him with quick steps and cheerfully responded.

“Make sure you get it back from my husband with interest.”

Whether he heard it or not.

Sitting at his desk in the office, Dylan pressed his throbbing temples with his thumb.

At this hour, he should still be in the interrogation room, but the suspect who was being investigated by the prosecution had a stomachache, probably from eating something wrong for lunch, so he had no choice but to temporarily suspend the investigation.

At first, Dylan thought the suspect was using a cheap trick, so he tried to continue the interrogation. There were occasional cases like that, so he didn’t care much, but the suspect was sweating profusely, holding his stomach, and twisting his body, so he didn’t think it would work.

But it didn’t seem like a simple stomachache, and the suspect, who went to the bathroom dozens of times after that, eventually collapsed and was taken to the emergency room.

‘So what did you eat wrong for lunch?’

Dylan was speechless.

Naturally, Dylan, who hated wasting time the most, couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable.

He let out a short sigh, and then reached out and picked up his cell phone.

On the one hand, he comforted himself that it was a good thing that he had time to call Lola.

Just as he was holding his cell phone and about to press the speed dial with Lola’s number saved,

Knock knock!

As the sound of knocking rang out a couple of times, Dylan put his cell phone back on the desk.

As soon as Dylan answered, “Yes,” the door opened and he felt someone’s presence.

“Dear.”

He naturally thought it was an investigator, but when he suddenly heard Lola’s voice, Dylan looked up in disbelief.

But it was Lola.

“Why are you here…?”

Surprised, Dylan hurriedly got up from his seat but couldn’t continue speaking.

He told her to stay quietly at home, but he wondered what urgent matter she had that she came all the way here in her unwell state.

“I have something to tell you, dear.”

How urgent could it be?

She could have told him over the phone, or when he got home later.

With the intention of hearing her out first, Dylan gestured to the chair with his chin.

“Sit down and talk.”

Lola pulled out a chair and sat down, taking out her cell phone. And she found the recorded file on her cell phone and showed it to Dylan.

“Dear, do you think this could be evidence?”

Dylan glanced at Lola once and then turned his gaze to the cell phone, sitting down and clicking the play button.

Soon two voices flowed out.

But as time passed, Dylan’s expression, who was listening to the recording file, gradually changed to a dark and serious one.

Lola didn’t know what she had done wrong, so she nervously swallowed hard.

A moment later, Dylan pressed the stop button, and a quiet silence filled the office where only the two of them were.
