“Dylan.”
Dylan, who was striding towards the parking lot, turned his head at the sound of someone calling him.
Dylan was puzzled to see Frank approaching him with large strides.
“What are you doing here?”
After asking, Dylan nodded as if remembering something.
“Is the suspect awake?”
“Yeah. He’ll probably be discharged as early as tomorrow.”
The two started walking towards the parking lot again, side by side.
“That’s a relief.”
Dylan felt relieved that the dangerous-looking suspect would be discharged soon.
That way, Lola wouldn’t get hurt either.
“Dylan.”
“What?”
‘Ah, seriously. I’m going crazy.’
Frank couldn’t bring himself to say the rest.
He should tell Dylan what happened yesterday, but he couldn’t help but hesitate because of the woman’s desperate request.
“What are you doing, calling someone over and then not saying anything? If you have something to say, say it quickly.”
Dylan frowned and complained, seeing Frank hesitating as if he was about to say something.
“Uh, that’s…”
Just then, Frank’s cell phone vibrated, and he had no choice but to stop talking for a moment.
“Just a moment.”
Dylan’s expression was clearly displeased as he watched Frank take his cell phone out of his pants pocket.
“I’m going crazy.”
Dylan’s brow furrowed slightly as Frank’s mumbling escaped his lips.
He wondered what was going on.
His hesitant appearance, his mumbling, and his troubled expression were unlike Frank, who was always decisive.
“Why? Is something wrong?”
Dylan asked impatiently, but Frank couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
Because Lola had just sent him a text message.
-Prosecutor Frank, this is Lola. I’m sorry for sending you a text message so suddenly. I’ll explain everything to Dylan later, so please just pretend you don’t know anything. Thank you. I won’t forget your kindness and will definitely repay you.
The message contained a desperate feeling.
So,
“No, it’s not urgent, so I’ll tell you later.”
Frank had no choice but to make that excuse.
Dylan clicked his tongue and showed a dismissive reaction, turning around the hood and getting into the car.
However, Frank, who felt incredibly complicated, stayed there for a long time even after Dylan’s car left, and kept sighing endlessly.
*****
The next day.
Leaning against the nurse’s station, Gia looked at the patient’s chart, occasionally tilting her head.
She didn’t seem to have seen Lola during the meeting or when she was making rounds.
‘Is Lola off today?’
That can’t be, Gia thought, tilting her head.
She wondered if something had happened to Lola while she was away for two days, so Gia casually asked Nurse Sasha.
“I haven’t seen my sister-in-law today. Did anything happen while I was gone?”
“Really? Then she must be off.”
Nurse Sasha, who was close to the intern nurse, knew that Lola had been injured. However, because of Lola’s desperate request, she couldn’t honestly tell Gia.
She tried to make up an appropriate excuse, but Gia didn’t seem to believe Nurse Sasha’s words.
“She’s not off.”
“Then, I don’t know either.”
Nurse Sasha mumbled and pretended to be checking orders, avoiding Gia’s gaze.
Feeling uneasy, Gia took out her cell phone from her gown pocket to ask Lola directly. Just as she was about to type a text message, she heard residents whispering nearby.
“I heard there was a big commotion in the VIP ward the day before yesterday?”
“I also heard that a doctor was assaulted.”
“Me too.”
The fact that a doctor was assaulted by a patient wouldn’t be good for the hospital’s image, and it could have a negative impact on other doctors and nurses, so hospital officials strictly ordered people to keep their mouths shut.
But walls have ears.
There were still people who didn’t watch their words, and rumors were bound to spread.
They were whispering quietly so that others wouldn’t understand, but Gia, who had sharp ears, heard everything clearly.
Gia’s eyes turned cold in an instant.
“What are you talking about? Who assaulted whom?”
Gia’s voice was sharp as she suddenly questioned the junior residents.
Only then did the two residents realize their mistake and cover their mouths in surprise.
One of them hurriedly explained.
“We just heard a rumor. We don’t know if it’s true or not.”
‘This hospital really has no secrets. The rumors spread too fast.’
Nurse Sasha, who had lowered her head, sighed inwardly as she listened to their conversation.
“Was it a psychiatrist who got hurt?”
Gia asked again, but
“We don’t know either.”
The two residents mumbled their answers and hurriedly left, afraid of being blamed.
“Nurse Sasha knows something, doesn’t she?”
Gia asked sharply, looking at Nurse Sasha, who was sitting in front of the station.
As Nurse Sasha hesitated to answer, only moving her lips, the head nurse next to her sighed deeply and hesitantly opened her mouth.
“It almost became a big deal.”
“Head Nurse.”
Nurse Sasha tried to stop her, but once the head nurse’s mouth was opened, it couldn’t be easily closed.
“Dr. Gia will find out soon anyway.”
“What happened?”
Gia urged her to continue, feeling anxious for no reason. The head nurse shuddered, recalling what happened the day before yesterday, and mumbled.
“Dr. Lola was injured.”
“Wh-what? What happened to Lola?”
Gia suddenly felt dizzy and pressed her temples with her hands.
