A few days later, during lunchtime.
Lola, who was half-heartedly eating in the cafeteria, wore a troubled expression.
Gia, sitting across from her, asked with concern.
“Do you have something on your mind?”
“Uh? Huh? Um….”
Lola’s lips parted with unclear mumblings, as her mind was elsewhere.
Gia rested her chin on one arm and stared intently at Lola.
“What’s going on? Is it serious?”
“There’s a PTSD seminar by Dr. Peter in Ireland Island the day after tomorrow. Did you sign up?”
“I have back-to-back shifts for two days, so my schedule doesn’t match.”
Gia shrugged, clearly disappointed.
“I see.”
Lola’s voice, which she spoke slowly, was filled with regret.
“Why? Do you want to go?”
“I really want to go to the PTSD seminar, but I also have a wedding shoot coming up, so I don’t know what to do.”
Lola sighed softly, her expression darkening.
“If I say I want to go, your brother might let me.”
Having lived together, she had never been apart from him even once.
Moreover, at night, when his eyes burned with intensity and he transformed into a beast, Lola wasn’t too sure if he would let her go.
“It’s a bit tight on time.”
“Yeah.”
Lola’s voice gradually lost its strength.
“Do you really want to go that badly?”
“It’s a PTSD seminar.”
Lola nodded awkwardly, her expression looking very earnest.
Once, her brother had asked her if she had any trauma.
Seeing her desperate expression, Gia thought there must be something to it and cautiously asked.
“PTSD. Does it… have anything to do with you?”
“No. I just think I’ll encounter a lot of PTSD cases in the future.”
Lola waved her hands in a hurry, and although her explanation seemed excessive, Gia didn’t press further.
“Hey Gia. If I say I want to go to the seminar, do you think your brother will agree?”
“You know well from being with my brother that Dylan Eve is a perfectionist. So if there’s even a slight disruption in the plan, he’ll throw a fit.”
Gia sighed deeply as she spoke.
Lola’s face darkened even more, knowing her brother’s personality all too well.
Moreover, the wedding shoot was a difficult schedule to book, and they had finally managed to secure it.
“Then it seems like it’ll be tough this time?”
To lift Lola’s spirits, Gia smiled brightly and encouraged her.
“Lola, I’m on your side. I don’t know if it’ll work out, but why not try talking to your brother?”
“I’m not as charming as you.”
Seeing Lola lacking confidence, Gia chuckled softly.
“It’s a win-win situation. You should at least give it a try, right?”
“Should I?”
“You never know. Your brother might agree. So whether it works out or not, just talk to him nicely.”
Of course, the chances of Dylan Eve agreeing were extremely slim, as difficult as reaching for the stars.
But Gia didn’t show those thoughts on her face.
“Okay.”
And the two of them began to eat with their chopsticks.
After finishing lunch, Lola hesitated several times before sending a text to Dylan.
[Dear, are you coming home early tonight?]
It didn’t take long for a reply to come back.
-Why?
[I’ll make you something delicious for dinner.]
-Then I guess I should come home early?
‘So is he saying he will come home early or not?’
The answer was ambiguous.
Lola began to type again, her fingers moving quickly.
[If you want to eat something delicious, it would be better to do that, right?]
After sending the message and waiting for a reply,
-I got it.
And the reply came with a sad face emoticon that seemed completely out of character for him.
Lola tilted her head in confusion.
He was being told to come home early for a delicious meal, so why did he send a sad emoticon?
She couldn’t understand.
At times like this, she often wished she could peek into the depths of this man’s mind, which was so deep that it was impossible to fathom.
It was also hard to adjust to the fact that he sent an emoticon instead of a text, and this kind of emoticon didn’t match his image at all, so even though it wasn’t a situation to laugh, Lola couldn’t help but chuckle.
Lola returned to the penthouse right after work, changed into comfortable clothes, and tied on an apron, bustling around in the kitchen.
The sound of the knife chopping vegetables was quite cheerful.
Now that she had done this a few times, Lola’s movements were both familiar and quick. However, seeming a bit anxious, she frequently glanced at the watch on her wrist while slicing the vegetables.
When she successfully prepared a dish that Dylan would enjoy, a satisfied smile would spread across her face.
If she were to directly tell him she was going to a seminar, he would likely refuse outright. And she couldn’t charm him like Gia could.
After much thought and deliberation, she decided to showcase her best cooking skills, but she had no idea how it would turn out.
‘How should I bring it up?’
As she set the table, Lola pondered carefully.
Just then, she heard the front door open and ran to the entrance with joy.
“Dear, you’re back?”
Seeing her shyly greeting him in an apron adorned with a cute teddy bear, Dylan was momentarily at a loss for words.
Her face was so expressive that it was clear something was up.
What could it be this time?
After a moment of thought, Dylan finally responded.
