But this time, she decided to muster her courage.
“The man you like, he’s my husband.”
Nina’s eyes twisted in disbelief.
She had known this all along, had seen it clearly just moments ago, and could easily guess who had given the bouquet in the woman’s hand.
Yet, accepting this reality was extremely difficult for Nina.
For some reason, she felt a dirty sensation that Nia had deceived her.
“I’m sorry for not telling you in advance.”
Lola offered a heartfelt apology, but Nina’s mood didn’t improve. In fact, it seemed to worsen.
“Even so, you don’t have to hate me this much, do you?”
Lola felt a bit wronged.
No matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t understand what she had done wrong.
There had been reasons for not being able to openly declare her relationship with Dylan Eve.
But she didn’t want to explain those reasons in detail.
“Was it fun to play with someone who knows nothing?”
However, Nina felt hurt in her own way, and she resented Nia.
“It would have been better if you had told me earlier. I’m really disappointed in you.”
“I’m truly sorry. I never intended to deceive you from the start. I just couldn’t say it.”
“Forget it.”
As if she didn’t want to hear any more of Lola’s words, Nina abruptly turned and left, creating a cold breeze as she walked away.
Lola didn’t try to stop her any longer.
It would take time for Nina to accept this situation.
Even though the knot between them wasn’t completely untangled, Lola felt a slight sense of relief.
Until now, she had been so concerned about what others thought that there were many times she couldn’t say what she wanted to say.
But today, it seemed she was able to gather her courage thanks to Dylan Eve.
She felt energized from the warm comfort she had received from him.

‘Does this man not eat?’
Seeing Frank still pacing in front of the emergency room, Lola abruptly stopped in her tracks.
He seemed stubborn and persistent, making her want to sigh.
He should have understood by now, given how much he had been told.
He was annoyingly tenacious.
As if sensing her presence, Frank also stopped and looked at Lola with a desperate gaze. His lips parted for a moment as if he had something to say, but then he quickly closed them again.
Lola put her hands in her coat pockets and approached him.
“Doctor, there’s no point in staying here any longer.”
She hadn’t expected a kind response, but hearing his retort seemed to irritate Frank, making his eyes narrow sharply.
He then grumbled.
“What have I done? I haven’t bothered the Dr. at all.”
“Loitering in front of the emergency room doesn’t look good.”
“Just ignore me and pretend you didn’t see me. It’s my business.”
Frank’s retort was blunt and curt.
Lola shrugged lightly.
‘What’s the point of talking to someone like this?’
Feeling that communication was futile, Lola resigned herself and turned her body towards the emergency room, but then turned back and casually said,
“Doctor, I spoke with that patient.”
In an instant, Frank’s eyes flashed coldly. Lola paused for a moment.
“What… if you’re not interested, then never mind.”
Frank stepped forward and urgently grabbed Lola’s arm.
“If I was rude earlier, I’m sorry. Please forgive me.”
What was with this sudden change?
Seeing the man switch his attitude so quickly almost made Lola want to laugh, but she managed to hold it in.
“I would appreciate it if you could tell me in detail what the suspect said.”
“He was panicking and very scared.”
It seemed that wasn’t the answer Frank had wanted, as he looked slightly disappointed.
“Well, he should have followed the law then.”
Frank let out a scoff.
So, he was trying to avoid responsibility like that?
Not a chance.
“It seems the patient didn’t realize how serious the situation was. He was at a loss for what to do. He probably thought dying would be an easy and simple way to end it.”
“How foolish and cowardly.”
Frank exhaled in disbelief.
“That’s true. Dying isn’t a solution to the problem. But from the patient’s perspective, it might have seemed like the only option. Not everyone is as brave as you when faced with problems. The patient is the same. I think he’ll need time to accept this situation.”
“How much time?”
“He’s passed the critical point, so he’ll be moved to a general ward in a couple of days. By then, visits will be allowed.”
Frank blinked in disbelief, as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
“Is that really true? Dr..”
Lola nodded in response to his questioning gaze.
“Thank you. I’ve been rude for a while.”
Having received a positive answer, Frank finally released Lola’s arm and left the emergency room with a lightened heart.
Behind him, Lola shook her head gently, as if to say he was hopeless.
On the other hand, she felt relieved.
It seemed the suspect would soon be discharged.
