It had been a long, exhausting day, as if they had fought a war.
Feeling down, Lola stood outside, where the autumn rain was drizzling down.
‘I should have brought an umbrella.’
Forgetting to bring an umbrella was a mistake.
Letting out a soft sigh, Lola stood by the entrance, waiting for the rain to stop. Just then, someone approached her and opened an umbrella.
Turning her head, she saw a handsome profile.
It was Dylan.
Lola’s eyes widened in surprise.
‘When did this busy person come without saying anything?’
“Oh, dear.”
“Isn’t it nice?”
It was a simple statement, but Lola didn’t look confused like before and answered positively.
“Yes. It’s really nice.”
“Are you touched?”
“Yes. I feel like crying because you came.”
It wasn’t an exaggeration.
A lot had happened today.
Nina hadn’t been reachable at all, Amaya had caused a ruckus, and with so many emergency calls, Lola hadn’t had a moment to catch her breath.
So she wanted to go home early today and rest, but the rain had trapped her.
However, seeing Dylan come to pick her up made Lola feel a heartwarming sense of comfort.
“Then you should give me a reward later.”
“Of course, I will.”
Dylan smiled.
“Do you know what I want?”
“I’ll give you anything you want.”
“I’ll be looking forward to it.”
The rain continued to pour down relentlessly. Dylan moved closer and linked his arm with Lola’s.
“Let’s go.”
“Excuse me?”
“We can’t just stand here forever. I think time is precious.”
“Oh, okay.”
Dylan held the umbrella over Lola’s head to keep her clothes from getting wet. The raindrops fell on the umbrella with a soft patter.
As he sheltered her with the umbrella, Dylan’s clothes were getting soaked with rainwater. However, he didn’t care and held onto Lola’s arm tightly to prevent her from slipping as they walked through the rain.
“Dear, hurry and take off your clothes.”
As Dylan got into the driver’s seat, Lola, realizing he had been caught in the rain, spoke urgently.
“Here?”
She was worried that he might catch a cold if he stayed in his wet clothes, which is why she told him to take them off.
However, seeing the mischievous glint in his eyes, Lola felt that the conversation was taking a strange turn.
“Oh, your clothes are wet. You could catch a cold.”
Lola pointed at his suit jacket, drenched from the rain.
“Your pants are wet too.”
“……”
For a moment, Lola was at a loss for words and let out a big sigh, shaking her head. Dylan threw his jacket onto the back seat and teased her.
“I didn’t say I was going to take off my pants. You thought something weird again, didn’t you?”
“Dylan seems to enjoy teasing me, huh?”
“Yeah!”
His candid admission left Lola speechless again, and she unconsciously pouted her lips. Dylan’s mouth curled up slightly.
Her pouting expression looked incredibly cute to him.
“But how did you get here? You don’t seem busy today?”
Seeing Lola, who was completely dry, Dylan thought he was glad he came to the hospital.
The sky had been overcast with something since morning.
It was a cloudy day that looked like it would rain.
Sure enough, light autumn rain had started to fall in the late afternoon.
In the past, whether it rained or not had nothing to do with him, but now it was different, and he often found himself worrying about her.
‘Lola probably didn’t bring an umbrella either.’
Thinking that, he couldn’t concentrate on his work.
He needed to review the investigation records and submitted evidence he had received from the investigative agency, but he could no longer sit still and stood up.
She wasn’t a child, and even if it rained, she would surely know how to get home safely, but even while he chuckled at his excessive worry, he couldn’t help but feel anxious.
But…….
Seeing Lola standing in front of the hospital entrance, trapped in the relentless downpour, Dylan thought he might have regretted not coming to pick her up.
What would have happened if he hadn’t come for her?
Seeing Lola’s surprised and touched expression upon seeing him, Dylan felt a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
He really thought he had made the right decision in coming.
“How did I come? I came because I missed you. Buckle your seatbelt well.”
After saying that calmly, Dylan started the car with a much more relaxed mind.
