Arrogant Husband and Timid Wife – Chapter 159

Hot night

“Lola, what’s ‘hot night’?”

“Lola, what’s ‘hot night’?”

Hot night.

As soon as she heard that word, a strange image flashed in her mind, and Lola felt her face heat up without realizing it.

But why is this man suddenly saying something so odd while we’re eating?

Flustered, Lola lowered her head and took a sip of water before asking back.

“‘Hot night’?”

“Yeah.”

“Why do you ask?”

“Someone told me to send them ‘hot night,’ but I didn’t really know what it meant.”

Is he really asking because he doesn’t know?

Or is he just messing with me?

He sometimes joked around as if he were serious, so Lola couldn’t tell the difference.

So.

“Um, are you really asking because you don’t know?”

She asked, half hoping he was joking, but Dylan shook his head as if he genuinely didn’t know.

“As you know, my job is a prosecutor, so I don’t know a lot of new slang.”

It didn’t make sense that he didn’t know what ‘hot night’ meant.

‘But ‘hot night’ isn’t slang; it’s an abbreviation.’

On one hand, Lola felt relieved that he didn’t know, and her face turned a bit redder.

“You don’t have to know, Dear.”

Even as she spoke, Lola didn’t look at him and quietly continued to eat.

“I’m just curious.”

“Please eat first.”

“Lola.”

“Yes?”

He seemed to be particularly talkative today.

He was usually quiet during meals.

“Gia said you gave me a gift that would drive me crazy. What is it?”

At Dylan’s words, Lola involuntarily coughed.

Cough, cough!

Lola hurriedly drank some water, inwardly blaming Gia.

‘That sly girl.’

Dylan, worried, asked, “Are you okay?”

Lola raised her hand to show she was fine. One of Dylan’s eyebrows shot up.

“But you’re really suspicious. What’s so hard to talk about that you’re trying to hide it? Is it something difficult to say?”

Dylan seemed genuinely confused. Lola squeezed her eyes shut and blushed as she replied.

“It’s no use even if you know, dear. It’s just that, um, it’s the day I’m under a spell, so I can’t do anything.”

A moment of silence passed between the two.

The first to break the silence was Dylan.

He interpreted Lola’s words differently and sighed as he apologized.

“I’m sorry.”

For what?

Lola looked at him with a puzzled expression.

“I feel bad for eating without knowing how tired and hard it must have been for you to set the table. I feel like I’m being rude, so I’ll do the dishes. You don’t have to lift a finger.”

Lola smiled and picked up some side dishes to put in Dylan’s bowl.

“It’ll taste bad if it gets cold. Hurry and eat.”

A little while later, Dylan really stood in front of the sink to wash the dishes as promised. Lola didn’t go upstairs right away but watched him wash the dishes.

“I told you to go up and rest first.”

“I’m waiting for you to go up together.”

“You really don’t listen.”

When Dylan scolded her softly, Lola smiled brightly.

“Has the suspect not woken up yet?”

“No.”

“Be extremely careful not to get hurt.”

When Dylan warned her again, Lola nodded vigorously, her face still slightly flushed.

“How’s the professor doing?”

“He hasn’t had a panic attack recently.”

“Really? Then I should find a chance to tell the professor about us. I think he’ll be happy to know.”

Finally, when Dylan finished washing the dishes, Lola hugged his waist tightly to show her gratitude.

“Thank you for your hard work, Dylan.”

“Don’t just say it; if you’re grateful, you should give me a reward.”

“Excuse me?”

When Lola looked puzzled, Dylan bent slightly at the waist and said, “A kiss.”

Lola, feeling incredulous but unable to resist, gave him a light peck on the lips.

However, Dylan wasn’t easily satisfied. He wrapped his hands around her face and began to kiss her passionately.

Smack!

With a soft, sensual sound.

Autumn had come swiftly, and the air was quite chilly in the mornings and evenings.

Moreover, the sky was overcast, as if it were about to rain.

Just then, Lola rushed over to Xavier, who was standing in the hallway in a patient gown without anything on top, and asked worriedly.

“Professor, why are you out here in this cold weather?”

“I feel suffocated.”

Xavier’s face looked dark as he said that.

‘He seemed fine until yesterday.’

Wondering if something had happened, Lola cautiously asked, “Is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?”

“I feel suffocated in my heart.”

“Can you tell me more about how you’re feeling right now?”

“…….”

For a moment, Xavier clamped his mouth shut.

He was a typical avoidant type.

That was the most challenging part of the treatment.

Lola furrowed her brows, seeming to think, then casually said, “It’s because of Nina, isn’t it?”

“I can’t even contact her to know where she is.”
