‘What is this all about?’
Frank went to see Lola?
Why?
He felt a sense of unease.
Something unusual was definitely happening that he wasn’t aware of.
Dylan felt like cursing.
Lola was still asleep. After glancing down at her peaceful face, he took out his phone and slowly got up. Then he walked to the terrace and, with a nervous gesture, pressed the shortcut for someone’s number hard.
After a few rings, the call connected, and a voice that seemed to have been waiting for this opportunity came through, questioning him directly.
– Big brother, did you call Hamza and say something?
Caught off guard by the vague question, Dylan couldn’t help but feel puzzled. Nevertheless, he asked calmly.
“Why? What did Hamza say?”
– I just wish you would be honest.
“So what do you mean?”
As Dylan frowned at Gia’s incomprehensible words, she continued.
– Didn’t you tell Hamza that I went to a cocktail bar? Of course, I don’t want to think of you as that petty and mean-spirited.
Dylan, feeling provoked by Gia’s insinuation, retorted.
“If you were that worried, you shouldn’t have gone to such places.”
– So, is it true that you told Hamza? Why? Do you want to ruin your younger sister’s happy life?
“Is Hamza getting a divorce?”
– You’re being petty, and now you’re worried about me?
Dylan was bombarded with insults from the other end, but instead of making excuses, he scolded Gia.
“Gia Eve, then you tell me. Was it right for a mother of a child to go to a cocktail bar dressed in a way that you don’t even know if you’re wearing clothes or not?”
– Just because I’m a mother doesn’t mean I can’t go to such places. What kind of outdated thinking is that?
“From now on, if you want to go to such places, go with Hamza. Don’t take Lola with you!”
– Oh my! Dylan, you’re really funny. Why can you go to such places, but Lola can’t? What kind of double standard is that?
On the other end, Gia seemed incredulous, exhaling sharply.
“I just don’t like it.”
– Ugh… How can a person be so selfish and mean?
Gia complained, shuddering. Yet, Dylan maintained a poker face and calmly asked.
“Have you finished cursing yet?”
– No. I haven’t even started.
“Then hurry up and finish!”
However, when Dylan said that, Gia on the other end could no longer hurl insults.
– Why did you call at this hour?
Her voice had softened somewhat, and a faint smile appeared on Dylan’s lips for a moment before it quickly vanished. He returned to a serious expression and, in an interrogative tone, sharply asked.
“Did Frank visit your hospital today?”
“Did Frank visit your hospital today?”
The inspector’s characteristic stiff tone still seemed hard to get used to, and a brief silence flowed through the receiver.
Unable to endure the silence any longer, Dylan urged for a response.
“Gia Eve, I’m asking you.”
– Yes. But that guy is really funny. They say birds of a feather flock together, and I can’t believe how much he acts just like you. His personality seems really difficult too…
Dylan cut off Gia’s words, which seemed to be getting longer.
“Did Frank meet Lola separately?”
– Yes.
“What for?”
– I don’t know that either.
“Got it.”
Just as Dylan was about to hang up, he suddenly seemed to remember something and casually asked.
“Does Lola have any trauma?”
– Trauma? Lola?
“I was just wondering if you knew anything?”
– No, that’s the first I’ve heard of it. I don’t know.
The two had been friends for over ten years. So, Dylan thought Gia might know a bit more about Lola, but the response he received was disappointingly lacking.
Then Dylan spoke sarcastically.
“Are you really friends? How can you not know something like that about your friend?”
– Do you spill everything to your friends?
Dylan was at a loss for words since Gia’s rebuttal wasn’t wrong, and he stammered as he tried to hang up the phone.

– But…
Because Gia seemed to have something more to say, Dylan couldn’t end the call.
– I really don’t know what’s so good about you that I’m spilling everything like this.
“I really appreciate it. If you want something, just tell me. I’ll do it for you.”
– Just be nice to Lola!
If someone who didn’t know them overheard, they would think I was looking down on Lola.
Feeling a bit wronged by Gia’s words, Dylan protested.
“Anyone would think I’m bullying Lola.”
– What I mean is to treat Lola gently and kindly.
“What does Lola say?”
– Even if she feels wronged, she doesn’t talk about trivial things.
Gia let out a small sigh.
“Got it. Let’s end the call here.”
After finishing the call with Gia, Dylan dug at his ear.
After listening to Gia’s loud voice for a while, his ear hurt and felt numb.
