Alpha’s Betrayal – Chapter 67

New Luna fled

She comprehended his contrition. Her father similarly lamented her birth, much as Jason regretted selecting her, having her endorse the contract, and having her as his partner.

My father’s observations seem to be accurate. I was born under an unfortunate star, affecting everyone in my vicinity as well. “You did not desire a partner, yet you have me, and now I am merely a liability,” Talia ceased her movement and withdrew her hand from his chest. Jason observed a little smile on her lips.

“You desire my departure, do you not?” She inquired.  Talia, as customary, received no reply or response from Jason. She merely nodded while inhaling deeply and distancing herself from him.

“It is acceptable.”  Nullify the marriage, disclose my authentic name to others, and deem it retribution for your cousin’s assassination. I will go from your group immediately. I will disregard whatever that transpired between us, but you must assure me that you will uphold your commitment.

Talia reiterated her need for a pledge, stating, “You will not assassinate my family.” Once more, she received no response, merely his emerald eyes gazing at her. Should she construe it as an affirmative response? He would undoubtedly locate another surrogate.

All were observing their Alpha and Luna engaged in conversation instead of dancing, which was quite unusual. Lucas was concerned, suspecting that something was off with his brother. He discerned it from the expression on his face.

He then noticed Talia disembarking from the platform with a slight bow to Jason. What was the reason for her descent? What was the reason behind his brother’s immobile stance?

Lucas observed Talia as she walked past and then approached the door alone. He was astonished to observe tears in her eyes, which she had concealed from everyone’s observation. What was her destination? Upon Talia’s departure from the pack house’s front entrance, all attention was directed towards Jason. What was occurring? All individuals had ceased dancing. Lucas sprinted to his brother.

“To what destination is she proceeding, Jason?” Lucas conversed in subdued tones to avoid detection by others, however it was evident to all that the Luna had exited the ceremony.

“Halt her, Jason.”  “She is departing,” Lucas continued to urge Jason, but Talia had already left. He did not impede her.

“Halt her, Jason.”  “She is departing,” Lucas continued to urge Jason, yet Talia was vanished. He did not impede her.

Following Luna’s sudden exit, the hall, once filled with excitement and merriment, became utterly silent. What occurred?

The young woman exited the pack house without a backward glance, leaving behind a multitude of gossipers to disseminate rumours.

The Sothis Star Pack’s sorrow intensified as they gazed at Jason, who stood there alone, devoid of Talia. Why had he not halted the Luna? He seemed to have lost something in her absence. His eyes remained fixed on the door, suggesting that she had not left alone, but had carried with her the Alpha’s heart and soul. Jackson’s ears detected the muttering of the other guests.

What is the current situation?”

“Why has the pack’s new Luna fled from her own marking ceremony?”

I harboured a latent sense that anything was amiss. What was the purpose of feigning if there was no matrimony?”

“It appears that Alpha Jason never intended to acquire a Luna.”

Several other guests, known for their propensity to talk, slander, and disseminate rumours, commenced to speak indiscreetly. – Some of them were individuals who intended to attack the Sothis Star Pack in the near future.

They exhibited a look of satisfaction now that Jason’s wife had departed. If he had designated and acknowledged the Luna as a mate, they would have forfeited everything to the twin brothers.

Lucas had previously directed a murderous gaze at them. He intended to destroy them, however everyone is now safe. He has yet to locate his mate.

Their joyful visage drained of colour, and they perspired abundantly upon realising that Beta Leo and Gamma David had witnessed their deeds and overheard their remarks. What were those individuals expressing regarding their Alpha? If appearances could be lethal, they would have perished long ago!

The usual consequences and dread of their errors were evident for a fleeting moment as they bit their lips and averted their eyes. The greater a person’s notoriety and dignity, the more trivial their behaviours tended to be.

All inquisitive and astonished gazes were directed at the green-eyed Alpha, who resembled a wounded creature brimming with intense fury. His attention had consistently been directed towards the door through which Talia had departed. Lamba had exhausted his patience, and Jason was required to respond promptly.

“What is the current situation, Alpha?”  What prompted Luna to abruptly depart from the ceremony and the pack house? One of the elders advanced to pose a question.

“Jessica!”  Lena! Extract that rodent from its burrow!”

Jason shouted loudly, startling the elder who had approached to enquire of his Alpha. The aged wolf promptly retreated from Jason, as did the other members of the pack encircling him.

Everyone desired the return of their fugitive Luna, yet no one had the audacity to enquire. What transpired? Whom had the Alpha designated as a rat?

Other elders noted Jackson’s strange silence as he watched Luna’s departure. How could that aged wolf maintain his composure? Had he not been evading all unfavourable events? Why did he not protest when Talia deserted his grandson?
