Alpha’s Betrayal – Chapter 48

What is occurring here?

She had gnawed her fingernails while seated on the bed awaiting his return. It was midnight, yet sleep seemed as far as if it were noon.

Her complete focus was directed exclusively at the door, through which the irritable Alpha would enter to express his fury onto her. Her peace of mind had taken flight, eluding her grip at every attempt to reclaim it.

Talia’s fear escalated throughout the night, although Jason had not re-entered the bedroom, suggesting he would return with turmoil.

She recognised her wrongdoing in throwing a shampoo bottle at him and felt remorseful. Rather than experiencing fear and concern, she had decided to apologise to him; however, her face flushed crimson upon realising he had observed her unclothed.

As she rolled on the bed, obscuring her face with her hands, she emitted an exasperated yet therapeutic sigh. She recognised that she would be unable to meet his gaze without remembering her complete vulnerability before him. In reality, she felt more embarrassment than fear.

She had ultimately succeeded in relaxing her body and reclined on the bed, gazing at the ceiling while she awaited Jason.

After waiting a another hour without his return, she grew apprehensive. Did she throw the shampoo bottle with such force that he experienced significant pain requiring hospitalisation? No, that would not be faster than any other wolf.

Secondly, a shampoo bottle would merely cause him discomfort akin to an ant sting. Rising from bed, she proceeded to the door, resolute in her quest to ascertain the reason for his absence from their chamber.

She was shocked to discover the lights illuminated throughout the pack house as she down the stairs. What transpired? What accounted for the numerous individuals being awake late at night? Silence enveloped her in the chamber, but the atmosphere transformed immediately upon her entrance into the corridor. The primary entrance of the pack house was ajar, nevertheless Jessica and Leena were observed traversing the corridor.

“Jessica, what is occurring here?”  Is there an issue? Talia covered her arms with her hands, apprehensive about appearing before others in her sleeveless top and short shorts, which she usually wore in her pack, however she was uncertain about the nocturnal attire of these individuals.

Fortunately, she did not appear unusual as Lena was adorned in more revealing attire than herself. Jessica was clad in a knee-length nightgown that enveloped her prominent abdomen.

“Talia, we presumed you were asleep,” Jessica remarked as she neared the young woman observing a pair of males dash out of the pack house.

I was unable to fall asleep. I awaited the Alpha’s return, but he did not come back, prompting me to descend and investigate his whereabouts. What is occurring precisely?”

“Vampires have been observed near our territory.”  A notification has been forwarded to the entire group. Upon discovering the existence of vampires, Leo, Caleb, and the Alphas commenced their investigation. We awoke beside our companions. Due to your exhaustion, we refrained from rousing you.

Talia was astonished upon discovering the existence of vampires. Fortunately, the Sardinia Moon pack had never been assaulted by a vampire, nor had she ever come across one. The pack was in considerable turmoil because to the gravity of the situation.

The Beta and Gamma girls had been anticipating the return of their partners. They did not seem apprehensive, but rather confident in their safe return. It conveyed a strong sense that, despite the threat posed by vampires, the pack members were ready to confront them at any moment. Lena desired to accompany David, but she remained at the pack house in case Jessica required her assistance.

It is imprudent to propose that anyone return to slumber, as the unforeseen news had deprived everyone of rest until the issue was rectified. Talia studied her watch, realising it was already 2 a.m.

“Is this the inaugural vampire assault of the Sothis Star Pack?” Talia occupied the sofa opposite the two rated women.

“Previously, there were multiple vampire assaults on the pack, but that was prior to our covenant with the Vampire King,” Jessica commenced her explanation.

“Hold on a moment!”  Are you referring to the Vampire King Henry?”

“Yes,” the Beta female responded, seeing her Luna’s astonished expression, which elicited a little smile from her. The young female lacked understanding of the power and prowess of the Sothis Star Pack and the dual Alphas.

“The Alphas established a peace accord with the Vampire King two years prior to halt their animosity and estrangement, as the carnage was untenable and neither faction wished to incur further casualties in combat.”

Nevertheless, it persisted after to the signing. There have been no vampire attacks in the past two years; however, the reason for the disregard of regulations on their part remains unknown,” Talia attentively absorbed all that Jessica elucidated.

She was incredulous upon learning that the Sothis Star Pack had forged an accord with the vampires. Competing with them was not advantageous for every Pack.

Vampires were notorious for exterminating tiny groups, such as the Sardinia Moon Pack, in a single night. Notwithstanding the peace treaty, a sighting of individuals near the border raised apprehension.

Talia, intrigued by the bond between the vampire and the pack, observed that Jessica and Lena were engaged in a mind-link with another individual. Consequently, she awaited with patience.

Lena was the first to address Talia, stating, “The problem is resolved,” which provided her with some relief. Vampires were exceedingly detrimental!
