Alpha’s Betrayal – Chapter 36

Their grandfather

The entrance of the elderly male was unexpected. He had been away visiting acquaintances in a different city. He was expected to be absent for three days, but returned upon receiving information from his informant of Jason’s selected Luna. Jackson has anticipated this day for two years.

The twin brothers suspected that his unanticipated arrival had a concealed objective. The elderly male’s actual scheme was revealed when he asked Talia to occupy his position beside Jason.

The brothers consistently occupied the designated places on the left and right sides of the expansive dining table. Jackson came about fifteen minutes prior to breakfast, surprising everyone. He prohibited everyone from leaving the table, with the exception of Jessica and Lena.

Jason lacked the opportunity to inform Talia regarding his grandfather or elucidate her potential introduction. Prior to her arrival, their grandfather had directed Jason and Lucas to mask their auras and odours. They were perplexed at the moment nevertheless acquiesced to his request, believing he intended to convey anything; however, they now recognised his true aim was to test Talia!

Their grandfather was delighted to meet the woman who would become part of his grandson’s life, however he wished to evaluate her suitability. He aimed to evaluate Luna’s capacity to identify her Alpha. Their stature, mass, comportment, and even ocular hues were indistinguishable.

Due to this, others could distinguish Lucas from Jason solely by their fragrances. Jackson had observed Talia. Having met Jason only the previous day, it would be challenging for the young woman to distinguish between them.

Jason abhorred his grandfather’s deceit, however it was anticipated following Opora’s betrayal. She was so captivated by their connection that, at times, she could not distinguish between Jason and Lucas. Despite her familiarity with Jason’s scent, she was unable to identify him.

Talia monitored both boys for a period, elevating everyone’s heart rate. The game would conclude if she positioned herself beside the incorrect Alpha. As she approached the dining table, Jason and Lucas’s muscles tensed. Where was she intending to sit? The grandfather had observed the young female’s composure. Talia extracted a chair and positioned herself adjacent to the Alpha, who was seated on the right side of the supper table.

All features were ashen; an utter hush prevailed; even the Grandfather was astonished. Talia lifted her gaze to meet Jason’s gentle green eyes for the first time.

“What prompted your recognition of me?” As Jason’s soft whisper reached Talia’s ears, her pulse accelerated. Their seats were in close proximity, and their faces were hardly a few inches apart.

“As you uncovered my presence behind the wall,” she elucidated.

Jason’s lips formed a subtle smile, reflecting Talia’s, however they promptly diverted their gaze. It was her inaugural experience observing his smile. The fleeting smile dissipated within moments, reverting the Alpha to his impassive demeanour.

“Outstanding!”  You identify Jason devoid of his fragrance and presence. My grandson has selected an ideal female partner! Jackson was elated. All breathed a sigh of relief, still astonished that Talia had identified Jason so swiftly without olfactory cues. Jason offered his grandfather a faint smile. However, he lacked the patience to engage in his subsequent game.

Talia was the daughter of Carter, a fact of which Jackson was well cognisant. It had generated considerable unrest among the elders prior to his arrival. Jackson was assigned to evaluate the female. Jason needed to demonstrate to the elders that the female he had picked as the Luna was competent to be his designated mate.

“I sincerely apologise for my trivial game, Luna,” Jackson expressed earnestly.

“There is no problem.”  Talia’s enchanting smile and her address of him as Grandfather had captivated the elderly man’s heart. Her assertions and intentions exhibited no indication of deceit. Jason was impressed by her confidence and the way she spoke.

“Luna Talia, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am delighted to convey that you have obtained the blessings of our pack’s elders. “We wholeheartedly accept you as our Luna,” the elderly guy declared, his voice brimming with pride as he looked at Jason and Talia.

Thank you. I am exceedingly pleased to have you as one of our elders. Talia expressed her wish that you will continue to guide and encourage us.

The young female had captivated Jason, Lucas, and all other pack members in the dining hall. She was unprepared to encounter the Alpha’s grandfather and had not been informed of his intelligence; however, she exhibited the superiority of her upbringing and demeanour. All enquiries had ceased. The pack had awaited her arrival for an extended period.

“Grandfather, I appreciate your blessings.”

“Let us commence our breakfast,” Jason urged that Jackson proceed first, as was customary.

“When do you intend to conduct your marking ceremony?” The elder male’s smile illuminated his eyes, yet his words instilled fear in Talia. What did he intend by a marking ceremony? She cast a brief look at Jason, who seemed rendered speechless.

“A marking ceremony will not occur, Grandpa.”  We have acknowledged one another as partners; that suffices. I do not desire the unnecessary marking. “I do not hold those things in high regard,” Jason remarked with a grimace. Talia observed an abrupt change in Jason’s feelings.
