Alpha’s Betrayal – Chapter 10

I must depart

“You will not flee, correct?”  Talia declared that it was no longer requisite to strike or elucidate anything to her, asserting that she would not leave you alone. Her mother had been thoroughly vanquished. A loud bang emanated from the main floor of the packhouse.

“Alpha Jason Graham,” Luna Mabel expressed her alarm upon discovering that the Alpha had forcibly entered the packhouse, resulting in the destruction of the main door. Escape was no longer feasible; members of the Sothis Star Pack had likely encircled them.

“Alpha Jason?” Talia reiterated the formidable Alpha’s name. She had not been informed of the rival pack’s name or the identity of the Alpha. However, she was aware that her brother had provoked the wrong man. She had never been allowed to participate in any meetings or ceremonies attended by other packs, hence she had never seen his visage. She had encountered numerous rumours regarding him, however. In other words, uttering his name was like to invoking the devil.

Suddenly, an unusual movement and disturbance arose from the main level, signifying that the altercation was still ongoing. Only after the bodies of all Sardinia Moon Pack members had been displayed to Alpha Jason.

“I must depart,” Luna Mabel stated, having resolved to stand by her partner, Alpha Carter.

Talia called out, “Wait for me, Mom,” as she endeavoured to pursue her mother, but the door to her room was forcefully closed. She was merely a second tardy.

“Mother, what are you engaged in?” She called after her mother.

“Do not attempt to emerge.”  Talia heard her mother hurriedly go after securing the door, stating, “You will remain in this room.” The illegitimate son of Luna had already tarnished their reputation, resulting in the pack’s destruction. He had killed an innocent woman. Luna Mabel despised having given birth to him and recognised that this conflict had been ignited by retribution.

She feared that in the blaze of vengeance, the Sothis Star Pack would inflict upon her daughters what her son had perpetrated against that female. She had already confined Lena to the bedroom and intended to protect both of them.

“Mother, please open the door!”  Mother! She continued to pound on the door, yet her mother did not return. She was apprehensive that this would be the final occasion she would see her mother alive. She refrained from allowing her eyes to moisten while searching for the key that was supposed to be beneath the drawer.

She examined each drawer sequentially, only to ascertain that the key was absent. Had her mother taken the key the previous day? That cannot be correct. If she had, there would be no means for her to exit this place.

The window in her room was diminutive, sufficient only for the ingress of fresh air, rendering escape through it unfeasible. She continued to search till she perceived the sound of a key in her door lock. Had her mother returned? Upon directing her attention to the door, she observed that her elder sister Lena had unlocked it for her.

Lena forcefully opened the door. It was their clandestine arrangement; no one was aware that she possessed the master key. She utilised it to flee her chamber prior to rescuing her sister.

Talia notified her sister that they needed to descend the stairs. She was apprehensive when the violence and shouting ceased. Had her parents already been killed? They accelerated as they descended the stairs, stopping near the living room. Her nostrils were inundated by the aroma of fresh blood.

She peered into the room, apprehensive of what she might discover. A corpse was there in the living room. It was Alpha Carter’s Gamma. They commenced the assassination of specific individuals. Her fearful gaze fixed upon her parents, who were alive but not for much longer.

“You are prohibited from entering,” Lena asserted, reminding her that her father remained in the room and would disapprove of her presence. He frequently evaded her gaze, and she was prohibited from entering or staying in any place he had occupied.

She was compelled to exercise self-control. She attempted to glance into the living room while concealing her body behind the wall. An unusual and enigmatic scent assailed her nostrils, distinct from those of her pack members. What is the origin of this odour? She was unable to disregard it. Her father was incensed, and her elder brother, Tony, was vociferously admonishing someone.

Tony, the eldest offspring of the family, was poised to assume Alpha Carter’s role in the imminent future. Upon casting her gaze to the opposite side of the room, she observed a man with broad shoulders reclined in a chair, exuding an aura of regal authority. Although she could not discern his visage, she was assured he was an Alpha. The lethal Alpha that had assaulted their pack and was the origin of that exquisite aroma.

She could not hear their talk or argument. However, she was convinced that her self-centred and foolish brother had intensified the problem. He had resolutely declined to acknowledge defeat or surrender, with her father, Alpha Carter, endorsing his stance. Her mother endeavoured to reason with her father, although his ego surpassed his height. Carter was ready to perish, but not in the presence of another Alpha.

“Eliminate all of them!” Alpha Jason’s deep and menacing voice echoed in Talia’s ears. She observed as his pack members advanced towards the surviving members of the Sardinia Moon Pack. She clinched her fists in dread, bracing herself for the impending brutality. The majority of her pack had already perished, and the surviving ones were unlikely to last for much longer. She required an escape, but what options were available to her? She was unable to prevent them.
