Jade laughed out loud, “That’s right… our Audrey is extraordinary!”
Then she added, “But you still haven’t explained how you know the top student?”
Moore Audrey sighed, “You could figure it out with your toes; I definitely met him in my family’s haunted house!”
Jade nodded, indeed, if there was anything admirable and boast-worthy about her close friend, it was her desire to inherit her father’s estate.
Thinking of this, Jade couldn’t help but tease, “Did Uncle Moore agree to let you inherit the family fortune? I haven’t seen you busy running over there lately?”
With this reminder, Moore Audrey suddenly realized, “Oh right! I just remembered something!”
Jade was startled, “What is it? You’re making such a fuss!”
Moore Audrey suddenly looked at her seriously, then showed a determined expression.
Jade was quite curious but didn’t ask further; Moore Audrey would tell her.
Sure enough, the next second, her close friend spoke, “I can inherit my dad’s estate soon!”
Jade stared blankly, “Oh…” You’ve said that many times already.
Then she thought to change the subject, just as she was about to speak, Moore Audrey pushed her.
“We’re at your house.”
Jade looked up and had to give up what she wanted to say, shouldering her bag as she got out of the car, reminding her, “I’m heading home first. Text me when you get there!”
Moore Audrey nodded, “Say hi to Uncle and Auntie for me~”
Jade nodded, waved goodbye, and Moore Audrey had the driver start the car.
By the time Moore Audrey got home, it was nearly nine-thirty in the evening. Although she hadn’t done anything mentally exhausting all day, the day’s events had still worn her out.
The girl pondered for a moment and decided to take a bath to relax.
After her bath, she drank a cup of hot milk. Just as she set the cup down, her phone suddenly rang.
She picked it up to see it was the top student Thompson Miguel, whom she had just mentioned a few minutes ago.
Moore Audrey paused for a few seconds, then answered the call.
Even though she was mentally prepared, seeing the fair and soft girl in front of her, Thompson Miguel couldn’t help but fidget with her fingers.
In her heart, she thought: Moore Audrey must be a little dumpling, looking soft and white, making one want to pinch and bite.
Although her mind was racing with thoughts, her face remained expressionless.
Moore Audrey looked at the person on the screen, took another sip of milk, and with a white ring around her mouth, asked, “What’s up?”
Thompson Miguel stared at the white ring around her lips for a moment, then asked, “Are you coming to see the cat tomorrow?”
Moore Audrey paused in delight while drinking her milk, looked up, her eyes sparkling, “Sure!”
Then she thought of something else, “Can I see it now?”
Thompson Miguel hesitated for a moment, then nodded, “Sure… wait a moment.”
Then the camera shook, suddenly going dark. Moore Audrey guessed she was covering the camera, and soon she heard footsteps, sounding like they were going downstairs.
Before long, the camera lit up again, and under the warm yellow light, the sleeping kitten melted Moore Audrey’s heart.
Unable to hold back, she murmured, “I want to pet it~ It’s so cute~”
Thompson Miguel moved her hand holding the phone, then lowered her gaze to the kitten in front of her, softly responding with a “mm.”
Her ears suddenly felt warm; Moore Audrey’s voice just now… sounded like a little dumpling…
Thompson Miguel was lost in thought, staring at the cat, when Moore Audrey’s sudden voice pulled her back, “Can you help me pet it~”
Thompson Miguel paused, expressionless, she replied with a “mm,” then raised her hand to stroke the cat. Perhaps it felt good, the kitten began to purr.
Moore Audrey laughed, “Ah ah ah~ So cute~”
Thompson Miguel was also caught off guard, and then she chuckled lightly. Just as she was about to speak, her mother’s voice suddenly came from the kitchen doorway, “You’re petting a cat late at night???”
Thompson Miguel was taken aback, unsure how to respond, instinctively pulling the phone back into her arms, calmly saying, “Why are you up?”
