Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 314

Backup plan

She observed Karis laughing at the girls’ difficulties but did not offer assistance. “I acquired one as well.” He chuckled as Minka tumbled, the oversized plushie landing directly on her. However, she observed that he was wearing a new jacket, a dark blue bomber-style garment with white sleeves and a black wolf imprinted on the front.

He gazed at Luke, who smiled and remarked, “As I mentioned, I may have exceeded the limits.”

She merely smiled as they seated themselves with the three children to examine all the items he had purchased. She received a text message from Margaret, featuring a selfie with the enormous teddy bear that Benzy had been transporting throughout the store.

He purchased it, and she was utilising it as a pillow, beaming in the selfie, which captioned, “It was intended for me, not our dog, lol.”

He was monitoring the approaching weather, with the weather channel’s radar shown on the screen in his Alpha’s office. The prospects for the Luna Ceremony scheduled for tomorrow appeared unfavourable. The National Weather Service predicted a snowfall of 17 inches. At this moment, it is frigid outside, yet the sun is blazing; nevertheless, it will be extinguished by 3 PM when the storm front arrives.

His entire unit was gathered around him, all observing the weather channel. “It’s not going to dissipate,” he groaned, having hoped it would subside, but to no avail.

Macky remarked, “It is a backup plan.”

“Indeed, let us proceed with that.” Luke affirmed, having devised a contingency plan for her Luna Ceremony. In the colder months, it was prudent to create a comprehensive contingency plan for every event held here in the pack throughout winter, in anticipation of such occurrences. A complete whiteout; nature was not consistently aligned with the inhabitants of her globe.

“Benzy, ensure the flowers arrive today without delay; there is no necessity for additional individuals to be confined within the package.”

“On it,” Benzy said, retrieving his phone to initiate the necessary contacts. They had multiple Norists collaborating to procure and arrange the requisite quantity of flowers for delivery. The quantity could constitute one or two full truckloads, contingent upon the method of storage and packing.

They were presumably already prepared and stowed for the day, given their substantial quantity, or he was optimistic about it. He believed the primary challenge would be establishing their setup. Each florist possessed a dedicated crew to ensure the arrangements they produced were properly established within the pack. It was not merely a drop-off; it entailed a comprehensive setup.

Floral arrangements adorned every table, large urns by the entrances were filled with flowers, and a whole floral arbour outside the ballroom required decoration and coverage with blooms. Petite urns of flowers adorned her path, not only outdoors but also along the pack-house, guiding her from the lift to the ballroom.

Medium-sized urns lined the ballroom walls adjacent to the towering windows as she traversed towards the exterior. The items positioned on the elevated platform, as well as those scattered outdoors to enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal for her.

Today necessitated numerous tasks rather than postponing them until tomorrow. He was aware that Benzy would facilitate the requisite arrangements and provide financial compensation, if needed, to ensure that the people scheduled for hire tomorrow would arrive today.

“Lanky, obtain the pack photograph to reach the human photographer and ensure their arrival today, or they will miss the opportunity.” He was arranging for their wedding to be photographed and featured in human newspapers. It would formally conclude her human existence and also bring joy to Nina and Matt, which is their desire.

Lanky nodded affirmatively and exited the room.

Matt and Nina arrived in the pack this morning. Although they enquired whether their wedding images will be featured in newspapers or magazines a week prior. They were evidently dissatisfied with Chris and his rapid wedding announcement. They had not observed him in the company of anyone else.

They were astonished when he not only declared his engagement. The accompanying statement indicated that he and Grace had been in a relationship for some years, were exceedingly content, and deeply in love. He expressed his happiness at marrying such a charming and sophisticated young woman. Whom he had known throughout his life. She was the daughter of one of his father’s best friends, and they had consistently been part of each other’s lives.

He was unaware of that, having departed to read the paper and grimace at it himself. Enquired of Macky on the chat Bella had with Chris, as he was reluctant to trouble her with his enquiries, and he was aware that Macky had been present. They had not yet engaged in a discussion about it; he had entirely dismissed the matter.

Bella, once the cherished lover of future Alpha Luke of the Red Moon Pack, finds her world shattered when she is banished from her pack. Her crime? Striking Luke’s newly discovered fated mate with claws unsheathed—a reflex her wolf, Tyler, cryptically defends with the words, “To protect the pup.” Stripped of her place in the pack and warned never to return, Bella complies, narrowly avoiding the rogue label since Luke has not yet ascended to full Alpha status. Heartbroken and resolute, she retreats to the human world, immersing herself in university life to complete her law degree. Bella carves out a new existence as a successful divorce attorney, far from the pack that cast her aside, the future Luna who despises her, and the secret she guards fiercely—her children, the legacy of a love she can never reclaim. Six years pass in self-imposed exile, but the past refuses to stay buried. When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Bound by the constraints of human law and society, Luke cannot simply take her by force—her prominence in the human world complicates any attempt to make her disappear. Yet, he is determined to claim what he believes is his by right. As their paths cross again, Bella is thrust into a storm of conflicting emotions. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
