Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 294

You and I

“Understood.” Macky approached me, Nora, expressing concerns for you, not Maya. You might consider disclosing your anxieties or your previous experiences with Maya to him. He can elucidate his desires to you directly. He is merely evading Maya to enhance your comfort, not due to any clandestine activities with her.

“You assert that, yet she occasionally vanishes, roaming for hours to unknown destinations.”

“I can assure you that it is not with Macky.” Macky occupies a significant role here; when he is not with you, he is either with me, Luke, or engaged in work. He is a busy individual, yet if you were to request his presence at any time, day or night, he would prioritise you and arrive promptly.

“At any specific moment?”

“Indeed,” Bella affirmed, “why not attempt it?”

“You will inform him as well now.”

“No, I shall not.” He is unaware of my association with you. I am meant to be with Darla and my mother organising my wedding; however, to be candid, Nora, it is all chaotic and stressful. Being here with you provides me an escape from it all. Do not disclose that information; I will receive numerous lectures, and Luke will enquire about the issue as well. He is quite clingy.

“Do you not desire to enter into matrimony?”

“That is not Nora.” I have resided in Los Angeles. for an extended period, independently. I am currently present and never solitary; that door,” she indicated the connecting door to Luke’s office, “leads directly to Luke’s office. My mother and his mother are excessively preoccupied with the planning; I occasionally require a moment of alone.

They do not really comprehend it. I may belong here, yet I am entirely unaccustomed to the incessant scrutiny of others.

“I feel somewhat suffocated.” Similar to how my mother treats me, correct?”

“Affirmative.” Bella nodded; it was exacerbated by the fact that whenever she went, she observed two guards patrolling in proximity. She believed Luke was unaware of her knowledge of their relationship, although she was not naive; he had provided constant security since her return home. The man was excessively paranoid, even inside their pack, fearing that someone would abduct her from him.

“Why not contact him via phone or text to ascertain the outcome?”

I am aware that he is currently engaged in a security meeting downstairs. The war room is located in the basement of the packhouse, shielded from prying eyes and human visitors, so ensuring its concealment.

She contemplated, “Perhaps I should postpone that until Maya returns.”

“Understood.” I will not communicate anything to him; you have my word on that.

“Thank you, I suppose I have trust issues.”

“I initially lacked trust in Luke upon my arrival, a sentiment that persisted for weeks; however, I have since come to recognise his affection for me, acknowledging that such realisations often require time.” Macky will provide you with ample time. However, if you wished to accelerate the tempo independently, he would permit you to do so. It is contingent upon your conditions, Nora, not his.

“What?”

“It is my impression that he will not initiate any action towards you unless prompted.” Although it may seem peculiar, he desires your comfort. This is his residence, and he feels at ease here. If you wish to elevate the situation, you should inform him. He is probably content to simply sit and hold hands until you initiate the next action.

“I assumed he merely…”

“No, the responsibility lies entirely with you.” To proceed to the subsequent stage,

Simply inform him. Bella chuckled, “Holding hands is enjoyable, but so is kissing.” She smiled at Nora, aware that Macky had passionately kissed her in L.A. “He seems somewhat old-fashioned, from what I observe.”

Nora nodded in agreement.

“Is this meeting we are scheduled to have?”

“There will be no meeting; we will simply spend time together and converse, as I noticed your discomfort.”

“Oh,”

“You wish to attend a film, we shall both abandon everyone,” she laughed.

“Certainly, I am not engaged in any other activities.”

Bella smiled directly at her, “You and I, Nora, are destined to create some mischief here.”

“I do not typically engage in mischief.” Raised with excessive strictness for that.

“Ah, you will discover that it is enjoyable.” “Let us proceed.” Bella rose to her feet. “We must abandon my security detail.”

“What are you?”

Bella laughed, “I have had a security detail since our return; Luke is excessively protective at this time.” She approached the window in her office and opened it.

“Come on,” she chuckled. “Let’s instigate some mischief.” She was aware that he was preoccupied in the battle room, as was his entire unit, and given her protection detail, he was unlikely to be monitoring her with the pack tether either.

Bella, once the cherished lover of future Alpha Luke of the Red Moon Pack, finds her world shattered when she is banished from her pack. Her crime? Striking Luke’s newly discovered fated mate with claws unsheathed—a reflex her wolf, Tyler, cryptically defends with the words, “To protect the pup.” Stripped of her place in the pack and warned never to return, Bella complies, narrowly avoiding the rogue label since Luke has not yet ascended to full Alpha status. Heartbroken and resolute, she retreats to the human world, immersing herself in university life to complete her law degree. Bella carves out a new existence as a successful divorce attorney, far from the pack that cast her aside, the future Luna who despises her, and the secret she guards fiercely—her children, the legacy of a love she can never reclaim. Six years pass in self-imposed exile, but the past refuses to stay buried. When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Bound by the constraints of human law and society, Luke cannot simply take her by force—her prominence in the human world complicates any attempt to make her disappear. Yet, he is determined to claim what he believes is his by right. As their paths cross again, Bella is thrust into a storm of conflicting emotions. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
