Bent down and kissed her temple before grasping his fork. “You are quite endearing, you know.”
She arched an eyebrow at me, then shrugged and resumed eating. He had not consumed food for the same duration as she had, observing her while she ate, chuckling occasionally when she struggled to fit more food in her mouth and appeared frustrated by it. She was likely not only feeding herself; Tyler was presumably famished as well, and they were also consuming sustenance for two.
Or so he believed. Observe her; she had triplets during her previous pregnancy and may likely experience another multiple delivery. Although his father claimed to have observed her son playing with his own. There may be only one present.
It was something he had always observed, even prior to her departure. During her absence, his father had always anticipated her return to the pack. The probable reason he never revoked her pack card or monitored her closely was that she was a pack member, and he believed she would eventually return home.
Additionally, he had always been fond of Bella. He now questioned whether he had perceived her as the Luna of the pack in that vision, as her son had been playing with his; he could only assume she had been present in that vision. Had he been aware of her true nature? What lies ahead for Luna?
He recognised that his father harboured numerous mysteries regarding his foresight, as did his mother; it may be ambiguous at times or as clear as crystal at others. Furthermore, he understood that attempting to accelerate events beyond their normal schedule could distort the man’s perception and alter the outcome.
His father had once informed him that observing something did not need taking action to attain it. Often, it was preferable to refrain from action, allowing events to unfold naturally, lest one inadvertently alter the outcome.
Luke arose and inspected the running bath. It was an expansive jetted spa bath designed for two individuals. They planned to indulge in the bath together that evening. Having already washed and prepared, she gazed at the tub and sighed, “Goddess, I could use a soak.” He grinned at her, turned on the water, and replied, “After we eat, then.” This elicited a smile from her in response.
Prevented it from accumulating. It was prepared and suitable for both of them to enter, and he returned to her, observing her chuckle and cover her mouth as she burped audibly. “Apologies.”
He grinned at her, saying, “I observe you are content and fulfilled.”
He observed Bella nodding in affirmation, stating, “It was so good.” He noticed her gaze shift to the untouched black forest cake on the table, her favourite. “I am uncertain if I can accommodate that,” she moaned, regarding it with a hint of regret.
“Possibly, at a later time.” Luke grinned at her. “The bath is prepared,” he said, extending his hand towards her. “Let us proceed to unwind for an hour or so.”
They accomplished precisely that. He entered the bath first, allowing her to recline against him. He smiled as she moaned quietly in the warm water, her head resting on his shoulder. He encircled her with his arms and relaxed, appreciating the tranquilly of their shared moment.
“I procured a gift for you,” he whispered gently moments later, having positioned the ring on the edge of the bath beneath an ornamental bar of soap after he had shut off the water.
“You need not have done that.” “I merely requested cake,” she responded, however he discerned the smirk in her tone.
“Which you could not accommodate in your stomach.” He grinned quietly, “consumed too much dinner.”
She remarked with a grin, “I had to feed Tyler as well, you know.” She consumes significantly more than I do.
“I understand, which is why I order an abundance of food.” He grinned at her as she gazed up at him.
He extended his right hand to get the ring he had concealed, while he gently kissed her. He grasped her left hand, plucked it from the water, and placed the ring onto her finger.
He withdrew his mouth from hers and uttered words he believed, as a wolf, he would never express: “Marry me?”
She blinked at him, somewhat astonished by his comments; they were already Marked and Mated, rendering a wedding unnecessary, as they were eternally connected in their world. She had not anticipated those statements.
He observed her as she turned to examine her left hand, extended her own hand, spread all her fingers, scrutinised it, and touched it with her right hand, stating, “It’s a rare green diamond.” Exquisite and singular, much like your essence. Emerald-hued, akin to your irises. I wish for all our children to inherit your eyes, Bella.
