Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 282

Our members?

“Tyler healed us,” she informed him. “When did you arrive?”

You were engaged in combat with the Alpha male when Maddis intervened and pulled him away from you, prompting your escape. We had to terminate your employment. Do you remember anything?”

“I am fairly certain we observed Maddis in his half-shift form.” She nodded, “I pose a danger even to our own pack.” She mumbled, “Did I inflict harm on any of our members?”

No. Your ailment probably preserved your life, Bella. At this moment, I am pleased that you possess it. “I genuinely do not know how I would have reacted if something catastrophic occurred to you,” he said, pulling her tightly against his chest. “I have never experienced such fear in my life,” he said as he embraced her.

She pivoted her head at the sound of approaching wolves, observing three of them, his pack in wolf form. They were approaching at a significantly reduced pace compared to him, undoubtedly already aware that he had located her. “You have all been out all night, have you not?””

“Certainly, we have.” He nodded. “Would you expect me to wait until dawn and leave you here?”

“No,” she replied, shaking her head. “I anticipated your arrival.” She gazed directly at him, having maintained her faith in his coming for her. “I never doubted it,” she informed him.

Observed him smile gently at her. “We ought to commence our return journey, as it is a considerable distance.”

“I am unable to shift at this moment,” she informed him while gazing upwards. Although it was early, she felt compelled to disclose this, aware that his entire unit would overhear her. “I am with the pup.”

“I am aware,” he stated softly. “Maddis acquired it the other day.”

“Why did you remain silent?” She enquired, somewhat astonished.

I was pleased to await your and Tyler’s discovery. To inform us. I did not intend to impregnate you; I merely sought to be with you and rekindle our connection. Additional babies can be postponed; we currently have three.

She slightly shook her head, however it was pleasant to receive such a remark from him, as she heard Tyler scoff, ‘Maddis desires a puppy.’

Bella was aware of this, and she also recognised that Tyler intended to provide him with one as well. One that he would witness developing in the womb, be present for its birth, observe its maturation, and experience all the moments they had missed with the triplets.

“What is my progress?” She inquired.”

Approximately 20 kilometres. “I would assert that monitoring you proved to be quite challenging.”

“I was disoriented.” She acknowledged, “I traversed one valley thrice in an attempt to return, retracing my own steps.”

He said, “We could only speculate as to why, ultimately concluding that anything that startled you, altered your course, or shifted your trajectory.”

Bella was unaware and had little recollection of her escape from peril. “How many individuals did I injure?”

“None of ours,” Luke informed her. “I will return to Maddis, and you, dear, will ride him back to our vehicle.”

She gazed directly at him. “I am not diminutive like the children, you understand.”

He smiled, stating, “Maddis is insistent, and his fur will provide warmth; he is robust and capable, Bella.” Allow him to proceed; he requires proximity to you and Tyler at this moment as much as I do.

She could merely nod, “Very well.” However, if he becomes fatigued, I will proceed on foot.

Heard him giggle before turning to Maddis; his wolf circled her, rubbed against her, then bowed before lying down to allow her to mount his back. Heard Tyler chortle in her mind as he rose, never anticipated they would ride on his Alpha.

“You are quite the sentimental softy,” Bella remarked to Maddis while scratching behind his ears as they departed.

Maddis exhibited no signs of fatigue or effort under her weight; he trotted along as if she were weightless.

They arrived in a clearing where she observed her father and brother standing by two cars, awaiting their arrival.

She observed her father glance between her and Maddis, then slightly shake his head while smiling. “That is an occurrence one does not witness daily,” he remarked with a chuckle.

She dismounted Maddis as he lowered himself to the ground for her convenience, caressed his face, and smiled at him, saying, “Thank you.”

Her father and brother embraced her firmly. “Are you well, my dear?” Her father inquired.”

“Affirmative.” She acknowledged with a nod.

“We need to install a lo-jack on you,” Brad jested playfully.

She stood gazing at him momentarily; it was likely a prudent notion. Her ailment was likely to require years for a cure. It is possible. Implement a more effective method for monitoring her location and facilitating her retrieval. She moaned slightly at the prospect of this occurring again. She wished to prevent its recurrence.

Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
