Against the Alpha’s Claim – Chapter 228

Christmas

“Indeed, Maddis, we love her.” He instructed his creature.

“She is neither your mother nor your sister, Luke.” Macky continued, shaking his head in evident dismay and disappointment, before turning and exiting the office. “Bloody fool,” Luke overheard him mutter as he departed, while Maddis remained fully attentive. “This will undoubtedly infuriate her.” He is not personally selecting a birthday gift for the woman he loves; who on earth would fail to do so?

He sensed Maddis’s rage intensifying within him: “You will not provoke our Mate.” He directed all his wrath towards him with a sneer. “She is currently content,” he exhaled.

They had generally been interacting positively.

His gaze shifted to Benzy, who only shook his head and shrugged, stating, “I wouldn’t mind going shopping.”

Acquire a gift for Margaret; I have only done so for Christmas, and this should be an expression of my affection without any specific occasion.

I believe, Benzy, that this pertains to her birthday. I mentioned that to her yesterday; she only shrugged and remarked, ‘cake would be good,’ if I remember accurately. She adores a fine black forest cake. I have already communicated with the pack cook; he will prepare one for her.

“What do you believe it pertains to?””

“I am uncertain,” his gaze shifted to the adjacent door that provided access to her office. She is currently present at that location. Despite the door being closed, she remained oblivious to the discourse that had recently occurred with Macky.

It is possible that the man had acquired something that he neither

Maddis possessed.

She had successfully had those allegations against him dismissed; he had overheard the unkind remarks Ben Billy had sent at her over the phone when she informed him of her desire for the charges to be formally withdrawn.

He was profoundly discontented with her decision and her presence alongside him. He enquired of Bella directly whether she was being compelled to abandon them. Did she see a threat? Was one compelled to remain within Cupper Corporation? Was Luke utilising the children to persuade her to stay? Was he employing his financial resources and legal counsel to intimidate her with the prospect of losing her children, pursuing full custody? Was she unable to leave the company premises?

The man had essentially probed her as if she were a witness on the stand, cross-examining her in an attempt to elicit a mistake. Luke had become increasingly irritated, however Bella had repeatedly gestured for him to restrain his remarks.

To prevent him from seizing that phone from her and obtaining a portion of that man himself.

Shed had not glanced at him; she was aware that he was becoming irritated by her line of questioning, either sensing his wrath or Tyler’s recognition of Maddis’s discontent. She was aware that he was employing his wolf-like hearing to eavesdrop on the opposite side of her conversation.

She did not exit the room or request him to leave when she answered the phone; she had been anticipating a return call from Ben, who had been occupied when she initially contacted him. He appeared indifferent to his presence; he was aware that she was nearing the conclusion of her human existence; it was merely a question of time.

The arrangement had been finalised before to Christmas, although Ben was not pleased with it. Luke and Maddis were pleased, as she informed Ben that the situation hinged on the fact that Luke had not physically harmed her, and she wished for the case against him to be dismissed for the sake of the children.

His gaze was fixed on her office door as he contemplated his next course of action. Bella was presently inside. He sensed that their connection, possibly including the children, persisted despite the absence of either mother at that moment.

Their relationship improved significantly, and she frequently smiled at him; she even began to invite him into their bed at night once the triplets were settled and asleep. At this moment, his preferred memory involved More Rewards.

this.

to be that gentle sigh of “Goddess, I truly missed

Recently, while she was positioned above him in their bed, she roused him and claimed him for herself, pushing him down beneath her. She ascended onto him, and the intensity of her arousal had him prepared for her by the time she settled on top, relishing the experience of being awakened in the night by her presence.

She had embraced him with a moan of pleasure and remained still for perhaps 15 to 20 seconds, her eyes closed and a grin gracing her face, seemingly revelling in the sensation of him firmly within her.

He smiled at the memory, having derived greater enjoyment from it, particularly knowing she found immense pleasure in it. He dismissed the thought before proceeding to engage with her in her office. The children were not with her; she indicated that they were with Halley in the amusement zone, simply socialising.

Bella, once the cherished lover of future Alpha Luke of the Red Moon Pack, finds her world shattered when she is banished from her pack. Her crime? Striking Luke’s newly discovered fated mate with claws unsheathed—a reflex her wolf, Tyler, cryptically defends with the words, “To protect the pup.” Stripped of her place in the pack and warned never to return, Bella complies, narrowly avoiding the rogue label since Luke has not yet ascended to full Alpha status. Heartbroken and resolute, she retreats to the human world, immersing herself in university life to complete her law degree. Bella carves out a new existence as a successful divorce attorney, far from the pack that cast her aside, the future Luna who despises her, and the secret she guards fiercely—her children, the legacy of a love she can never reclaim. Six years pass in self-imposed exile, but the past refuses to stay buried. When an official letter from the Red Moon Pack demands her return, Bella defiantly burns it, vowing never to step foot in Luke’s territory again. But Luke, now the reigning Alpha, is relentless. He will bring her back, no matter the cost. Bound by the constraints of human law and society, Luke cannot simply take her by force—her prominence in the human world complicates any attempt to make her disappear. Yet, he is determined to claim what he believes is his by right. As their paths cross again, Bella is thrust into a storm of conflicting emotions. Her wolf yearns for Luke, urging her to reclaim the bond they share, but Bella’s heart is torn. She despises the man who cast her out yet still feels the undeniable pull of their connection. To her, Luke’s motives are clear: he wants his heirs by his side, not her. She believes his wolf drives him to claim her, while the man himself sees her merely as the mother of his children, a convenient solution to his legacy. But is that the truth? Or does Luke harbor a deeper love for her that he has yet to admit—even to himself? In the battle between pride and fate, will Bella surrender to the mate bond or stand firm in her resolve to remain free? Only time will reveal whether their fractured past can heal, or if the scars will prove too deep to overcome.
