“You know this is Prada; can you afford to shop here?” Karen scoffed disdainfully.
“Whether I can afford it or not has nothing to do with you, Ms. Karen,” Jacob replied calmly.
“Bro, Karen is just worried you’ll embarrass yourself!”
“Why are you, a delivery guy, pretending to be rich and deceiving young girls? Is that interesting??”
Rick stepped forward, putting on a pose as if he was about to expose Jacob’s hypocritical facade.
Through the conversation among the three, the sales assistant, who was eavesdropping, began to piece together their relationships.
So they were a divorced couple who had met again, but both had new partners.
But what’s with the delivery guy angle?
This guy had a bit of a small boss vibe; he didn’t look like a delivery worker at all.
The sales assistant thought to herself.
At that moment, Rick turned to Layla and said, “Dear, don’t be fooled by him; he’s just a delivery guy who can’t afford to buy you anything here.”
As he spoke, he subtly rolled up his shirt sleeves, revealing a Vacheron Constantin watch on his wrist. This watch was from the Overseas series, although it was the cheapest series, it still retailed for over a twenty thousand.
However, Rick bought it second-hand for over ten thousand, and it was one of his proudest show-off items.
The other two items were a BMW 525 parked downstairs at the company and a Hermès handbag that he wished to flaunt in front of everyone as soon as he entered the Prada store.
“Thanks for the reminder, but what kind of boyfriend I choose seems to have nothing to do with you.”
“Even if he’s a delivery guy, I’d still be happy sitting on the back of his electric bike, feeling the wind.”
Karen’s attitude had already made Layla feel quite displeased, and now with Rick jumping in to point fingers, Layla simply pretended to be Jacob’s girlfriend and shot back.
“Boyfriend???”
Karen keenly caught the key information in Layla’s words. Her pupils suddenly widened, and disbelief was written all over her face.
Although she hadn’t been home much before the one-month cooling-off period, based on her understanding of Jacob, it seemed unlikely that he would start a new relationship so quickly, especially with someone younger and more beautiful than her.
Beside her, Rick was equally bewildered. He had thought Jacob was still in the process of deceiving the young girl, but he didn’t expect that he had already won her over.
Looking at Layla’s tall and hot figure, he couldn’t help but complain inwardly: Such a good cabbage has been pushed by a pig! Damn, I want to be that pig too! Rick was instantly filled with jealousy and envy.
He silently calculated how to get a contact number; this beauty was clearly easy to fool, not even minding a delivery guy, so as the market director of Nation Light Advertising, it would be a piece of cake for him! “Jacob, you really are something, just divorced and already looking for a woman!”
If Jacob had only found someone less attractive than himself, Karen might not have felt too emotional about it; instead, she would secretly feel proud: See, after leaving me, he can only find someone like this.
But now he had found someone like Layla, a young and beautiful woman, and she immediately felt unbalanced, as if it wasn’t she who had dumped Jacob, but rather she had been dumped.
“I only found someone after the divorce, it’s reasonable and legal.”

To be honest, Jacob didn’t want to argue in such a situation; it was too embarrassing.
But Karen was clearly being unreasonable. What do you mean just divorced and looking for a woman? You were already flirting with someone surnamed Zapper before you even divorced! Now that you are divorced, you can’t find someone? This is clearly playing the double standard that Karen is famous for.
With no logic to stand on, Karen was left speechless, looking at Jacob in disbelief. When they were together, he had never spoken to her like this.
“Jacob, don’t slander me.”
“I and Karen are just ordinary colleagues!”
On the surface, Rick’s words seemed to be helping Karen regain the moral high ground, but in reality, he wanted to tell Layla that he and the woman beside him were not in an improper relationship, trying to reshape his image.
“Ordinary colleagues, huh?”
Jacob sneered, “Do you want me to call Ms. Vienna over so the three of you can have a chat face-to-face?”
