After Divorce, No Second Chance – Chapter 11

Paying Off Debt

Being a wealthy man wasn’t so bad either!

Jacob took a deep breath, gradually calming himself, but sleep was far from his mind.

He opened WhatsApp, found the contact labeled “Job Silly” in his recent chats, and transferred 50,000 dollars.

He then left a message: Thanks, bro! Job Silly’s full name was Wea Jo (literally “Wealthy Job”), a name carrying his parents’ hopes and expectations.

They were college roommates, maintaining a close friendship. Previously, Jacob had borrowed money everywhere to repay his loans, but he hadn’t asked Wea Jo, knowing he was always struggling financially.

Although his name was Wea Jo, he was a very down-to-earth and honest person, unlike Jacob, who liked to stir up trouble and start businesses. After graduating from university, he joined a property management company, working diligently for over a decade, currently only a supervisor in the customer service department, earning a monthly salary of three to five thousand dollars.

In a provincial capital city like Onitsha, this salary barely reached the average, but he had a mortgage to pay, children to raise, and his wife only earned over three thousand dollars, so life was tight.

Jacob knew his situation, so he hadn’t asked him for help. But when Wea Jo learned of Jacob’s predicament, he proactively sent 50,000 dollars.

This was true help in times of need.

So now that he had some money, Jacob’s first priority was to repay Wea Jo. This money was likely their family’s entire savings, painstakingly saved bit by bit.

After sending the WhatsApp message, there was no response, he was probably asleep.

Jacob then opened Kappay and repaid his 15,000 dollar debt.

After these transactions, his debt decreased from $215,000 to $150,000.

Of the 150,000 dollars, 100,000 dollars was borrowed from his second uncle, whose family was well-off and not in urgent need of the money.

The remaining 50,000 dollars was borrowed from his childhood friend, Chuks. This guy was a confirmed bachelor, a real playboy, transitioning from a “nightclub prince” to an “old nightclub prince.” He worked in car sales, currently a sales manager at an Audi 4S store.

He had earned a lot of money over the years, but had no savings, spending it all on women.

He wasn’t in a hurry to repay him, because even if he did, he’d just spend it on another woman, so it was better to keep it for him.

Due to his excitement, Jacob didn’t fall asleep until after 3 am.

“Daddy, wake up!”

“Daddy, it’s time to take me to school.”

Half-asleep, Jacob heard his daughter’s calls. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Macy’s chubby little face. The little girl was staring at him, her long eyelashes fluttering like tiny fans.

Hmm, those long eyelashes are definitely inherited from me!

Jacob thought smugly, then pinched his precious daughter’s chubby cheeks: “Daddy overslept.”

“Get up, let’s wash up!”

Jacob sat up, feeling refreshed.

“It’s already eight o’clock.”

“Daddy is a big lazy pig~!”

Macy pointed at the wall clock, complaining.

Jacob glanced at the time on the clock and jumped.

It really was eight o’clock! Kindergarten required children to arrive before eight, and Macy was already late.

Jacob quickly grabbed his phone and sent a WhatsApp message to Macy’s teacher, Kyra Spark: Teacher Kyra, I’m sorry, Macy will arrive in about fifteen minutes, please save some food for her.

After sending the message, Jacob quickly urged Macy to wash up. The little girl was already five years old, and Jacob was gradually cultivating her self-care abilities; dressing and washing were the simplest.

After a flurry of activity, the father and daughter finally left the house.

Fortunately, Macy’s kindergarten was nearby, just a few minutes away.

Besides Macy, there were other late children. Kyra Spark was at the entrance, receiving a chubby little boy. Seeing Jacob riding his electric scooter from afar, she didn’t go inside and waited at the entrance.

“Teacher Kyra, good morning.”

Macy jumped off the electric scooter and waved cheerfully to Kyra Spark standing at the entrance.

“Macy, good morning.”

Kyra Spark responded gently. This was her second year as a kindergarten teacher, her enthusiasm remained, and she was patient with the children, enjoying a good reputation among parents.

“Teacher Kyra, thank you for the trouble.”

Jacob said politely.

“It’s alright, it’s my job.”

“Macy, say goodbye to Daddy.”

Kyra Spark affectionately patted Macy’s little head. She liked Macy because the little girl was particularly cute, lively, and obedient.

“Bye, Daddy.”

Macy immediately waved her chubby little hand to Jacob.

Jacob also waved back, his eyes overflowing with the doting affection of a father.

No way; who told him he was a serious daughter-lover?

“By the way, Jacob, our kindergarten is having a parent-child sports day this Saturday, and it’s best if both parents attend.”
