A Betrayed Luna – Chapter 89

Anger

However, as abruptly as it occurred, she swiftly disengages, hastily retreating to regain her composure.

“Apologies,” she murmurs. “I am uncertain about what…”

She ceases her rambling, relief enveloping her upon observing my equally breathless state, as though I had just completed a marathon. Neither of us utters a word while we compose ourselves.

“Please share information about yourself,” she exhales, as the uncomfortable quiet becomes unbearable.

My palms start to perspire, entirely unready to disclose the atrocities I endured.

“It is only just,” she reprimands me for my silence. I have informed you about me. I am entitled to learn your narrative as well. How can I trust you if I possess no knowledge about you?”

A conflict rages within my mind.

“You need not disclose everything to me,” she says. “However, I require something.” Any item.

This does not alleviate my distress, and I implore Jimmy for assistance.

Inform her that we are an Aquarius, he jests, prompting me to contemplate what transgressions I committed in a previous existence to warrant an imbecile for a wolf.

“Inquire about your scars,” she suggests, gesturing towards my back. “Or at the very least, the actions you undertook to become a rogue.”

Point of View

“If it assists you, you may utilise my phone,” Ricky proposes, retrieving her phone from her pocket and unlocking it for me.

Perspiration accumulates at my temple as I gaze vacantly at the Notepad application.

She is not requesting much, Jimmy murmurs.

Did you overlook the fact that she is married to an ideal Alpha? I rebuke him. What thoughts would occupy her mind upon realising she is bonded to an eccentric individual?

Jimmy grunts, expressing that you are being theatrical. He was not entirely flawless. He was unfaithful to her. ACCOMPANIED BY HER SISTER!

That is not the crux of the matter! My father declined to acknowledge me as his son. I respond. When Ricky comprehends my inherent worthlessness, she will dismiss me as others have.

Do you doubt that our companion will treat us justly? Jimmy enquires.

I gaze at my companion, her smile wavering due to my persistent silence.

She merits the truth… Jimmy exhales. We concur. We will not ascertain her genuine feelings towards us if we only present her with falsehoods.

However…

She omitted certain details, he reminded me. Merely a trivial matter. Any item.

The phone vibrates in my hand, my fingers reluctant to compose a message. Minutes drag on until Ricky ultimately exhausts her patience.

“Very well, I believe this date has concluded,” Ricky chuckles dryly, causing my heart to plummet as a few tears linger in her eyes. She angrily rubs at them and begins to rise, disheartened by my lack of reaction. “I genuinely do not comprehend what I anticipated,” she murmurs, shaking her head in self-reproach. “This was a significant error, and I cannot even direct my anger towards you, as I am responsible for my own actions,” she exhales, exasperatedly rolling her eyes. “I ought to have remained silent.”

She applies the palms of her hands to her eyes to prevent tears from cascading down her cheeks.

“Kindly escort me home,” she implores. “I no longer wish to remain here.”

I have panic at hearing the distress in her voice. I attempt to articulate my thoughts, yet it feels as if the breath has been expelled from my lungs, resulting in nothing more than a gasp.

Proceed! I reprimand myself. Articulate a statement!

However, the more I attempt to articulate a word, the drier my mouth becomes and the heavier my tongue feels. All recollections of my father admonishing me to articulate resurface, and the words become lodged in my throat, unable to be uttered.

She merits the truth, I remind myself, inhaling deeply and standing upright.

Summoning all my courage, I lay my hands on her shoulders, pivot her towards me, and envelop her in my embrace. I attempt to embrace her, but Ricky merely shakes her head in anger at me.

“No,” she exclaims. “You cannot simply embrace this to resolve it.” I recounted my narrative to you. “I confided my anguish to you,” she hiccups. “Why are you unable to extend the same consideration to me?” ”

Recognising her correctness, I implore her to resume her seat, gesturing to the place beside me as my eyes beseech her to comply. With reluctance, she assumes a seated position, drawing her legs to her chest. Her brown eyes observe me intently, analysing my every action. I extract the phone from my pocket, and after she unlocks it, I compose my plan.

“I cannot narrate my story, but I can demonstrate it,” she articulates. “Shut your eyes.”

She gazes at me with confusion, yet I merely smile and cover my eyes with my palm to indicate my request. Reluctantly, she covers her eyes with both hands, exhaling deeply in irritation. Inhaling deeply, I shut my eyes and focus, lowering my defences and embracing the flow of thoughts emanating from my partner.
