A Betrayed Luna – Chapter 54

Prominent fountain

“I wish to reach the pack expeditiously,” I state in my most courteous tone. “It has been a lengthy day, and my son is fatigued.”

“Indeed,” he acknowledges modestly. “River Moon is approximately an hour and a half distant, so you may rest in the vehicle if you wish.”

He guides us to an SUV and assists in loading our belongings into the vehicle before departing. Throughout the journey, I permit Jadi to hold my hand, fearing that if he releases it, I may succumb to tears. He appears inclined to offer solace, yet no words escape his lips as he observes my struggle to maintain composure.

We traverse serpentine roads until a pair of white gates materialises before us. Two guards permit our entry, and I grasp Jadi’s hand firmly while scrutinising our surroundings. Initially, the winding roads persist until we observe a substantial pack of approximately twenty fully shifted wolves sprinting past us, seemingly engaged in a training exercise. Residences and modest structures emerge on either side of the road, the pack resembling a small, vibrant village with individuals and wolves leisurely occupying the area. Along the main thoroughfare, a grand French-style mansion comes into view as Andrew approaches the driveway adorned with rose bushes and a prominent fountain at its centre.

“Welcome to the River Moon pack house,” Andrew announces as he turns off the engine. “The guest house is located a short distance back.” Josie wishes to converse with you prior to your evening rest. “Follow me.” I pivot towards our belongings, and Andrew gestures negatively. “Do not concern yourself with that.” The omegas will manage it. Simply accompany me.

Promptly, a contingent of omegas emerges from the home and commences unloading our belongings from the trunk.

Jadi exits the vehicle first, extending a hand to assist me. I am too fatigued to reject his offer and accept his hand. He attempts to take Bray, who is fighting to remain conscious in my embrace, but I cling to my puppy as if he were a lifeline. He is the sole anchor to my sanity at this moment.

The interior of the pack house surpasses the exterior in splendour, with an exquisite chandelier suspended in the foyer. Andrew guides us up the stairs to the third floor and halts before a door. Without knocking, Andrew enters the office, where a heated argument is in progress.

A petite woman with long white hair is seated at a desk, examining what seems to be architectural designs, as three imposing men scowl at her.

“Josie, what you are requesting is not available in any of our packages!” One individual contends.

“This further justifies the initial construction,” the petite woman asserts, her tone gentle yet authoritative. “This training centre would serve all, not solely Amethyst Lake.” The advantages this may provide upon the Kingdom much surpass the expenses involved. Consider it an investment.

Andrew clears his throat, prompting the woman and the three guys to direct their attention towards us. The petite woman beams at us, her golden eyes shimmering with enthusiasm.

“You must be Tiana’s acquaintances,” she states with a polite smile while circling the desk to greet us. To my astonishment, Jadi, Melina, and Andrew all perform a low bow before the petite woman as she nears us, her cheeks reddening slightly at the gesture. Even Bray stirs in my arms and inclines his head in her presence. “My name is Josie Altico,” she says with a smile. “Welcome to River Moon.”

“Welcome to River Moon,” Josie states, her golden eyes surveying us. “Are you Ricky?” she enquires, extending her hand towards my companion.

Ricky gazes vacantly at Josie’s extended hand, her heart racing in her chest before she hesitantly accepts the handshake.

“Pleasure to meet you,” Ricky murmurs, her tone terse as she readjusts Bray in her embrace. “This is my son, Braylon.”

Bray inserts his thumb into his mouth while gesturing with his other hand, and Josie reciprocates the wave. Ricky thereafter gestures at Melina and myself.

“These are Jadi and Melina.” “Jadi is… my companion,” she adds with bitterness. Melina is his mother. She is deaf, and both of them are mute.

Josie glances at Melina and me as she gestures a greeting. Melina responds timidly with a gesture before retreating behind me, bowing her head and trembling uncontrollably. I will enquire about her nervousness later.

“She states, ‘It is a pleasure to meet you,’” Ricky translates.

Josie’s smile radiates, but upon observing Melina’s response, she turns to the three males behind her, introducing them as Alpha Wesley of the Cerulean Sea Pack, his beta Chris, and Alpha Javier of the Coscaris Pack.

“Gentlemen, we shall resume this discussion tomorrow,” she states, glancing back. “You are dismissed.”

I am astonished as she gestures with her wrist, causing two giant portals to materialise, after which the three men nod at the young Queen before disappearing into the portals.
