Laura’s Perspective
“Absolutely not,” I respond, shaking my head at Tiana as she articulates her proposal. “There is no conceivable circumstance under which I would relocate to a pack in California with Bray.” It is not permissible. Absolutely not!
I am entirely unaware of his history, and it unnerves me to consider the possibility that he may pose a threat. One does not become a rogue without reason.
As if anticipating my thoughts, she embraces me firmly. “He appears to be a pleasant individual… although I am not the most reliable evaluator of character,” she says anxiously. “If he causes you any harm, I will be there instantly.”
I embrace her in return, having longed for her comforting presence over the past few days. After several minutes in each other’s embrace, Tiana rises and assists me in packing while I contact both of my employers to elucidate my unforeseen absence, fabricating a plausible excuse for both Jadi and myself at The Halitton. Fortunately, I possess sufficient savings to cover my mortgage this month and any additional travel expenses, thanks to my unspent Luna funds still residing in the bank.
The house descends into complete disorder as we all prepare, my stomach churning at the prospect of confronting a pack of wolves.
“Do not be concerned, dear,” Tiana reassures while I pack the final pair of Bray’s pants. “Queen Josie is an exceptional individual.” “You will be well cared for.” I wrinkle my nose, prompting her to laugh. “No expressions until you encounter her personally.”
I express my disdain towards her and fasten Bray’s bag. “Why do you persist in referring to her as Queen?” Isn’t she Luna?
Tiana grins to herself. “It appears you are somewhat uninformed regarding werewolf hierarchies,” she laughs. “Josie is a hybrid of Moonlit Wolf and Gold Wolf, rendering her an Ivory Wolf and of royal lineage.” She is Queen Luna.
Ivory Wolf? Wolf Under Moonlight? Golden Wolf?” I enquire. “I have never encountered such a phenomenon.” I do not believe we had any of those wolves in Blood Night.
“There are few gold werewolves remaining in the world,” Tiana laments. “Additionally, there are perhaps a hundred Moonlit Wolf clans left in North America, which explains why you have never encountered one.” She bites her cheek before meeting my gaze. “According to Rowan, your mate is a Moonlit Wolf.” He is also a Moonlit Wolf.
What does that signify?” I enquire, curiosity overwhelming my determination to avoid encountering Jadi’s wolf.”
Silver wolves are werewolves endowed with unique abilities or talents. Rowan possesses the ability to manifest any object he desires through the power of his imagination. “It is rather remarkable,” she said, blushing.
I impulsively ask, “What is Jadi’s gift?”
Tiana shrugs and states, “I am uncertain.” He is not very talkative’, she chuckles. Her laughter ceases as I fall silent, prompting her to sigh. “Do not concern yourself excessively with it.” Regardless of his abilities, should he attempt to harm you, Queen Josie possesses the power to thwart him.
I arch an eyebrow at her. “What evidence do you have to be certain?”
“As I mentioned, Josie is an Ivory Wolf,” she states, swelling with pride. “She surpasses him in nearly every regard and possesses multiple abilities, whereas Jadi has only one.” Regardless of the offering, Josie possesses greater strength. Additionally, Josie possesses authority over 8 packets. She can effortlessly confront a renegade Moonlit Wolf if she desires.
“Are you implying that her Alpha governs the eight packs?” I lament, remembering the several occasions Aldo emphasised that although I held the highest position among females in his pack, ultimately, his authority prevailed. His pack, his regulations.
“No,” Tiana asserts, shaking her head with a smile of pride. “She governs the eight werewolf packs.” Josie surpasses all wolves in her Kingdom, including her Alpha consort, Mark. He also bows to her. All decisions ultimately rest with her, despite their governance of the pack as equals and their alliance in ruling the Kingdom.
I regard her with scepticism, questioning the possibility of such a dynamic. It contradicts the inherent character of an Alpha to submit to another wolf, particularly a female wolf.
“Just wait,” Tiana grins playfully. “You will witness her in action shortly.” It is really humorous. Josie is a diminutive entity, yet –
“We are prepared at your convenience,” Rowan interjects while knocking on the door. “All arrangements have been made for their arrival in California.”
Tiana expresses her gratitude, “Thank you, Rowan,” as he responds with a radiant smile before taking his leave.
We transport the luggage to the living room, where I observe Bray and Jadi engaged with the stuffed wolf toy. Jadi and Melina’s belongings are already organised in the rental car arranged by Rowan. Upon noticing me with the bags, Jadi silently takes them from me. Meanwhile, Bray persists in his play as I search for his shoes and encourage him to wear them.
