A Betrayed Luna – Chapter 51

The collar

“I cannot disclose the specific details,” she murmurs after an extended pause. “However, I have a task to fulfil, and if I fail to accomplish it, they will execute Bray.”

The blood drains from my visage, and it feels as though the world is disintegrating around me. “Who will?” I weep, hastening towards her and seizing her by the collar of her shirt. “Reveal to me who!”

Teardrops cascade down my cheeks as she shakes her head in despair at me.

“I regret to inform you, Ricky, that in order to safeguard that young boy, I cannot disclose the identity,” she weeps.

I feel as though the wind has been expelled from my lungs. Will Bray and I ever coexist harmoniously?

I really apologise, Ricky. I genuinely am. “I never intended to jeopardise your child’s safety,” she sobs, her eyes reflecting profound regret. “I am unaware of how they located me… but I assure you that once this concludes, I will permanently exit your life.” I will vanish and I will-

She weeps uncontrollably, her speech impaired by the remorse within her.

“Silence, you foolish British woman!” I embrace her tightly, drawing her into my arms. Tiana gasps as I tenderly caress her hair and place a gentle kiss on her temple. ‘You are the sole individual I cannot bear to lose from my life,’ I declare, my own tears flowing. ‘We are in this together, remember?’ “We are a witch and a bitch.”

She chuckles while wiping her tears. “A witch and a scoundrel.”

“Always,” I whisper in response, embracing her firmly.

“I assure you, Ricky, I will do every effort to fulfil my obligation. “No one is harming your baby,” she states as she withdraws from my embrace. “However, I require you to visit this pack in the event that I do not succeed.” Queen Josie will safeguard you at all costs. I affirm it.

I anxiously bite my lip, detesting the notion of relinquishing my life to another wolf.

Please, Ricky. “I am unable to perform my duties if I am perpetually preoccupied with concerns regarding you and Bray,” she implores.

I inhale deeply. “Are you certain you can trust this pack?” I enquire, scepticism consuming my every thought.

“I assure you, the Ivory Phoenix kingdom is entirely dissimilar to Blood Night.” “They are benevolent wolves,” she affirms with reassurance.

“Good wolves do not exist,” I respond. “Only loyal ones.”

She scowls at me and exhales deeply. “I won’t even attempt to debate with you,” she mutters. “I am too fatigued.”

I observe my buddy closely and discern that she appears utterly fatigued, as though she has not rested adequately for some days.

Is this the cause for your departure to California?” I enquire, seeking to extract as much information from her as possible. I then lower my voice. “To safeguard Bray and me?” A more ominous thought crosses my thoughts. “Is that wolf posing a threat to you?” Is he the reason you are unable to disclose the truth of the situation?

She tilts her head back in amusement at my allegation. “Rowan does not pose a threat to me…” She grins bashfully. “He is… indeed my mate.” Her cheeks redden with embarrassment as I scowl at her.

“Your companion?” I scoff, narrowing my eyes to slits. “You despise mates.”

“Indeed, you do,” she replies defensively. “So imagine my astonishment upon arriving to discover a wolf and his mother residing here!”

I fold my arms across my chest and grind my teeth.

“He left me no alternative,” I murmur. “I am unable to reject him adequately, and he will not acknowledge my rejection unless I grant him three months to alter my decision.”

“Best of luck to him,” she chuckles, reclining on my bed and lying supine with her arms extended.

I reclined next to her and draped my leg over her thighs, embracing her. “Why can’t men simply refrain from bothering us?” I murmur, eliciting laughter from her.

“We could always identify as lesbians,” she remarks nonchalantly. “Unfortunately, I have an affinity for male genitalia, and Rowan….” Her fair complexion abruptly flushes a vivid pink. “He is well-endowed.”

Guinevere!I chuckle as Tiana blushes a deeper shade of pink.

“Indeed, he is!” She laughs. “And the scoundrel knows how to utilise it!”

I recall yesterday night when I observed Jadi donning his boxers.

“Jadi is also well-endowed,” I said, blushing, as Tiana erupted in laughter.

“You cunning individual.” Have you already attempted to engage him? she chuckles.

“No, but I witnessed it,” I murmur. “I observed numerous things last night,” I continue, remembering the multitude of scars that adorned his back. A shiver courses through my body as I contemplate how he could have sustained such injuries.
