A Betrayed Luna – Chapter 37

My partner

Aldo’s Perspective

“P-please Alpha,” Susan, the maid, pleads as I grasp her throat. “Please don’t kill me,” she cries desperately. “I am only 18! I-I haven’t even encountered my mate. Please! Please! Please!” She implores as I constrict my grip on her fragile neck.

However, her pleas go unheeded as Cain breaks her neck, permanently silencing her lamentations.

How many more? I growl as he discards the lifeless body to the side. How many more until you are content? At this pace, we will have no pack remaining when Laura returns!

I will cease when you return with my Tiny and our dog, Cain snarls. Nearly four years have elapsed, yet you continue to neglect bringing me my partner.

He summons Zen, who enters hastily and stops upon encountering another body to dispose of. He gazes vacantly at the girl before lifting her into his arms.

“Where should I place her?” he enquires softly, his tone tinged with resentment.

“I am indifferent to your concerns,” Cain mutters.

“Affirmative, Alpha,” Zen responds. As he pivots, he murmurs quietly, “Will there be any more this week?”

Cain lunges at his subordinate, restraining him against the wall with his elbow pressing into his throat.

“What did you utter?” Cain snarls.

“N-nothing, Alpha,” Zen responds.

Exasperated by Cain’s contempt for my pack, I ascend to the forefront and regain control, erecting barriers to confine Cain within the depths of my consciousness.

I liberate Zen, who inhales deeply and then coughs.

“What is the status of the search?” I enquire, anticipating positive news today.

Zen stoops to retrieve the dead and hoists her onto his shoulder before responding. “She has altered her name. We have examined all vital records across nearly every state, but Laura, as we once knew her, is no longer extant.”

“You have discovered nothing,” I exclaim, striking my fist against the desk. “After more than three years, there is still nothing?”

“We are aware that she boarded a flight to Whitewood, but all our leads have proven fruitless, Sir,” Zen states. “It is entirely possible that she has departed the country.”

I clean my desk entirely at his statement. “Laura could not have simply vanished!”

“She has certainly concealed her whereabouts,” he exhales. “However, we will locate her, Alpha. We will retrieve her and the pup.”

Nina enters the office abruptly, casting a glance at Zen and the lifeless body he holds.

“Another one?” She scoffs, crossing her arms. “Did you at least engage in s****l relations with her before you killed her?” She jested, though I detected the jealousy in her tone.

“What do you desire?” I exhale, reclining at my workstation to initiate an internet search in Whitewood for Laura.

Zen interprets this as his signal to depart, nearly stumbling as he exits, leaving Nina and me to converse privately. My wife takes a seat, a slight smirk adorning her attractive lips. I assess her physique; she bears no resemblance to Laura, prompting one to question their kinship. While Laura possesses a tan, olive complexion akin to their Mexican father, Nina has a pale, creamy white skin reminiscent of their Salvadoran mother. Laura’s eyes resemble milk chocolate, whereas Nina’s gleam like two vibrant emeralds. Both are exceptionally beautiful, and both are my Achilles’ heel.

Nina states in a serious and resolute tone, “I wish to transition. I believe I am prepared.”

I express my frustration. Nina had repeatedly requested that I turn her ever since I learnt that Laura was expecting my puppy.

“Nessa,” I exhale, suppressing the inclination to mock her.

Does she intend to transform? Cain gasps with amusement. Is she foolish?

“You are aware that there is a significant likelihood your body will reject the wolf, potentially resulting in a protracted and agonising demise, correct?” I enquire, scrutinising her expression for any indication of doubt. I detect none. “No,” I hiss between clenched teeth.

“Why not? You requested Laura to turn,” she contends. “What about me? I am your Luna—”

“Correction,” I interject, rising from my seat and manoeuvring around the desk to position myself immediately before her. “You are my Luna’s ineffectual, infertile elder sister,” I smirk as I murmur in her ear. “Merely a placeholder until I can retrieve her.”

“However -“

“Laura is the legitimate Luna of Blood Night,” I whisper while unfastening her shirt to reveal her bare breasts. “And you are merely my concubine,” I continue, touching one of her breasts and pinching her nipples. A gentle sigh leaves Nina’s lips.

She emerges from her stupor as I bend down to kiss her neck.

“Blood Night already possesses a Luna,” she hisses, withdrawing my hand and rebuttoning her shirt. “And you will soon witness my true capabilities.”

She exits my office with arrogance, and I see this individual is likely to endanger herself. The only question is if I possess sufficient concern to intervene.
