“What the—”
“Confront me,” Jimmy growls, fury permeating his every directive.
What is occurring? Jaxton contemplates, a little shiver coursing down his spine. “Who is addressing me?” “
“Do you not recognise an Alpha when you encounter one?” Jimmy chuckles softly while methodically encircling his target.
I can perceive Jaxton’s heart thumping against his chest in trepidation, the sound melodious to my ears as his eyes dart around in desperation for an exit.
This is precisely how I desire him.
“Are you afraid, Alpha?” Jimmy mocks him. “Would you like to engage in a game with your older brother?” “
Jaxton remains silent yet attempts to move once more, his body obstinately unresponsive to his directives. He is now under my authority.
“Given your penchant for manipulating lives… shall we engage with yours?” Jimmy enquires, perspiration accumulating at Jaxton’s temples. “What troubles you, brother?” Is your tongue ensnared by the wolf? Jimmy mocks him while observing the gun still grasped in Jaxton’s hand. “What do you think of playing a round of Russian roulette?” “
Jaxton’s eyes widen as Jimmy approaches him with purposeful strides, stopping within inches from his face.
“You employed five bullets to instill fear in my family,” Jimmy growls. I require only one to instill in you a profound sense of remorse for your existence. “Now, rotate the cylinder and aim the firearm at your head.”
Jaxton breathes rapidly as he carries out the command, his hands trembling while he rotates the cylinder of the handgun before pressing the barrel against his own temple.
“Pull the trigger,” Jimmy commands, the hairs on his back standing on end as he exposes his teeth to our quaking brother.
“Please…” Jaxton pleads, exerting all his power to refrain from pulling the trigger. “I implore you, refrain from this action…” I did not intend that. I was merely complying with my mother’s instructions.
The sight of my companion bleeding in the vehicle will eternally be etched in my memory, and the echoes of Bray’s screams will perpetually torment my dreams. The actions taken against my family today are unforgivable.
PULL. THE. “TRIGGER,” Jimmy growls, while Jaxton inhales deeply, closes his eyes, and pulls the trigger.
The sound of the empty click heats my blood, Jaxton sighing in relief to have survived the shot. This, however, is far from concluded.
“Again,” Jimmy commands, instilling fear anew in Jaxton’s eyes.
“However, I-”
A genuine Alpha never exhibits fear… Is that not what you and Father consistently asserted? Jimmy spits, as Jaxton whimpers in terror, comprehending that the sole conclusion of this game will be his lifeless body on the floor. “Reiterate.”
“I wish to live!” Kindly! Exhibit compassion! He weeps audibly, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“Did you possess any when you shot my companion?” Jimmy growls, barely restraining his fury through clenched teeth. “Did you exhibit compassion when you fired at my son?” “
Jaxton merely whines and whimpers as I direct him to once more position the barrel against his temple. In his terror, I observe his trousers darken as a puddle accumulates at his feet.
“Observe, a coward…” Jimmy mocks, a grin of joy spreading across his visage. “Are you apprehensive?” “Cling to that sentiment,” Jimmy derides him. “It will be the final sensation you experience.” “Now fire,” Jimmy instructs, as Jaxton pulls the trigger with a shout.
Once more, the hollow click provides solace to the quaking Alpha, though his reprieve is fleeting when Jimmy commands him to fire again.
“I implore you, I am your sibling!” Jaxton implores me, his lips trembling with trepidation.
“Were you my brother today?” Jimmy growls, his nostrils flaring as he glares at the man who tormented me for years, perceiving me as nothing more than a mongrel.
“I—”
“Time’s up,” Jimmy states, turning away from Jaxton and approaching the frightened Korbin, who remains on the floor. “Fire.”
A flock of birds flutters through the forest as a loud bang reverberates off the surrounding trees, accompanied by the thud of a falling body. Jimmy halts abruptly, as my heart races as I contemplate our recent actions. I cast a fleeting glimpse to the corpse on the floor, Jaxton’s eyes remaining wide open as they gaze into the void, before redirecting my attention to Korbin.
“I assure you, I was not involved in this matter.” I was instructed by my father to convey a message, and that is my sole purpose for being here. He implores. “Jaxton brandished a firearm, and I was bewildered by the situation.” I was simply attending to my own affairs when he commenced-
“Cease your discourse,” Grayon murmurs, attempting to comprehend Korbin’s disordered line of reasoning.
A dark veil descends over Korbin’s eyes, prompting him to fall silent and nod in submission.
What is the message? Jimmy exhales audibly.
“The gamma urges you to reevaluate your decision and voluntarily align with us in the conflict against Stonecold,” he articulates. “You have three days until Crescent Mane announces war and my father arrives with reinforcements.”
