A Betrayed Luna – Chapter 168

Greetings

“Alright, relax,” he murmurs as he enters the passenger seat. “It is not particularly profound.”

I remain silent and assume control of the vehicle, steering towards the periphery of the city. While driving, I observe an SUV approaching, identical to the one Jadi and his companion arrived in yesterday during our visit to River Moon.

Are you certain on this matter? Abel, my wolf, exhibits hesitation.

Hesitation is a sign of weakness, I retort, extracting the pistol from my trousers and lowering the window.

Upon observing the firearm, Korbin begins to experience panic.

“Excuse me, what are you doing?”

Disregarding him, I direct my attention to the passenger’s side, where I observe Jadi gazing vacantly at his companion. As I draw the trigger, Korbin yanks my arm, causing the bullet to veer towards the driver’s side and strike Jadi’s foolish companion instead.

Their car swerves like a snake along the middle of the road and I stop ours knowing my purpose has yet to be achieved.

“What on earth was that?” Korbin exclaims at me, his heart rate escalating as he begins to perspire profusely. “Our sole obligation was to convey a message!” “

I exist.

..Therefore

“Ricky!” “I yell, applying pressure to her wound as my thoughts spiral into disarray.” “Ta-Ricky, I-”

“Mother!” Bray screams upon witnessing blood splattering across my arms.

“Bray, remain on the ground!” Quinn reprimands him, forcing his head down to protect it. “Is everyone all right?” “She vocalizes.”

I acknowledge with a nod and observe blood oozing from her shoulder.

“I am fine,” she tells me. “It merely grazed my shoulder—Beware! She weeps, forcing both Bray and Melina’s heads downward.

A second gunshot is discharged, shattering the rear windscreen of the vehicle, accompanied by a disturbance outside the car. Bray commences to scream and weep excessively, as Jimmy struggles to emerge and safeguard our family. A third gunshot is discharged, although it appears to completely miss the vehicle.

We must get the shooter before he inflicts harm on Bray as well. Jimmy growls, yet a part of me is unwilling to abandon Ricky.

“Ri-Quinn,” I stammer, tugging my shirt over my head and using it to hide the wound on Laura’s collarbone. “Assistance required…” “P-please.”

“Understood,” Quinn responds, pushing into the front seats and assuming control, applying pressure to the injury. “I am seeking a backup.”

With hesitation, I withdraw my hands from Ricky and lean in to kiss her forehead.

“I shall return,” I whisper, attempting to exit the vehicle, when I sense my companion grasp my arm.

“Therefore…” Ricky utters hoarsely. “I love you.”

Her words suffice to incite Jimmy’s fury, prompting him to seize control of my body as he exits the automobile and transforms. As I approach the vehicle, I observe Korbin and Jaxton positioned in the centre of the road, their vehicles within a few feet behind them. Their hands are elevated as they struggle for possession of a pistol, a fourth shot discharged into the air.

Cain ensnares Korbin’s ankle with his foot and strikes him in the face with his elbow, causing him to fall to the ground while he seizes control of the pistol. His eyes constrict to slits as he pivots to confront me, aiming the firearm in my direction. I feel no fear as I confront the gun’s barrel, as Jimmy tilts his head in enjoyment.

Jimmy challenges him, firmly planting his hands on the ground.

“Greetings… mongrel,” Jaxton scoffs. “Or ought I to bid farewell?” “

Jimmy accelerates at him at maximum velocity as Jaxton discharges the firearm, effortlessly evading the projectile. As he lunges at my brother, Jaxton unleashes his ability, causing Jimmy’s mouth to fill with sand while he bites into Jaxton’s shoulder. We descend directly through Jaxton and land above Korbin, Jaxton’s form now a cloud of sand.

Similar to my father, Jaxton possesses the ability of sand manipulation, rendering it nearly impossible for anybody to strike him, since his body transforms into a cloud of sand at the slightest contact. I hastily rise to my feet as Jaxton’s form coalesces, the scoundrel once more aiming the gun at me.

The sound of screaming tires briefly diverts our attention, prompting us to glance upward as our car speeds by, heading towards River Moon. A malevolent glint appears in Jaxton’s eyes as he observes the car speed down the road in a frenzy.

“I will demonstrate the actions of a true Alpha in warfare,” he sneers, a malevolent grin forming on his lips.

Asphyxiate? Jimmy grimaces, exposing his teeth and growling as a cautionary signal.

Before Jaxton’s hands disintegrate into sand, Jimmy and I lower our defences, transmitting his stream of consciousness into my mind. All of his experiences and unpleasant recollections inundate my mind, yet I construct barriers to ensure that only his present thoughts traverse between us.

“Halt,” Jimmy instructs, causing Jaxton to freeze as a dark veil envelops his vision.

He attempts to advance, yet his body remains unresponsive, immobilised in compliance with my commands.
